Clean & Safe - Very good. The Workers cleaned up after work , after the day and trash was picked up regularly. The portable toilet was provided. These were great.
Construction Quality - It was expected. All were very good.
Production Coordination - The production Coordinator was responsive, paid attention in details and monitored the project to the target date.
Project Manager - He explained the project to be executed thoroughly and what to be expected. I was comfortable that he lead the project smoothly.
Recognized Excellence - I recommend Raymond, and Chip for their excellent services. They are an asset for the Company. These employees were working very hard even though the job required two person jobs but they were happy and performed well by themselves.
Additional Comments - It happened during the construction work , we were out of the country for two weeks. We left the house, the key for the workers to continue working on the project. Everything was fine. The workers protected the floors ,the stairs , the walls for their work. I appreciated with their consideration to maintain the living space clean and their discipline.

Professional & Organized - Very professional, very organized. All plans and build timelines were provided and updated regularly. No surprises.
Communication - Both on site conversations and app based updates made the planning easy. I had to coordinate painters, window contractors, audio video contractors, and others so they wouldn't interfere with each other. The planning process made that easy.
Problem Resolution - We had structural issues which caused some delays but the team kept the subs informed so that they could adapt to the new schedules. I had some issues with appliance installation and Nextstage stepped up and installed by range when it wasn't their job. Much appreciated!
Expertise - Yes. Their relationship with and understanding of the county permit process was excellent. They helped me avoid unplanned and costly structural upgrades by reinforcing existing structural elements at a fraction of the cost.
Schedule - Very close to the original schedule. Delays are expected but there weren't many.
Clean & Safe - We lived in the house during th remodel and the team was great at cleaning up when they left for the day.
Punchlist - We didn't have much of a punch list but it was handled quickly.
Work Done Right - Most was flawless. We did have to re-tile a section of our shower twice because the project manager noticed the quality wasn't up to NextStage standards.
Production Coordination - Very responsive and helpfull with other contractors I had hired for smaller elements of the project.
Project Manager - Paul was awesome. Always responsive. Very good at the technical details and working with the county permit process.
Recognized Excellence - Earl was awesome. Always has a smile on his face and very helpful to keep the program on track on a daily basis. Nor was also extremely helpful to us during the design phase.

Project Designer Knowledge - Next stage provided exaclty what we needed... we had an "idea" of what we wanted to do, but not the design details.. they came in, provided great design options, then were able to merge various components of the options into something we are really happy with.
Lead Carpenter Professionalism - Glenn was always there when we needed him. Keeping us informed, and doing great work. I highly recommend Glenn for the way he interreacts with the customer, and the quality work he does.
Communication - Using buildertrend, Cell phones, email, text. Next stage was ALWAYS there and very responsive to any questions, concerns and plans for how the project was going.
Problem Resolution - Problems were very few and far between, but for the couple of instances that came up, it was NEVER adversarial. we were all on the same side getting the issues resolved.
Clean & Safe - The took what seemed like extra effort to keep the site clean. Every day work was performed was begun and ended with ensuring a clean work environment.
Project Manager - Tim is simply amazing. His openness and availability to talk about the project really made him a friend. He made the relationship in a way, that I felt completely comfortable contacting him anytime with any questions. I wish everyone could have Tim as their project manager.
Recognized Excellence - We had most of our contact with Tim, and our design team Shelly and Francesca. They were a joy to work with and so helpful from start to finish. Sorry to see them leave our home for the last time as the job completed.

To me, the biggest issue with NextStage is the cost. Unless I have something "structural" or that requires solid expertise, NextStage has always been the highest bid.

Lead Carpenter Professionalism - Awesome--and not just because we could chat about WI and the Midwest. Always kept me informed on status, followed up on my questions. Zack was also great on the exterior structural/water damage issue.
Project Manager - I love this guy. Paul responded to every single email and every single text. He has great follow-through. When I do my other living room windows, I want Paul (and Earl) back.
Recognized Excellence - I don't think I had a "project manager" during my first project with NextStage and Chip handled everything (maybe he was lead carpenter and PM all rolled into one). I think for this project, it was helpful to have Paul doing his thing and Earl/Zack doing theirs because it was more like 3 smaller projects all bundled together (so more coordination required).
Additional Comments - I really appreciate NextStage accommodating my travel schedule. I know that prevented the crew from wrapping up earlier since I was not comfortable with anyone entering the house while I was out of state. Paul offered to swing by the house to check daily but that just seemed unnecessarily burdensome to him to me. I believe he was getting pressured to get my project done so this was on me. But I truly thank Paul for offering.

