Homeowner beware. Do not use Semper Solaris Construction.
In spite of really bad weather the project resumed on schedule.
I would give them a negative star if there was one for recommending them.
The construction crew and work were fine, but the communication with the permitting process and management of the overall process was poor.
I was very pleased. The work is high quality.
The rating is due to the previously mentioned things I've said.
The supervisor for the roofing company argued with me. He had an attitude.
All was great… excellent service..!
Semper Solaris Construction subcontract their work.
The 3 installation crews for the roof, solar, and HVAC all did an amazing job and were very nice to talk with. They answered any and all questions we had about the install and were very patient. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for this type of work.
I am very pleased so far so good. This was a huge investment.
The project went off with our a hitch they did a great job and were efficient and cleaned up after each days work.
Owen corning product is excellent. Semper Solaris Construction installation and management caveat emptor. Buyer beware. Be prepared for anything with this organization.
I've already recommended Semper Solaris Construction Inc to several people.
The product has a great 50-year warranty and it looks good.
I don't want to waste my time explaining what is wrong with this company. They are a ZERO in my opinion. Over priced and under equipped to do the job right the first or even the second time.
I am dissatisfied with the entire project, the outcome, and the four months of incomplete work.
We had Semper Solaris (SS) install both a new roof and solar panels. The process was easy and installation of both occurred within a couple of months from initial meeting. Communication between us and SS was ok but not great. These are the issues we encountered:During the roof installation, there was a miscommunication between the on-site roofing sub-contractor and the SS office. The on-site roofers (sub-contractors out of North county) said that the sub roof was ok and did not need any plywood replacement. However, the office contacted us and said that we did need new plywood and that each piece of plywood would be extra. When we told the office what the on-site workers said, they appologized for the miscommunication and did not charge us extra. Also during the roof installation, our DIRECTV satellite had to be moved to a new location. DIRECTV charges for this and to reconnect the dish to the satellite. SS did not tell us we needed to move and re-install the dish until the roofers arrived. SS said they would give us a credit for this extra charge but I do not believe this occurred. During the solar installation, when the city inspector came out to approve the electrical panel, apparently he was not in a good mood. At first, he said everything looked good. He then went to his truck and when he came back he had changed his mind. It seemed that he did not like the SS guy sent to meet with him, or at least did not like what the SS guy said, which caused us to have to spend $650 to “clean up” the panel. The inspector said he would return to re-inspect but then never returned. This caused a delay to get the next phase. Finally, SDG&E took quite a while to give us the final approval to begin using the solar system. I felt like I had to be the one pushing to get this final approval rather than SS following up with SDG&E and me. No one from SDG&E or SS ever came during the three weeks we waited for approval. We kept asking why there was a delay. SDG&E said they were waiting for a picture of the panel but SS said they had already sent it.A few weeks ago, a SS rep reached out to us to see if we were happy with the new roof and solar system. We told the rep that we did not like the new attic vents because they do not move out the hot attic air and that we wanted to see about either getting whirly bird vents again or some other type of vent that actually moves the air. The rep said he would find out and get back to us. That has not happened.Overall, we are very happy with both our new roof and our solar system. We are making power and our current SDG&E bill balance is in negative territory, even though we’ve been running our A/C more than ever!
Semper Solaris Construction showed up on time. It took them less time to complete the job than what they quoted me. The work was done A1A. This was the best job I have seen done on a roof so far.
I appreciate the work Semper Solaris Construction Inc did and the quality of the materials. I like the roof.
Semper was recommended by my parents, so I thought the process would be as easy and satisfactory as theirs. Unfortunately, we have had failure after failure as soon as we signed the contract. We were put on ACH transfers to pay for our system, which would have been fine if we were able to initiate the transfer - Semper sends an email saying they are going to debit your account for tens of thousands of dollars with essentially zero notice. We paid for our system out of our investment account and that requires us to pull the money from there, which takes a few days. Semper gave like 24 hours notice before a transfer would take place. I don't know anyone who keeps that much money just hanging out in their checking account. After almost walking away from the deal, we were escalated to an Account Manager who assured me she would be with us from start to finish. We also learned that we could just write a check instead of the forced ACH transfers, so we did that. That was not an option the Sales Rep told us about. The roofing project went well and the site manager, Sean O'Connor, was fantastic. Great communication, customer service, and integrity. He informed us that the roof would be installed by a vetted sub-contractor, which is fine, but again the Sales Rep had told us all installers would be Semper employees. The solar install went seemingly smoothly except for the fact that the installers were stoned and the site manager for that portion (not Sean) didn't seem to care. The solar installers did not install correctly and we failed inspection twice. Trying to schedule someone to come out for remediation was a hassle and Semper has frequently told me that they would be out working on the house and never showed. At this point, our current Account Manager dissapeared and it took a very angry phone call from my husband to get in contact with anyone. After the remediation, they left the system on, which opened us up to penalties from SDG&E because we were running solar (and our meter was running backwards) for a few days. Our new Account Manager did not seem to think that this was a huge deal, but got the guys out to turn it off eventually. We have now been waiting for over a month for the City to come back out and inspect. I inquired as to why, and apparently the install plans had to be re-submitted because they changed. If the installers had done their job correctly the first time, this would not have been an issue. I am beyond frustrated that Semper has been so awful in their communication and unprofessional electricians. They have also not offered any sort of compensation for our continued delays and dissatisfaction with the company.
