Our sixty-year old house had a cramped addition that no one liked using. What was worse, we couldn’t access our backyard easily through it. When it came time to replace the addition, I knew that we wanted to replace it with a quality living space that we would enjoy inhabiting. We also wanted the space to feel like a natural extension of the original build. To complicate matters, our house was built on the root zone of three heritage oak trees so we needed to improve their well-being and not harm them further. CG&S navigated city and engineering requirements to build our new living/dining room, office, laundry, and half-bath. After living in the space for a year (including working at home during the pandemic), we love living here. The new addition lets light into the kitchen so even the old space feels friendlier. Renovation isn’t cheap so you should expect to pay for quality work. We appreciate that CG&S assigned a build manager to coordinate staff, vendors, and city. Staff kept our house livable during renovations and we appreciate that as well. The resulting structure fits our original design sketch while solving the plumbing problems through the root zones. We feel like the space will age well with the house.
I love the quality of work of CG&S! They stand behind their work in case there ever is a problem or if a change needs to be made.
We've had great experiences before. This most recent one had a few problems. See below.
Was very pleased with CG&S. In short (1) they came up with a great design, (2) the "build" portion of the project was well executed, (3) they were very professional and effective in terms of managing the project and our expectations, and (4) they very much made us feel part of the project where they listened to our input, explained areas where they may agree or disagree with some of our thoughts, and worked with us on working towards solutions on any issues which ultimately come up as part of any project.
We have worked with CG&S Design-Build on several renovation projects over the years. They are the best! Wonderful design ideas as well as creative problem solving. We give our highest recommendation.
High quality, good listeners, strong problem solving, in house craftsmanship, compassionate.
I would feel very comfortable recommending CG&S. Overall I'm very pleased with the finished product and feel like my addition is built to last. Thank you!
We love CG&S! They made our remodel as easy as a remodel can be. If a problem arose, I could text our project manager, and he immediately took care of it. Both the cost estimate and the time estimate were accurate. The project was even complete a few days earlier than projected! We have been 100 percent satisfied with the end result. CG&S would be our first choice for future projects, and we wholeheartedly recommend them to others considering renovations.
I have already recommended CG&S several times.
CG&S does excellent work and listens to what I want. There are a lot of scary contractor stories out there and I'm so glad to have found the CG&S team.
Overall, the design was great with 2 notable exceptions...1. Steps were drawn on the driveway which were never built. 2. improper drainage in the garage.
This was our second project with CG&S D-B and we never considered using anyone else. We love the results of our 2013 remodel and the beautiful new 2019 renovations. The fact that so many of the CG&S staff as well as the trade partner's staff were the same people we worked with six years ago speaks for the professional way their business is conducted. CG&S is the best!
Working with CG&S was a wonderful experience. Their workmanship is outstanding. It was a real feeling of peace of mind to know they stand behind their work.
CG-S is what they advertise themselves to be. Professional and efficient.
I highly recommend CG&S for home remodeling projects. I've had them build a very challenging observatory atop my home -- which they did on-budget, on-schedule and with a high degree of craftsmanship and design; and I just completed an extensive kitchen remodel that included raising the ceilings, relocating HVAC/plumbing/electrical, complete demo of what was there and working with Arete to install a beautifully designed Leicht kitchen. While there are always challenges, they are complete professionals who are a pleasure to work with. Have total peace of mind that everything was done correctly and they'll stand behind anything that may need to be addressed.
Fourth project with them since 2008Performance is consistently superlativeSchedules met and never any surprisesStrongly recommended The more complex and important the project the more you need to go with them
Even though CG&S is very expensive we will recommend them to our friends because they got the job done!
Our experience with CG&S was great. We remodeled our kitchen and added a dining room space with lots of beautiful built in storage. We are so happy with our new space!
They were timely and worked with us on getting our home to how our family needed it to be.
We know that CG&S is more expensive than most, but we were willing to pay for a truly turnkey project (not what most remodelers call "turnkey"). We feel that the extra cost pays off in the stress reduction inherent in any remodeling project. There's also HUGE comfort in knowing that if something doesn't go according to plan or if something isn't up to par, CG&S will make it right.
CG&S is top notch. They did what they said they were going to do in terms of time, cost, and quality. The end product looks fantastic. Our Project Manager Justin was always on top of the details, looking ahead to schedule the next items of work with subcontractors, and always had a plan B. He drove across town in rush hour traffic ahead of expected heavy rains to put a tarp over our unfinished (and exposed) roof ON HIS SICK DAY. Totally unexpected, very much appreciated. CG&S has a strong team of communicators at all levels -- we never felt like we were in the dark with what was going on. Their crews are very clean, respectful of your space, and competent at what they do.
CG&S did a great job on a quick update project to my home. They were professional from the very start, provided actual timelines and a schedule - and then managed to beat the scheduled completion date to accommodate my plans. Very satisfied with their design work, planning and execution. I will use them again for future projects.
Since 2001 we've contracted large and small jobs with CG&S and they have exceeded our expectations every time.
CG&S has been my "go to" firm for over a decade. When there have been "mission critical" projects, I have relied on their expertise and quality product. They don't come cheap but I have learned in this business that it's either pay me now or pay me later. I had them fix a problem that hadn't been corrected over two previous contractors. Are they going to nail everything (no pun intended)? Probably not because at the end of the day construction is an imperfect practice, as much as I wish it weren't, and remodeling can be very challenging with its many uncontrolled variables. However, they stand behind their work, do what it takes to achieve customer satisfaction, have been in business in this town for decades, and are actively training the generation to take over the reins.
CG&S is the best. Very professional, highest quality, they have great design ideas and can make them happen. I have used them for years on multiple projects. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Best of all, they stand behind there work and always make things right. Rare find in a contractor. Real peace of mind for a big investment. I highly recommend them for any upscale project.
