They are very good. I would give them a 10 if I could on everything.
I was most satisfied with everything. They are just terrific.
Communication and competence and quality of workers are the two most impressive parts of our dealing with Welsh Construction.
Very happy customers. Thank you, Welsh Construction!
The only real problem encountered with the work performed is the fact that numerous finishing nails were not properly set and had to be set with a punch. This often occurs when the nail gun is bumped or tapped instead of firmly holding the nail gun against the wooden trim.
Doors were hung and trimmed correctly and all trip was neat and well caulked.
The people at Welsh Construction make the renovation process seamless and easy. The work is of the highest quality and I am very satisfied.
I liked working with Lucy and with the rest of the group (Tim, John). The finish work is really nice and I can tell that it is of very high quality.
I am a repeat customer many times over.
Welsh Construction did a fantastic job. High quality work done with honest business practices. They are the best contractors that we have ever worked with.
3rd job with these folks over past 20 years - happy in all respects
none of any degree
Tim Welsh - Tim Welsh - Tim Welsh
I am very pleased with Welch Construction and will continue to use them.
I was satisfied with their knowledge and quality of their work.
We did, in fact, recommend Welsh Construction to a friend.
The quality of the work is very high.
The tilers were exceptional - good quality of work and professional attitude.
Out of all the construction companies I have used over 20 years they surpassed all of my expectations. I could not recommend them more highly. They are professional and communicate well!
I was most satisfied with their reliability and that their communication was superior. They were very knowledgeable and professional in every aspect of their duties.
I was using an interior designer and she recommended them.
They are terrific! If I ever move from here I hope I can take them with me.
I have worked with Welsh on a number of different types of projects over the past 6 years, from remodeling, to a sunroom addition, to home maintenance, to outdoor work such as a gorgeous waterfall. Every aspect of each project was done professionally and courteously, on time and within budget. I believe they excel in organization, communication and creative collaboration, to reach the best of results. The quality of the work is superb and I always know what to expect. . .exceeding my very high expectations each and every time. I continue to be amazed that everyone shows up on time, keeps the worksite neat and safe and puts in a consistent 10 hour day. If ever something isn't quite right, this is a company that makes no excuses, assumes responsibility and makes things right without a hassle. If I ever move, I want to pack Welsh Construction, Inc. up and take them with me.
There isn't any area throughout my experience, that I haven't been extremely satisfied. Tim and Janeen Welsh work beautifully as a couple and give personalized attention to each project. John Thomas coordinates many aspects of the job and keeps things moving forward. I've never met a single Welsh employee on site or in the office that hasn't been gracious, professional, knowledgeable and sees things through to completion. Josh, Buddy, Patrick. . .well, there are just too many to name are simply the best of the best. Lucy is a genius at design and manages to pull all the little details together to make everything perfect, interpreting my wants, needs, budget and timeframe beautifully and makes it fun instead of overwhelming. From the first meeting where expectations are exchanged, to the "book" with schedules, plans, pictures and estimates, to emails and billing, they just know how to do it right the first time, when it's within their control or make it right on the rare occasion when something didn't go as planned.
Susan Moffett, with Southern Girls recommended them when we were working on plans to enclose a screened in porch. Welsh turned it into the most magnificent sunroom imaginable, and that began our longterm relationship.
These guys really know their business and their customers. I continue to be blessed and impressed with every interaction!
Have worked with them for years.
We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Everything in our Scope of Work was done well and professionally. In addition, workers and management went out of their ways to be helpful and courteous. We felt that we were always respected.Only exception was the house cleaning at the end of the project. Crew did not pay adequate attention to detail.
Excellent workmanship and professionalism.
Recommended by respected friend. Also knew about Tim Welsh reputation many years before.
We'll easily recommend Welsh Construction to others.
We appreciated Matt and John. The overall experience was very positive.
I was most satisfied with electrical work, plumbing and the installation of the glass enclosure.
Everyone was very willing to try to meet our needs and address our concerns. We could not have been more pleased with the finished product and the workmanship.
Personally, we could not have liked working more with Tim, Lucy, and John. They are fine people and we consider them to be friends.
Welsh Construction not only provided us with an outstanding addition to our home, but a pleasure, professional experience.
The communication was excellent. Their project manager continually kept us in the loop and handled every concern we had immediately.
This is the second job they have done for me.
