Friendly, knowledgeable, & very efficient.
great service for 10 years
Our team was very organized, thorough and kept us informed throughout this project.
Our project manager, Ashley Jackson, went above and beyond to ensure that our project met our expectations!
Recommendation is on #14… sorry
Areas Of Satisfaction - This is a very efficient, knowledgeable company with wonderful communication skills. The price we paid was less than we expected. The work was done in a short period of time. They helped us to research our options for the style of appliance we wanted. I would definitely recommend them again.
The job was to reinstall the Sun-Tuff canopy so the seams don't show, and cut Sun-Tuff sheeting and exposed end of rafters. At the time I told Parks, the handyman manager, there were leaks from canopy onto the hot tub, and I also wanted those fixed, but the leaks were not mentioned in the contract. The bid was for $1850-2150, and a cost provision for fasteners and replacement closures was included. They did move and hide the Sun-Tuff seams, and they did cut the sheeting and ends of the rafters and re-stained the ends. They did not fix the leaks, but they spent time trying to do so with cedar closures, fascia, fasteners, and finally silicone. The best they could do is move the leaks around, and reduce the number of leaks by siliconing the Sun-Tuf sheets together After much trial and error (at my expense) the leaks remained, and they decided the southwest post needed to be cut about 2" so the water would flow down the Sun-Tuf and into the gutter. I was frustrated with all these "trial and error" expenses and at that point agreed to end the project with a total job overrun of $675.08 above the maximum bid estimate of $2150 and the leaks not fixed and dripping on my head when I'm in the hot tub. I also don't understand why I was charged for fasteners and closures when they were included in the estimate.
The cost is really a barrier for most people and although I stress the importance of the 5 year warranty, people are still very shocked at the cost for the project.
The representative knowledge & honesty,
The contractor that did the work he did a great job & was very knowledgeable.
The estimate for the work done was right.
I appreciate having one company to deal with everything, from design to the finished kitchen. Everyone was great to work with.
Everyone is very easy to work with and the quality is outstanding
It was so convenient to have the whole project, from design to code compliance to construction, all with one company.
Too expensive for the work we had done.
Employees & Subcontractors - Ryan Moore was great. Friendly and excellent workmanship. Very pleased with his work.
From begining to end, our experiece with Neil Kelly staff was excellent. We have already recomended them to friends. We will not hesitate to use Neil Kelly again.
Neil Kelly-Eugene has accomplished 3 big projects for me on 2 houses and were incredibly good at design, communication, and excellent results on all 3 projects. All personnel were delightful to deal with personally.
efficient, made good use of time. and did great job
There were several issues:
1) The term ‘handyman’ services a bit of a bait and switch, as once we got past the ‘planning’ stage, it seemed to become an official Neil Kelly project, where we had Aaron Land, Ashley Jackson, and a rotating crew of workers all involved. There was no handyman involved as advertised or marketed. We didn’t need a weekly ‘progress report’.
2) There were a lot of inefficiencies, for example, the person who does measurements should be the person doing the work. There were numerous times where Aaron came over to take measurements and pictures, but then the carpenter or whoever would not really know what he was thinking and would have to redo measurements. This led to some challenges with the door installations in particular. It also meant using up more of my time waiting at the house, etc.
3) I think we went through 3 ‘carpenters’ during our project, which meant no consistency, as well as more of a chance for something to go wrong or a miscommunication. I’m not sure if that’s normal for a Neil Kelly job, but it seemed like a lot of turnover to me.
4) Aaron was particularly bad at communicating. There were several instances where his email "didn’t work" or where he sent apologies for being delayed or not showing up. For example, he didn’t show to the final walk through, even though Ashley did (though she didn’t do the walk through as she was never really involved other than putting out the key box and retrieving it). I’ve outlined the times below where Aaron’s communication was not optimal.
Jan 30, emails didn’t ‘go’ out
Feb 7, again apology for delay in email
Feb 17, said he sent contract but never got it;
Feb 19, still no contract, apologized for delay
Apr 17, another email apparently lost to ‘ghost world’ he says
Apr 28, didn’t show to final walk through, no text or email, Ashley told me
In the end, we won’t recommend Neil Kelly to any of our friends and won’t be using your services again. The work done is fine, but it was poorly managed and extreme overkill for the project we needed. Given how much we paid, we expected better management and a smoother process. There seems to be a premium put on email/phone surveys at the end of the project, but we needed less of that and more actual work/consistency.
The quality and workmanship was impeccable! And the overall experience was actually fun!
The communication was OK, the implementation was plagued by too many mistakes (that were mostly caught by the homeowners, not the project manager) and redos. The end result as not as good as we had hoped.
Communication - The flow of communication was constant and professional. This was among the better elements of the project.
The carpenters made good recommendations and did a good job.
Aaron was very perfessi
Neil Kelly Construction is very professional, efficient, and has very skilled craftsmen working for them.
Lead Source - A neighbor referred me.
They do amazing work. They are great people.
We have contracted with Neil Kelly for several projects and would always recommend!
Excellent communication and workmanship, and pleasure to work with!
Parks McCants assisted me with a modest kitchen upgrade project that included the installation of a new range hood, new lighting, and the finish work (drywall and painting) associated with a skylight that a roofer installed. Parks was communicative, prompt, and polite. He was quickly able to put together an estimate, assist me in making some design decisions, assemble a team of contractors, and execute on the work. The contractors were also very polite, courteous, and professional. My wife and I are very happy with the final product. We would definitely work with Parks and Neil Kelly again on another remodel project.