Without a doubt. It is very hard to find a remodeling company that you can trust and NextStage is reliable, cares and is compassionate about what they do.
Sales Knowledge - Taking an old house, stripping it down and building a second story in the attic was an ambitious project and Patricia was ready for the challenge. She never shied away from our ideas and was with us every step of the way letting us know how much things would cost. We also appreciated her professionalism and willingness to talk freely about our concerns before, during and after the project.
Lead Carpenter Professionalism - Glenn was more than a carpenter on this project. He was able to see our vision and skillfully build it and make it a reality. It is obvious Glenn has a lot of hands on experience and I have a feeling our project would have gone a different direction had Glenn not been on the project throughout. Not only did he do all of the framing for the upstairs but he also installed the kitchen cabinets and everything turned out beautiful. I especially love how he framed the dormer window in the upstairs bedroom. It is prefect.
Subcontractors Professionalism - I would like to especially mention Jeff Dean plumbing and the drywall partners. They went above and beyond!! The water in Willow Glen is horrible and finding the right tankless to use and filter system was complicated and we really appreciate Jeff Dean’s knowledge and recommendation on what system would work best. It was also challenging to plumb the new upstairs. Jeff, Glenn, Tim and Jeff S had to work closely to make it work. It was impressive to hear them talk through the obstacles. Drywall, worked tirelessly and the results are beautiful. They had to work with existing plaster as well as new drywall and you can not see any transitions. Amazing!!
Project Manager - We never once felt like our project was out of control. There were a few sleepless nights over exterior siding(not NextStage’s fault) and Tim successfully guided us through every step of the way. He was a shoulder to cry on, someone to give high-fives to, and would be there rain or shine. He called just about every night to let us know what to expect the next day and made sure the project kept on tract.
Recognized Excellence - This project would not have happened without Jeff Schroeder. He was very much involved behind the scenes helping Patricia,Tim and the engineer to make sure the overall character of our old home was not being overlooked. Jeff played a valuable roll especially in the beginning to make sure the overall “plan” was well thought through and every possible option was explored. Jeff understood, from the beginning what was important to us and where we were willing to compromise. He cared enough to step in and share his knowledge and the project was better because of it.

This was our second project with them, much larger than our kitchen remodel. In both cases, there were complications along the way that we would have had a lot of difficulty navigating, but which Next Stage kept on track.
I have used Next Stage multiple times on multiple houses. Each time I am impressed by the professionalism and dedication they bring to the job. Without prompting the make sure jobs are done right, and they react to any detail fixes (touch ups and such) happily. I have recommended them to friends before, and will continue to do so. In particular I appreciate their complete management of all subcontractors, and willingness to work with any specialized subcontractors I bring in.
Employees Professionalism - Everyone I have worked with has been a great balance of professional and friendly. It is always fun when they visit the house/job site to review a proposal or the work.

Communication - The combination of email, phone, and updates in BuilderTrend make for a great combination. We particularly appreciated the regular pictures in builder trend, so we could monitor the work from afar.

Schedule - This project even completed early, as they found a few extra hands that came free and got stuff done sooner than planned.
Value - I am occasionally teased by indications of somewhat lower costs, but I am constantly reminded of the extra details that Next Stage takes care of without asking, and their dedicated management of their subcontractors.
Recognized Excellence - Tim was very proactive is helping us get back to using our space as soon as possible. He managed the project very closely and was very accessible and kept the lines of communication open. Also, I will add, the entire team was a pleasure to work with.