I would highly recommend them to anyone who asks!
We would recommend to anyone considering a remodeling project in their home to take the time to discuss their ideas with Welsh Construction. From our experience with Welsh on our project, we could easily give you hundreds of specific examples for such a recommendation but will only name two broad reasons in this review. First, Welsh wisely divides construction projects into two phases: a design and planning stage and then a construction and redesign stage. During the design stage we met with Tim Welsh and Lucy Lyons several times, with each meeting bringing vague initial ideas into ever sharper focus. Tim and Lucy do not come to these design discussions with a bag full of preset ideas on how "your" project looked to them. Actually they are able to do something more difficult and ultimately of greater value to the client: They help you, the client, to actually clearly define what you hope to achieve with your remodeling or construction project. They do that by asking very practically insightful questions about what you think your project entails and by offering carefully considered options to accomplish your construction goals. They describe their process at this stage as collaborative and we would agree. We feel strongly that the four of us came up with an achievable project that none of us would have been as successful on our own.Second, even if you've lived through a remodeling before, it still comes as a surprise all the noise, dirt, disruption, machinery, and seeming chaos - and don't forget endless numbers of people coming and going throughout the day - that comes with construction in or around your home. We've noted elsewhere in this survey how professionally accomplished and skilled Welsh Construction employees are. We also note how conscientious Welsh employees are. They are very aware they are guests in your home and are unfailingly polite and courteous. It may not seem so important at first but when at the end of the day all of the tools have been put away and all the debris and trash picked up you will appreciate that conscientiousness.
The initial conception of our project was more than we could afford. Welsh was very effective in helping us to reframe the project so that we could afford to build it.
Welsh seems to always use the highest quality materials. Their workmanship without exception is exceptional.
The staff clearly made an effort to communicate clearly. They were very responsive to questions and were always willing to explain what they are doing and why.
The electricians were the only subcontractors with whom we had contact. They were knowledgeably skilled and always professional and courteous. The Welsh employees were remarkable. They were unfailingly polite and courteous, always willing to answer questions; they were dedicated, highly skilled, thoughtful, and innovative builders. One aspect of their work practices we'd like to highlight is their willingness to always get our input when there was more than one way to accomplish a task or otherwise get something done. We cannot praise them enough for their work on our project. Although we benefited from all of the Welsh employees on the project, we'd like to single out the lead carpenter on our project for his dedication, attention to detail, and thoroughness in addition to his extraordinarily skilled carpentry and construction abilities.
We had seen their advertising in local media outlets. We could tell from the advertising that Welsh Construction was likely to be more rather than less costly but the quality of their execution was quite evident. We called them first and after our first meeting never considered talking to anyone else. Welsh Construction is a class act.
Very highly recommend Welsh Construction, Inc. Although they are not inexpensive, the high quality of their work, their communication skills, ability to stay on schedule, and professionalism (which leads to trust) made them a fabulous choice of contractor. In fact, we are doing another remodeling project with them and it is going just as smoothly. Really, really enjoy working with Tim and his staff!
Their communications were consistent, timely, and accurate which was very important since we were not around for the remodeling. We trusted them with all aspects of the job and they lived up to the trust which reduced a lot of stress usually associated with remodeling. The quality of workmanship was very high and they stayed on schedule which was fabulous.
Only use Welsh if you appreciate workman who take time to think about their work and do things right the first time. Only use Welsh if you want supervisors who are even more fanatical about perfection than the workmen are. Only use Welsh if you want a weekly meeting with the management team to make sure you are in sync with the contractor. In short, only use Welsh if you want top quality materials and workmanship backed by a reputable company.
Recommendations for top quality durable material that will last a lifetime.