Our project took longer than forecasted. This happened largely due to the main carpenter's absence. Further delays occurred because many flaws had to be pointed out by the client. We had the feeling that quality control rested with us. Some basic details were overlooked by Neil Kelly (building code requirements) appliance placement, and cabinet crown molding and trim that required repeated cosmetic adjustments were some of the challenges. The reputation exceeds the experience.
We weren't sure what to expect initially but Magda, with her vision and concept designs, soon convinced us to move forward with a major remodel we hadn't originally envisioned. We couldn't be happier with the end result.
The company did amazing work!
We are so very pleased with the results of the remodel ( kitchen, entry, pantry, family room). It fits how we live and brings us joy every day. Well done Stephanie, Aaron and your teams. We appreciate your work and care.
We are very happy that we chose Neil Kelly to take on our projects.
The attention to construction and craftmanship detail is impressive. They were very flexible working around our schedule since we were living and working in the house during the bathroom remodel.
Working with the team through out our remodel process was very positive. Magda, our design expert, was fabulous in helping putting things all together. Her eye for color and what works was what we needed.. Aaron and his crew kept us informed throughout the entire process so we knew what was coming up next. Our few changes that we came up with were met with a positive, yes that can be done, change to the original plan. All of the contractors that came for electrical, plumbing, painting and flooring were superb. Everyone that came to the house, whether a trade person, Neil-Kelly person or inspector greeted our little Yorkie, Pickle with a chuckle.
Chuck, who came out, was wonderful to deal with. He was so personable and caring, and took care of all of our needs. The person in the payment department was incredibly helpful, and I really appreciated that.
We had excellent service and are very satisfied.
Yes, but see additional, cautionary comments below.
You are given good professional advise on your project. When Quality workmanship is expected Neil Kelly meets your goals.

requested.No surprises in final billing.
In general, working with Neil Kelly was a great experience. The design process in particular was much more pleasant than we expected, given that three strong-minded adults were collaborating to create a large family home. The construction process took longer (by a year) and cost more than we expected. The contractors and subcontractors made positive impressions on our neighbors, which was a real relief. We LOVE our new home, which transformed a ranch style, 1000 sf home from the 1950s, to a two-story, 3000 sf family home with so many special features. Good work, Neil Kelly!
I have used them several times now.
Hired NK handyman services to replace old, squeaking particle board in two bathrooms with plywood.
Since we moved to Eugene in 1977 this 2022 upgrade and remodel project is the third time we have used NK for improving not only the practical livability for our residences, but also the enhancement of the architectural and interior aesthetic beauty for our homes. Each time Matt White and his design team has turned our every desired new feature into a fully developed plan that maintains the integrity of the ideas we started with. The project manager and construction crews again were all outstanding, friendly, expert craftsmen who kept us apprised of the project from beginning to end.
That is a tough one because it is a mixed bag. There were good and bad things. When they started with my kitchen, they did a fantastic job. Rob Schwab, the master carpenter, did fantastic work, and many of the subs did good work. It wasn't until the end of the project where they did finish it. I should not have given them the final payment as I still do not have a completed master walk-in closet. My master walk-in closet is not complete. My master bathroom cabinets under my beautiful marble countertop are not right. At the end of the project, they scaled down. It is a mixed bag there, as for months they did great work, but then they scaled down, and I guess they did not feel they were profitable, and they charged me twice to do the cabinet. I thought redoing the cabinet from the first attempt should have been on them, but I wanted to pay the bills, so I paid it. They did the project wrong the first time, and I am unhappy. I have not talked to the project manager, Parks McCants, since and have not responded to his email about my thoughts on the project, as they did other work for me as well. Parks McCants claimed they went overboard and gave me a discount on some of the extra work they did. That may be true, as it was $6,000, but the last bill I paid for redoing the cabinet was $9,780 or so. I more than paid for whatever overages they gave me, and my master bathroom is not correct and the master closet is not complete. They did good work in the beginning, Rob Schwab in particular, and the subs did good work. I was not happy with the next carpenters who did the bathroom. Apparently, Rob Schwab does not work with Parks McCants, and they could only lend him. I had a false impression that they would do great because of the first master carpenter, but after that, it was not great. It was a mixed bag.
Ron repaired four large holes in my plaster wall and installed drywall on my ceilings. The walls look great. Ron was easy to work with and on time. He did an excellent job.
Neil Kelly (NK) is probably not the least expensive option, but, if you can afford to use them, the project management and quality end-result and workmanship are worth it. I would only hesitate to recommend them to someone for whom the cost would clearly be beyond their means.
I provided the full motion wall mount and prepared the job area and he hung my heavy old tv to the composite rock face above the fireplace. He ground the rock flatter so the mount is tight and right. He was experienced at doing this.
We were pleased with the end result and the skill of the workers.
Absolutely!
Our remodel involved bringing our house into the 21st century. Working with Neil Kelly’s team made our remodel so much easier. We had structural things that needed repair along with our new kitchen and bathroom. Kathy designed the kitchen and bathroom based on what we wanted and then Coco did her magic with the plans. When the project started we had a timeline for everything. It was followed for the most part. Ashley was the project manager and was super communicative in letting us know what was happening! There are always little things that need to be tweaked and they have followed through. We are so happy to have a new kitchen and bath! Love it!
Thank you !
we have worked with Neil Kelly on two separate projects. We have been very pleased with the quality of builders they subcontract to, and their own NK staff. The designers Matt White and Marrisa Barlow really listened to our needs and came up with a fabulous concept. Both project were well managed.
Neil Kelly was easy to work with and listened to my requests.
