I have already recommended Van Metre to a few friends, and they were recommended to me by a friend.
Great customer service
First home purchase, don’t have much to compare it to but it was pretty simple.
Sales people were friendly and professional
More attention to detail, better craftsmanship.
I’m more likely to recommend if you allow buyers to pick their options. Every other builder does
The sales and construction team were outstanding. This is truly our dream home.
It was initially a difficult process as I wanted to make modification to my contract a couple days after the 3 day window. I needed an additional bathroom for my elderly mother and continued to recieve no as a response from the staff on site. I wanted the home so much and I had already committed my funds 60K, so i eventually went corporate for a solution. I would have appreciated if the on site staff would have went to corporate on my behalf earlier in the process, so I could have received everything i wanted in my new home.
Another issue, I stayed in a Van Metre apartment rental property strategically to take advantage of the Van Metre rewards program only to be disappointed by the on site staff again by not finding a way to honor the program for a customer.
Finally issue, the day that I closed on my new home January 29th 2025, I received the wrong set of keys to the my new home which impacted lots of things for me and made me feel quite emotion about the situation considering all the previous issues.I brought this to the attention of on site staff to see what they could do for this extreme mishap on there part or the colke time partnership part for the closing process. Nothing has been done to date and I have been in my new home for nearly a month. I don't feel comfortable make a public recommendation considering all that I have experienced that didn't need to happen.
The sales team is excellent and very responsive. All of our questions were answered during the process and if they did not know immediately, they followed up with a solution shortly thereafter.
Everyone we worked with was so friendly and welcoming and really kept us at ease throughout the entire process. The quality of the build is also excellent and pleasantly surprises us every day as we find new well-thought-out details. This being our first home buying experience made it especially stressful and scary for us, but everything that Van Metre did made it exactly what we could've ever wanted it to be. I would gladly recommend Van Metre to anyone I knew (especially first time buyers!) based on our wonderful experience. We felt and continue to feel, so taken care of.
There were a couple of issues that didn't make me want to give them a 5.
Nothing can please everyone.
VM excels in many areas but uses inferior quality items not easily replaced in other areas.
They are good, but I see some things that are not up to the standard, like there is a crack in six months only.
Mostly responsive and helpful. Sometimes the contractors show up and aren't prepared to complete the work on the first visit, requiring another visit to be scheduled.
Yes.
They need to improve in some areas.
Van Metre Homes was very helpful, and the people who work there are knowledgeable. They guided me from the start all the way to the closing of the home. They gave me periodic updates and prompt responses, and we are happy with the entire buying process.
They did not do a good job structurally. About 25% of the timber was broken, and they have not replaced it. I was very unhappy with that.
We are still in the "follow-up" process as we are six months removed from move in. There remain issues, but I am confident Van Meter will address.
The premium price has not justified itself yet given I've had the same poor experience with getting issues resolved in a timely manner. Materials and workmanship are a small step above what I've seen elsewhere.
While I had good experiences with particular areas (Design) the overall experiences was not very satisfactory
Overall experience was not good
Our first but maybe not our last.
This is my second home purchase with Van Metre. I’ve always found them to be responsive and customer oriented. This experience was no different. Rvee, Tracie and Mitch answered all my questions throughout the build process. They made it a fun experience.
Van Metre Homes is superb quality, a tremendous value, and the sales team was phenomenal. From start to finish, it was a very pleasant experience working with Van Metre.
I had a smooth experience from my first appointment all the way to the home reveal and closing. A big thanks to everyone who supported me throughout the process. Paul and Precious from the Sales team were consistently friendly and professional. I appreciate them always proactively keeping me posted on any new updates. Matt was thorough during the inspection review and home reveal. I also appreciate Derek and Karen from Intercoastal Mortgage for ensuring a seamless process, and Walker Title for patiently answering all my questions. It's been great so far being a part of this community!
Not sure.
Very bad experience with pre dry wall inspection and issue reported by private inspection and I had to follow up multiple times to get photos . It looks like whatever Van metre delivers , customer has to accept it .
Great experience with the Sales team and one of the PM during the build process. External inspector also appreciated the finishing job by Van Metre. Reason for 4 stars is not so great experience with one PM who was brought on during the final walkthrough.
My new condo at Birchwood is extremely well-designed and well-built. The attention to detail and the quality of the fit and finish are superb. The layout and materials used in the entire unit are top-notch. In addition, the building supervisor, Cavin, explained everything thoroughly at the walkthrough and made sure everything was right.
Great customer service before, during, and after move-in.
I think they're using good materials. So far, we have been happy with the condo, in the house we purchased.
This is my second home, and I am really impressed by the quality and service that Van Metre Homes provides.
The home is a good average quality. LVP lacks the "L", the 20k upgraded kitchen drawers are very cheap and unstable. The GE kitchen appliances are below average quality, super loud refrigerator (but it is nice that they can be controlled remotely). The heating is uneven and impossible to customize without playing with the pipes in the attic risking your life in total darkness. The 8" risers are unnecessary, it could very well be 7" or less with a little more room. At the same time the 10 feet first floor is really nice, the house is spacious, you can fit a family of 5 or more there easily.
I am a returning client! My first experience was amazing, but the second has been a struggle on many fronts!
They were great, from start to finish and they are pretty responsive and were easy to close with.
I can't really say much, but I got what I paid for.
They are really good, A to Z. They take care of their customers very well, follow up, and do all the right things .
I like it. So far it's good.
Not at all! The construction quality is horrible
The quality is not very good. When I am trying to do certain things to my home, I have found out that it is very poor quality.
I like the extra touches Van Metre does, like the way the baseboards are done, and the way the windows are framed.
The homes are lovely. The amount of ongoing construction is difficult to deal with now. It’s almost turning into too big of a community, but the jury is out.
I didn't have a great exp I bought ions in the past but I didn't get that this time around.
The quality of the construction with Van Metre Homes is not as good as other companies.
The sales representatives and sales experience was excellent. It was definitely customer based. It's the post-settlement experience that has been less than acceptable. The customer care phone number only gets you in touch with a messenger, not the person who can actually schedule or put in the service order. That sector/section of customer care CANNOT be contacted on the phone- only through email. That's NOT customer service. That causes great delays and unresponsiveness. Also, the third party and subcontracting of construction and warranty work is sub-par. Third party sub-contractors are not completing their work properly and then the buyer has to deal with the damage and delayed warranty work. In my house, the plumbing contractor FAILED to tighten the water hose from the dishwasher to the garage disposal drain, causing major water damage to the wood cabinet under the sink. And because it took me a few days after signing at settlement to notice the damage, I must go through customer care and 30 days later I am still waiting to have the company order and schedule the repair. The onsite construction manager should be able to handle any damage issues within one week of closing. I cannot use 2 kitchen cabinets because it is taking customer care months to fix worker errors that should have never happened in the first place. Van Metre seems to only care about making the sale and not taking care of the buyer after the purchase. This is very frustrating for all the customers and does not encourage me to provide any good reviews regarding Van Metre or the quality of their homebuilding.
Van Metre Homes had wonderful customer service every step and went above and beyond to insure the homeowners were happy with their purchase, and it was appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed working with them throughout the process.
I am very likely to recommend them to a friend; they were outstanding.
Everything seems good now but need time to see how it weathers.