Additional Comments - We are really happy with the results. It was remarkably low stress and we never felt we had to watch our back. It was nice to know that we could trust the company and workers, and not have to keep an eye on the project.
Everything went smoothly with good communication. There was some rescheduling from initial estimates due to subcontractor availability but changes were effectively communicated through online project-tracking website.
It's a complete experience, from the initial planning, design, materials selection, scheduling contractors, movers etc. no detail is left unchecked: very convenient and efficient.
Use Comments - I've used Next Stage/Case for over 10 years on both major remodels and minor ones. They are wonderful to work with, have top notch experts and subcontractors and make sure the job isn't done until the customer is satisfied. I recommend them all the time.

This is the third project I've done with Next Stage, and each one has been a pleasure. In particular they have been excellent at laying out the practical needs of the project, been clear about the schedule, and delivered quality work! Employees Professionalism - Everyone I have worked with at Next Stage (over at least a 5 year period) has always been a great mix of professional and fun. They are all just good people - it speaks well of the individuals, as well as those doing the hiring.
Sales Knowledge - Patricia was great across the duration of the project, she was clear on the initial estimates - and did not over or under promise. So we knew clearly what we were getting into. Surprises and change orders were handled promptly and well.
Project Designer Knowledge - Corina was great, even having to pick up the project after a personnel change - it was handled smoothly, and with no issues. We were very pleased with the design, design options, and ability to ensure what we wanted was best captured.
Lead Carpenter Professionalism - I've worked with Glenn on two projects now. I am always comfortable having him in my home, attended or not. He is great about asking where there are decisions, and just doing good work everywhere else. Even the smallest thing (hanging a towel rod) gets attention, ensuring at least one end was in wood so it will be extra sturdy.
Professional & Organized - Next Stage has always been professional and organized. Planning phases and options are always clearly laid out, the ordering/materials plan is always complete - and this time, even with COVID disruptions (forced work stoppages by the county), they still were.
Communication - Next Stage uses email, phone, text, and an App - and they use them well. They have great attention to detail, to make sure questions are answered, reminders and notices are clear, and we always know what's next.
Problem Resolution - The only problem on this project was induced by COVID-19 restrictions. Next Stage was excellent at keeping us informed (we did not have to look up the rules ourselves), and also being flexible on restarting so we could get our own plans in order.
Expertise - Between their own staff, and the trades the work with, there has never been a topic that they did not cover.
Schedule - Only COVID-19 interfered with the schedule, and Next Stage handled that very well.
Subcontractors Professionalism - I enjoy the folks from the trades that Next Stage works with almost as much as the Next Stage folks!
Recognized Excellence - On this project, Tim was exceptionally helpful navigating the COVID-19 induced disruptions, helping keep us aware of what was going on (as we moved out this time), and adapting to any changes.
Project Manager - Tim was absolutely great. Very professional and addressed All of our issues!!!

Additional Comments - We did a kitchen refresh and despite a pandemic year it was completed On budget and within a reasonable time and looked As good as the computer generated mockups when NextDoor originally designed our new kitchen. There were no issues in getting final approval by the City of San Jose. It was great working with a licensed and insured contractor who obtained appropriate permits. We would not hesitate to use Next Stage in our next project.
We have worked with contractors before, but working with NextStage is a completely different animal. We got a designer who gave us the perfect plan and finishes, a project designer to take us through the processes with minimal issues and fantastic carpenters who did the lion's share of the work.

Professional & Organized - Our experience with Case (Next Stage) was better than we could have hoped for.
Problem Resolution - Not too many problems, but the ones that did come up were handled perfectly.