I am happy with the solar power system except for the monitoring system, which is terrible.
We loved Semper our first time around. The installation of our new roof went smoothly, and the install of the new solar, but we had an extended month of waiting due to Semper miscommunications, errors with our old system install to include not doing it, coming back out to do it, wiring it wrong and then having to come back out again to fix it. Although we were frustrated this time around, I think/hope this was a unique case. I'm happy with the pricing, quality of the materials and teams were fast. The apps are easy to use, and I'm confident things will be just fine moving forward.
We had a great experience.
I would like to recognize the foreman and his crew they did a very good job. Eduardo did a good job and the electricians did a good job.
I was referred to Bob King and Semper Solaris by a friend. Bob King was very upfront about everything. Right away we felt we could trust him and the information he gave us. Bob was very open about the product, provided lots of information and answered all our questions. His presentation made us feel comfortable with the decision we were making considering it is a big purchase. Our crew was very professional. They let us know when they arrived and left and explained the work they were going to do each day. Their workmanship was good and it was clear that they were dedicated to doing a good job. They took personal interest in their work. We feel good about our decision to install solar. It was a big thing to do and in the long term it will be very beneficial for us. I have already recommended Bob King and Semper Solaris to other people!
I was referred to Semper Solaris and Bob King by a friend from Nextdoor app. I had previously received a quote from another solar company that underestimated my needs. My neighbor suggested I get a quote from Bob. Bob looked at the previous quote, determined the mistake and then gave me an accurate quote. Bob was likable, had great charisma and I enjoyed talking to him. He was very honest, not pushy and fun to be around. My work crew was very nice, professional and did the job fast. I didn't have any problems, everything was done correctly the first time. The crew even took the time to show me how set up and use the app for my Tesla Powerwall battery. I am very happy with my decision to install solar panels and the Tesla Powerwall battery! I have already recommended Bob King and Semper Solaris to others!
I moved to Bakersfield 2 years ago from Los Angeles, and my place needed a new roof and HVAC system. I also wanted a Solar & Storage system which is a pretty tall order right?! Well, I figured it out and started the process with Robert A. at Semper Solaris. I have (9) squares of flat roof and (5) squares of slope. I discovered that the flat section of my roof wasn't draining properly so I decided to have the company build a taper system for my new IB PVC roof. I also chose their Owens Corning, Duration Cool product for the sloped portion, and voila! It came out perfect!
While in the permitting process for my Solar & Storage system, we were ready to install my new 5 Ton, 16 SEER, all-electric package unit. To reduce exposure to common bacteria & viruses and to protect against allergies & asthma, I made sure we added the MicroPure MX4 Air Scrubber and AprilAire 5000 Air Filter. I also added the ECOBEE digital thermostat. ALL HIGHLY RECOMMENDED add ons! Next up, (25) 360W Panasonic Evervolt panels with SolarEdge inverters! I also installed (2) Tesla Powerwall batteries. Why? I bit the bullet to be as legally off the grid as possible! My main motivation for my (2) batteries was to transform my house into a "Self-Powered Home! I've attached two pictures to show my panel placement and my power flow chart.
They were great.
Semper Solaris is a very professional company to work with. Good quality products and guarantee to last many years. I should be good for the next 30 years!
I would not recommend them because of my overall experience. They are too big. They need to streamline a little bit with zones or territories. I was talking to people from all over.
Do not use them for roofing.
There were multiple billing issues associated with completion of the project. They attempted to charge for additional handling fees that were not in the work order.
The roofing was great. The solar was not.
I have actively told people to not use Semper Solaris for roofing jobs as they did so bad. They damaged the house during removal, had to come multiple times to fix things they messed up during installation.
Comittments made, were kept. Excellent work!
I have already recommended someone to Semper Solaris Construction Inc.
The roof installation crew was timely, efficient, and clean.
We were totally satisfied. They were great and very helpful.
Stay far away from this company.
Fast, efficient and kept us informed throughout the process.
Amazing job
It was great!
We regret working with this company. We have our roof and solar panels intalled. They have caused so much problems. We spent more than half of a day with no power because they decide to cut it without letting us know, without telling us what they are doing and when they will fix it or what’s the plan. And we work from home. I have no idea how such a big company can operate without proper communication within themselves and especially to the customer. Both roof and solar power were not approved when they installed it, causing delays. They also have damaged some of our outlets, casings while working and did not care at all. After you sign for the contract,Good luck on getting a hold with any customer service. They all never follow through on what they say.So, hope this helps anyone decide on working with this company. Good luck!
This company is terrible. They do not perform the standard of care required. They have been dishonest with me about compensating me for a terribly mismanaged job. I DO NOT recommend this company to anyone.
I was very satisfied with everything. They were very clear on when things were going to be done and what steps were next. I was pleasantly surprised.
I am grateful for the experience I had while installing our new roof in preparation for our solar project. The crew was on time and made sure the site was clean and safe. They finished exactly on schedule and did a fantastic job. Edgar, my coordinator was in constant contact with me, answering all of my questions and going above and beyond. While I can't speak to the durability of the product (I have only had the new roof a couple of months) I am confident in the warranty and in the quality of work the crew did.
It was great!
They were professional and did a great job.
Very professional and reliable company.