After a horrible experience with a previous general contractor while we were in the process of moving to Lexington from Florida, we sought out a new contractor to both finish that work and to make some much-needed improvements/updates to our new house. We decided we wanted to hire an all-in-one firm, not a single general contractor. Online reviews of Welsh were sound, and our initial meeting with owner Tim Welsh and designer Lucy Lyons was both productive and pleasant. Ultimately we chose Welsh to hire for this project, which rather quickly evolved from simply new windows and new siding to a full-scale renovation (our choice, Welsh never pressured us). In a nutshell, the positives include:*Personal and personalized service: though Welsh had many projects going on during ours, we rarely felt neglected or that our ideas were being simply cast into a generic grab bag of design and construction *A consistent on-site and in-person presence: other than the carpenters at work daily, it was a rare work day that either Tim or our project manager, John Thomas, was not on-site for an hour or so*a sympathetic and creative ear for our ideas and concerns, and quality construction: much of our project ultimately included quite a few out-of-the-box ideas and projects that all reflect our taste and ideas and are both structurally sound and high quality.*The finished product of Welsh efforts all looks great and is holding up well: like any house we notice a few minor things here and there that may need a professional tweak, but we know we can call on Welsh to take a look and make whatever corrections are necessary without a hassle*The improvements, both aesthetic and necessary, we wanted for the house all came to fruition as promised: like many folks, we had some ideas that simply would not work for this house or our budget. Rather than cast our ideas aside or simply shrug them off as undo-able, Tim and Lucy helped us channel what we thought about into what we could do and together we developed a great design that genuinely pleases us. We also appreciate the candor Welsh offered about what would or would not work, as well as the flexibility to consider and to try new ideas.Key points:* A firm like this is not cheap. Standard labor rate for all Welsh employees except owners Tim and Janeen is at or about $60/hour. That includes not only the actual labor at your site, but also design time, research, computer renderings, on-site consultations, site cleaning, subcontractor arrangements, etc. On top of this is whatever each subcontractor charges. And on top of this is a 20% contractor fee to help Welsh cover business costs and still make a profit. It's not the most expensive firm out there, and you will get good quality work and service, but any client needs to be aware of how quickly costs can add up.* Welsh works Mon-Thur--again, not the end of the world, because Fridays off helps motivate Welsh to work that much harder and better, and it shows (and is a nice respite for the client). But if you're looking for a super-fast project deadline, this is something to be aware of.* Welsh offers weekly meetings that include not only your project manager and designer, but Tim. This means that at all levels of the firm, there is both knowledge of and involvement in your project--all definitely a good thing!*Welsh was willing and (often) happy to adapt their typical work plans to accommodate our ideas and involvement, letting us buy directly certain items, complete some aspects of the work ourselves, etc.*Welsh respected our most critical site needs, including the safety of our pets (never the slightest problem in this regard) and our non-smoking policy (barring very rare exceptions when this lapsed)As you consider your options, our advice is to consider all the aspects of a renovation--this is not a TV show! Barring certain circumstances, there will not be tens of people at your house working every day, for example. There will be noise, high costs, a house "invaded" by near-strangers weekly, and other disagreeables. But with Welsh you'll also get genuinely nice people--including carpenters you'll become fond of--consistently cheerful, helpful service, and lasting quality. Again, with very rare exceptions, we also were pleased with the subs Welsh hired--in some cases, exceptionally pleased. No company is perfect, and there are ways Welsh can improve, but they definitely are a sound choice for quality work and great people in our area. We'd recommend them to anyone who is ready to spruce up, refresh, or re-imagine their home or business.
Personal and personalized service, a consistent on-site and in-person presence, a sympathetic and creative ear for our ideas and concerns, and quality construction. The finished product of Welsh efforts all looks great and is holding up well. The improvements, both aesthetic and necessary, we wanted for the house all came to fruition as promised. We also appreciate the candor Welsh offered about what would or would not work, as well as the flexibility to consider and to try new ideas.
We enjoyed working with Welsh on our house and it was a renovation-education! With all this knowledge in hand, we'd both have made some different choices then, and would do a few things differently if we ever worked together again. It was a great experience overall, lots of fun at times, and we're most pleased that we can look right at the results of all the costs and hassles and see or feel the pay off...not the least of which is a dry porch, secure windows, beautiful siding, a pleasing exterior to be proud of, and a shed that became a worthwhile storage area and an awesome "barn" :) Oh yeah, and we appreciate still that we get compliments on odd-ball ideas like the rebar deck railing..it's all a result of working together in our own ways to create something better and --most important to us--more unique for our house to set it apart from cookie-cutter subdivisions and re-sale valued designs. We're proof that Welsh can and is willing to not only restore a house or build a widely pleasing generic house, but to re-imagine what's there into something wholly unique to those particular clients.
quality of workmanship AND material
They were very timely. When they ran into problem, they solved them and moved onto the next step.
I would get them to do work for me again if I ever need to.
Beautiful design. Very professional.