Schedule - The schedule did get extended because of COVID-19 and the shelter-in-place order, however, they did everything they could to get our project finished in a timely manner, despite these issues that were beyond their control. We were very happy that the delay was not nearly as bad as it could have been. Since the delay was not in their control, I am still giving them a "strongly agree," because they did their best to keep the delay to a minimum.
Budget - The only additional money at the end was due to some things we asked them to do as they went along and this was entirely reasonable.
Clean & Safe - They always made sure that everything was cleaned up by the end of every workday.
Construction Quality - Everything was just as I'd hoped it would be.
Punchlist - Again, some things got extended because of COVID-19. However, they still did everything they could to keep everything moving.
Value - I believe we got what we paid for. Considering we were getting our kitchen designed, gutted, and custom-built, I believe we could not have gotten the quality of work if we'd paid less.
Project Manager - Tim was great. He was always responsive to our needs and he was wonderful to work with. He inherited our project about halfway in, but immediately got up to speed and was always available when we needed him. When the shelter-in-place order came down, he kept communicating with us so we would know what the status of our project was. He was very helpful.
Recognized Excellence - Everyone we worked with were wonderful- we were especially happy with Tim Kistler and Shelly Yoder. Tim became our project manager suddenly when our previous project manager left and he immediately familiarized himself with the project. He was always willing to help us out, and respond to all our needs. He went above and beyond. Shelly was wonderful as a designer. She went out of her way to find materials that we liked, even matching our light fixtures to our existing lights. And she always seemed to know exactly what our tastes would be.
Additional Comments - I'm so happy that we went with Case/Next Stage for our kitchen remodel. Everything was done well and timely. I'm so happy with the final product, everything is exactly what I'd hoped for.
Recognized Excellence - Jerry has been very helpful. He has a lot of skills, experience, and knowledge in the work that he does.All the regular staff leave my house clean and neat but not always the subcontractor/s. Overall, everyone that were involved in the renovation were pleasant to work with. They can be trusted as they have the expertise to do the work right. Thank you. I really appreciate it.
Recognized Excellence - Gary Frazier was very helpful during the first stages of the project. Gerry Aguilar did excellent work, carpentry and electrical, throughout our project. Shelly Yoder was outstanding. We are very happy with her design, features, and overall look of the finished remodel. She worked with us during all stages with consideration and good cheer -- planning, initial design and subsequent choices, choice of materials and appliances, and much more.
My kitchen remodeling project exceeded my expectations! My project team listened to my wants & needs, worked diligently on every aspect of my project in order to create the kitchen of my dreams. Communication was excellent; the team arrived each day on time and took care to clean up at the end of the day. My Case team, as well as subcontractors, were courteous and professional. I could not have asked for a more positive experience experience.

I found the extra cost to not be worth the money.My main concern was schedule and cost. Both were not well tracked. We had a fairly complex home expansion which required new foundation, new bath, new laundry. I would not recommend Next Stage for this.The project ran 6 months over schedule. Some of this was due to the city permit office being slow, but the majority was due to poor project management, cost estimation, and design issues. Here are a few examples of many:1. Their framing subcontractor incorrectly laid out the footings for our foundation. I noticed this the day before they were going to pour concrete; Next Stage's project manager never noticed. This was common for many items during the project; I felt like I needed to check their work to prevent backtracking.2. They tried to charge me for things that were poorly estimated at the end of the project: They did not install a laundry ventilation fan as required by code; the city caught this on the final inspection. Next Stage then fired our project manger and brought on a new one; another 2 week delay to get up to speed. He then called a second final inspection without fixing the issue, hoping the city wouldn't notice. The city noticed, and required a third final inspection. All the while, I'm paying for the city's time to do this, and Next Stage was trying to get me to pay for it (even though it was clearly required by code). Next stage should have estimated this in their original quote.3. The final window placements and door placements were off, and therefore looked uneven and uncentered. The designer created detailed plans not including thicknesses for drywall. Therefore, the subcontractors assumed the plans were for rough framing. Very poor communication between Next Stage and their framing subcontractor required many fixes and schedule delays. We had a baby on the way, so we did not have time to fix most of the issues, and had to live with them.4. Before the time my project ended, there was so much Next-Stage employee turn-over, that my original saleswoman, designer, and project manger were all replaced. Each time, there were schedule delays. I did not request these changes; the employees were either fired or chose the leave the company.5. Make sure they actually follow lead-safe practices during demo...6. And many other issuesThe positives:1. Their painting, electrical, tile, flooring, and HVAC contractors were very good. 2. Their internal carpenter was very good, and our replacement designer (after the first one left the company) was also very good.Overall:- Project management, cost estimation, and time management was lacking. - Original designer didn't think through all the details, causing us to compromise on a lot of thing once the building actually began.- Build quality from 90% of their subs and their internal carpenters was very good.- They would likely preform better for smaller renovations of existing kitchens and bathrooms, but not for larger projects.
Next Stage Design + Build was highly professional. I appreciate their expertise and I would recommend them for any home remodeling projects.
