Favorite Feature / Design Element - My favorite new feature of the project would be, the flow from our bedroom to our bathroom. It really brightens up the space and is a very beautifully done project.

Recognized Excellence - I loved, Ryan, our general contractor, he was fantastic, very easy to get a hold of, and he did a great job of keeping us in the loop. The carpenter and tile guy also were both very wonderful. Overall, the whole team was very good and we are very happy.

We are very pleased with the work done by Gabor Design Build. From start to finish the people listened to what we wanted and worked to make it happen with an appropriate timeline.

Respectful - Crew worked hard to clean up at the end of each day to minimize the mess to other portions of our home.

Recognized Excellence - Linda truly set the stage for how our project would be managed and let us know the process that it would follow. Her enthusiasm for what she does is easily apparent. She also checked in with us from time to time during the project. Emily was terrific with selections as we worked through our colors, tile, fixtures, and accessories. She grasped what we were looking for and narrowed choices that tailored to our preferences making the selection process smooth and easy. Josh kept us current with what was happening as the actual process began. He readily answered questions and let us know he was the point person for working with the tradespeople to keep communication aligned.

Recognized Excellence - I would like to recognize Ryan Rogue for his exceptional service. He was the guy that ran everything. He was the Project Manager. He was on hand all the time and answered all of my questions. He made sure all hiccups were taken care of and fixed. They got done ahead of schedule.

Additional Comments - The designer who helped me was Emily. She was very helpful and went over things multiple times. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. I plan on having them do my bathroom when I win the lottery.

Recognized Excellence - Tara did an outstanding job selecting finishes that improved our aesthetic while staying inside our budget. Rob installed our flooring and was very interactive to be sure we understood our installation choices. Bruce managed the team in a way that delivered the project ahead of schedule while also working around some timing constraints due to family issues. Everyone we interacted with was extremely professional and polite.

Future Projects

Future Projects - Our second project with Gabor and I would never hesitate to go back.

This was my first remodeling project and I didn't know what to expect. The design was great, the quality of products was good and the project completed on time. There were a few glitches along the way which everyone told me to expect with a project of this magnitude. Ryan, my project manager, was exceptional and addressed everything to my satisfaction. If I was going to do another project, I would use Gabor again and I would recommend to a neighbor or friend.

Communication

Communication - Ryan Rogge was great at keeping me updated and always returned my calls.

The entire project took way too long for such a simple project. There were way too many meetings at the beginning of the project. The project manager should have been involved in the planning stage so there didn't need to be a separate meeting with him to go over the project. Why have designer meetings and then architect meetings. Just adds cost and time. This was just a replacement project no footprint change.

Tradespeople - Appreciated the knowledge and skill of tradespeople. There were several people that deserve special recognition. Carpenter- Isaiah was very knowledgeable and appreciated his skill and attention to details. Willing to answer any questions we may have. Did an outstanding job with clean up at end of work day. Tile- Mario did outstanding work with tile installation . Appreciated his attention to detail and skill. Did a good job keeping surrounding areas in home clean. Plumbing- Tom from Harbor City Plumbing was easy to work with and very knowledgeable. He was able to educate us on pros/ cons of any plumbing issues to help us with making decisions.

Recognized Excellence - Tara and James did an excellent job helping us design our dream basement. They did a great job making sure we stayed on schedule and within budget. Their design choices were perfect and always exactly what we were looking for. Bruce was extremely helpful and involved with our basement project throughout the whole process. He took the time to ensure that every aspect of the project, from the layout to the finishing touches, was carefully planned and executed. It was clear that he genuinely cared about the quality of the work and the outcome of the project. Beth did a phenomenal job cleaning every square inch of our basement. I was so impressed with her attention to detail. The carpenter who worked on our basement was always respectful and diligent while working. He did a fantastic job with everything he worked on. From the painters, to floor insulation, plumbing, and drywall insulators who entered our home; everyone was always so respectful and impressive. We have nothing but great things to say about everyone who helped work on our dream basement!

Since we were out of town for the entirety of the project, communication was important. Gabor communicated with Paul and me if any problems arose. They were very accommodating, flexible, and professional.

Problem Resolution - Very accommodating!

Communication was poor; multiple requests for updates went unanswered. Timeline was more than triple (7m vs 2m) what we were quoted. Initial design plan was not well-thought out, we felt that we had to lead the design process ourselves. Multiple detail oriented issues were brought up throughout design and construction process that were either forgotten, ignored, or pooh-pooh'ed. Issues from day 1 with demo were not addressed until 6 months into the project (broken light shade) and only after we brought up the issue repeatedly. Grout color in 1/2 bath was done in wrong color despite multiple conversations regarding that issue. Demo in the primary bedroom was not completed at initial demo (crown molding), we had to repeatedly bring this up throughout construction. We had to pay extra, outside of our quoted price, to re-finish floors in one of the BRs that work was completed in. The closet we added to the main floor was without a light (we missed this detail in the design portion) and we requested a quote for a change order during construction when we realized our error and never received one despite multiple requests. I could go on, but I think this short list of issues is representative of our overall frustration with communication and execution related to our project.

Excellent team to work with on our kitchen project. Communication was effective and efficient throughout whole process! All subcontractors were awesome, polite, hardworking, and efficient. Our project manager had our back and is such a good person. Highly recommend.

We we were very satisfied with almost every aspect of this project. In particular, highly effective was the design team which well detailed the project and anticipated all the building codes. Also, highly effective was the project manager. Always calm and polite, the manager had an effective solution for every problem except one. The shower pan, the "main event" for this bathroom remodel, arrived at the job site some two weeks late.

Gabor reportedly has all the critical components on hand before commencing a project. Not true for this project. The delay meant that various contractors had to be rescheduled. Despite the project manager's valiant efforts to reschedule contractors, this project was perhaps 1.5 times longer than had been projected.

The communication with this project was nowhere near what it was with our first project with Gabor.

The Gabor team was an excellent choice for our bathroom remodel project. The full design services through the installation were exactly what we needed.

This was a pleasant experience without hassle. We appreciate the designer, Linda and the project manager, Nick.

The workers did a beautiful job and finished in a timely manner.

The project took longer than we anticipated. This was the first job with Gabor and first major house remodel so unsure if the delays and some of the quality is the expected norm.

There were some delays in the project management process that prevent me from more highly recommending GDB.
