Pathway was a bit expensive but we knew from the start that they cared about the quality of their work and our experience during the remodel. They communicated status and risk frequently and worked with us to come up with solutions within our budget as problems arose. I already recommend them to family and friends curious about remodels - we would definitely work with them again.

This was our first house remodel we've undertaken and after extensive research choose Pathway Design for the project. From the start to finish we couldn't have been happier with the experience. Pathway was professional, organized and was there step-by-step thru the entire journey. The Pathway team are consummate professionals and the finished result of our two bathrooms exceeded our expectations.

We found Pathway's performance on our project to be exceptional. Their project management, communication, staff expertise and quality of subcontractors made our large remodel project seem quite manageable. Without a doubt we would absolutely recommend Pathway Design & Construction. We had our kitchen and bathroom renovated right before the arrival of our first baby, it was done beautifully, super high quality, stress free (on our side) and the team went above and beyond to hit or exceed timeline dates even when it came to decisions we ourselves made that extended timeline (we asked to repaint a vanity). We never anticipated this project would go so smoothly, with so little interruption to our every day lives and with ease of mind having full trust in the team. Every chance they could, they went above and beyond - for example resetting our living space well beyond ‘site cleanup’, giving us extra options to increase storage space and extend the counter and just general quick smart thinking on the job that helped us move along to the best result!

We easily had trust in the team, not just because of the results but from constant communication with daily logs, weekly meetings and very frequent text discussions whenever there was something quick to discuss. Our project was also a little more challenging in terms of access because we live in a lot with 3 townhouses and we are furthest back from the street which means trucks and equipment had to go past our neighbors and use the shared driveway - we heard from our neighbors that it was not a bother at all which is another testament to excellent management of the project. Our trust also came from the team being amazing to work with, all super great people looking to do an amazing job within the scope of what we want and work with us to get there!

Every Pathway employee and associate was courteous and conscientious—so important in a close-quarters, multi-story condominium community. This was the second time I’ve used Pathway. As was the case the first time, the work was top-quality—and in some respects, even better.

This was our first major home renovation (finishing the basement into an ADU) and the process could not have been more smoother and transparent from the design phase and throughout the construction phase. We really appreciate Paul working with our architect to find innovative design solutions that met our goals while staying within our budget. Everything was detailed out in the scope of work, so there were no major surprises. Our lead carpenter, Mark, was amazing to work with and we have been extremely impressed with the quality of his work and the trade partners. Mark was exceptional in problem solving and paid great attention to every detail. We appreciated the high standards of health and safety protocols that were put in place (very important for us because of the old lead paint in the house and we have little ones and it was also during the pandemic). Mike, the project manager, was very responsive and was easy to communicate with and helped to address any concerns or questions promptly. We felt our project overall was handled with a lot of care and we highly recommend Pathway.

Communication - Communication was an important ingredient during the entire process of our project. This was mostly managed through a program used by Pathway called Buildertrend. It contained all of our project goals, the final permitted Construction Documents (and all developing design iterations, comments, and questions), our signed Contract, any historically significant information and photo images of the pre-project spacial layout and conditions of our home, the names and contact information for all Pathway Team Members, including all Sub-contractors. It provided a daily report on each day's activities, questions from both owner and contractor, progress photographs, all specified equipment and materials for review and final approval, invoices, Change Order proposals and cost for approval, and budget and schedule tracking and updates. It proved to be a great tool once we got used to always checking daily for informational updates and possible questions. In addition there were weekly meetings with both our lead carpenter and project manager, as well as occasional request for in situ, situational reviews and decisions for "unanticipated discoveries" in order to maintain schedule.

Budget - Maintained budget with very few Change Orders resulting from structural surprise, owner added requests, and some cost savings options.

We are extremely pleased with Pathway's work on our 1912 Craftsman. Pathway was the most responsive contractor during the initial bid phase and provided the most helpful feedback while we were making our decision. We consider ourselves fortunate that Pathway was willing to adjust their scope of work to fit our budget. Although their reputation for green building was not a key factor during contractor selection, I was pleased with their cleanliness and support during the owner-performed demolition and small projects during construction. They provided an extensive dust containment system and HEPA filters for dust management. In retrospect, I will look for green builders in the future because of my good experience with Pathway, particularly because we did not sacrifice quality. In fact I am impressed with the construction quality. Issues or conflicts that arose were handled in a reasonable and professional manner. The lead carpenter, Alex Merrill, was an extraordinary overseer with keen attention to detail and good communication skills. Oftentimes we would identify small issues during construction with the intent of mentioning them during our weekly meetings, only to find that Alex had already fixed them. They completed their full scope of work nearly on time and with a reasonable number of change orders. We've also appreciated their post-construction support, which has been courteous and prompt. We would certainly recommend Pathway to others looking for a high-end builder.

