We are delighted with the end product. Guy, our site manager, is a real asset to the company and we are so fortunate that he was assigned to our project. His attention to detail and craftsmanship make the kitchen special. The project finished exactly as quoted, and when we had some unforeseen findings they were resolved smoothly. We would recommend using SJ Janis to others.

In February of 2021, we contracted with S.J. Janis to do a basement remodel at our 1938 home in Milwaukee. The project included a rec room, bathroom and laundry room. From the start, our experience was completely positive. Starting with our initial meeting with Casey, we were set at ease as he ascertained what we wanted and gave us a general cost expectation and a realistic time frame to complete the project. As with most projects, ideas and desires may change but we always felt as though we were listened to as regards to what we wanted. (As opposed to one potential contractor who we had consulted about our project who only seemed interested in doing the project one way regardless of what we may have suggested). We went through several modifications of the plan eventually arriving at one we were completely happy with. Sarah was excellent in listening to our questions and thoughts and offered great suggestions for implementing changes to the plan.
It was necessary to do some added work to insure water would not be an issue in the remodeled basement. S. J. Janis led us to competent professionals that remedied the potential problems
The construction phase of the project began in November of 2021 and the project manager was Greg. Once again we were put at ease with him from the get go and he was willing to promptly deal with any issues that came up during this phase. His carpentry work was superb. One of our close friends is a carpenter and when saw the finished work, he especially noted an area of fine work that was done on our accent walls. We just knew it looked good. But now we more than ever appreciate the attention to detail in Greg’s work.
We also appreciated that Greg handled all of the organizing of work detail with the other workers on the project. Unlike an addition project of 30 years ago, where we ourselves, had to deal with our workmen, we were left worry-free as Greg handled all of the coordination.
In short, we would readily recommend S. J. Janis. There were professional, respectful and if any issues arose they successfully dealt with them. For example, after the project was completed, one of the floor tiles came up in the rec room. We alerted Greg who got the ball rolling and one of the flooring specialists came back and fixed it. While there, he noticed that the tiles near the floor drain in the laundry room should have had a grout/filler around them and offered to complete that job, too. So grout/filler was ordered and he came back and did that work too. It is this attention to detail and desire to complete a job to perfection that we really appreciated.

We had a wonderful experience all around. We would recommend without hesitation to anyone interested in a project!

Looking back at what was accomplished during the impact of Covid-19, our project tracked the original schedule so much better than should be expected. There were many acts of above and beyond care and diligence throughout the project. We continue to enjoy our bright, new, modern, functional and beautiful space. S.J. Janis installed a new living room ceiling, recessed lighting, second story plumbing, stone veneer and mantel for the fireplace, and crown molding. Our overall experience with S.J. Once the work commenced, the project manager provided us with daily updates. The communication was outstanding. I've used S.J. Janis for two other remodeling projects that turned out beyond our expectations. There was no question as to who I was going to use this time. Because of the workmanship, communication and the trust I have in them I did the majority of the remodeling while I was out of town, it was very difficult for me to do this as I really enjoy being involved in the whole process. They set me up with skype, we had a meeting every Monday morning where I was kept informed on the progress, if there were any problems we were able to discuss them and get them solved. It was also great to be shown the progress as it progressed. I did go home for Christmas and was amazed at how fabulous everything looked, and it wasn't even finished. I have recommended S.J. Janis to a friend and will continue to refer.