Areas Of Satisfaction - Pathway was an excellent service provider during our remodel, actually to the extent where they felt more like a partner. No job goes exactly as planned 100 percent of the time, but Pathway always did whatever it took to make sure we were happy with the final work quality. We were also impressed with the cleanliness of the job site. We were at the house for weekly meetings and we were always impressed with the organization and low amounts of dust left lying around. Additionally, Pathway was great about communication, from the outset during our bid process (with Paul the owner), to our weekly touch base meetings (with Mike, our project manager, and Jeremiah, our lead carpenter), Pathway was responsive and accountable with matters related to project management and any unexpected issues. As new, first-time homeowners, this was our first time doing any kind of remodel project. Pathway took extra time to ensure we were comfortable and that we understood each step in the process. They also finished the job ahead of schedule which was a nice bonus.

In a very competitive market Pathway consistently delivered high quality, on-time work. They kept an immaculate job site, were always available by email, text, or phone, and stuck to the milestones and benchmarks established at the beginning. Communication - Mike and Jeremiah gave us ample time to think about and discuss the decisions we needed to make along the way. They prompted us to begin thinking about things well before they needed a decision to be made. Jeremiah would leave mock-ups and drawings for us to consider over time so we could explore possibilities without feeling rushed. All of our questions and ideas were considered and discussed to our satisfaction. Jeremiah also seemed to enjoy sharing his knowledge with us so we felt informed and capable of making educated decisions. This level of communication and management meant that we didn't hold up the project trying to make decisions, we're happy with the decisions that we made, and we truly enjoyed the entire process.

Budget

Budget - We went outside our own budget, but Pathway was always extremely clear about costs of any work we elected to undertake.

Employees Professionalism

Employees Professionalism - We love the Pathway team. Jeremiah, Mike, Paul, Brandon, and all the others were professional, courteous, and really easy to work with all around, and we felt very comfortable having them in our house, with our two young children.

Trade Partners Professionalism

Trade Partners Professionalism - It was an absolute pleasure to work with Jeremiah. We were living in our home while the work took place and Jeremiah not only left the house clean and safe for our young children at the end of each day, but was also truly kind to our family. I hadn't considered the reality of having people being in our house while we were at work all day or getting started before we'd even woken up. We really felt comfortable with Jeremiah and trusted his supervision of subcontractors. Our three year old daughter drew him a picture he graciously accepted and she was thrilled to get a photo of it hanging above his motorcycle at home. We all missed having him around when the project was finished.

We did a huge remodel of our existing home, which included adding a new bedroom, dining room, a new roof, and full energy upgrades. Pathway D&C was one of the more expensive bids, but we felt comfortable discussing the details with Paul and felt, ultimately, that their bid made the most sense. So glad that we went with our gut, rather than our pocketbooks! Working with Paul, Mike, and Doug was a pleasure. They were always willing to talk us through the options, pricing, and tradeoffs in a clear and detailed manner. Their work was excellent and all the contractors they worked with were held to a high standard. Additionally, they worked hard to protect the landscaping, as well as taking every environmental precaution. After the work was complete, they came back to follow-through on little patch work that needed to be done after settling, as well as knocking out any items that we added to the punch list. We have been absolutely satisfied with the entire experience. We were living in the house while all this work was completed and they were extremely accommodating to our schedules and privacy. Additionally, they left the living area clean and tidy after each day of work.

Whether it was a tarp tearing loose in a windstorm or just people rifling through our dumpster, assistance was just a phone call away. 2. Taking responsibility for their work. Throughout the construction, I always felt confident that if anything went wrong, Pathway would stand by their work, take responsibility for any faults that were theirs, and let me know what the options are for moving forward. This contributed to a huge piece of mind that made what could've been a very tense few months quite reasonably enjoyable.

Pathway was great to work with and produced a superb product for us. We would use them again and have recommended them to others.

We were particularly concerned about having a healthy home that did not expose us to toxic materials and provided excellent air quality. Pathway specializes in creating a healthy home environment and did a great job of doing that for us.They were able to do this both in the new addition and in changes to the existing 75 year old house.
