Our home buying experience was one of the most mentally anguishing and physically draining experiences. We anticipated a smooth home buying experience based on their award winning homes and customer service. Montevista Homes made it far from that and even tried to terminate our sale based on “false company policy” enforced by 2 of their sales representatives. These 2 employees set out on a mission to get us to terminate our contract, after our home was delayed due to a construction error which led to water damage to the home. Because we asked questions and asked for protection Montevista Homes decided we were a liability. Montevista Homes slogan is built with you in mind, that can’t be further from the truth. It took the pursuit of legal action by me and my family for them to admit they were wrong, but they suffered no consequences for delaying our home for almost 3 months. When is this builder going to be held accountable for their inaction, poor customer service, misinformation and active intimidation tactics? This has to stop. Remember this builder and ask questions if you choose to build with them and don’t settle for anything less then what you deserve and expect.
You must be thinking what are these pictures from? So 1.5 years later we have to replace the floor due to poor install on original floor and the dishwasher being installed incorrectly and flooding the floor. So sometimes it’s nice to see under the hood. Look at this fine craftsmanship by Montevista Homes. I would second guess your buying decision and make sure you micromanage the heck out of the builder they are untrustworthy and don’t stand behind the product. Here it is almost 2 years later and I still have yet to have anyone reach out from Montevista Homes.
Terrible experience. Our "high quality" laminate floors are peeling. I wish I could add photos! This just from mopping? They are in the kitchen, entry and dining. Monte Vista refuses to warranty. We have been gete over a year and they still have not fixed warranty items. Warranty manager us rude and condescending. Electrical, plumbing, caulking (or lack thereof), all issues we are still dealing with. They really don't care. We will have to replace the flooring because it really is junk. There should be some kind of manufacturers warranty but good luck finding out or getting any answers from Jake the warranty guy. He is insulting and there is zero customer service once they get your money. Which by the way, they end up getting more and more before you close and they have you between a rock and a hard place. Buyer beware!!
WORST home buying experience ever. The mere mention of the word "attorney" had them attempting to terminate our contract, based on a fabricated "company policy" by one of their upper management. I won’t name names, but his name rhymes with “Sleaze”, which is fitting. Thankfully, we knew better and ended up actually retaining our own attorney, just to be told, that in fact, we CAN consult an attorney, and they cannot terminate our contract because of that.
We would have walked away early on had it not been for the fact that we wanted to live on the same street as my mom and dad, so they could be close to their granddaughter, and we had already sold our home. We had to live with family for 2 months with our two dogs and toddler...because of a MAJOR mistake made by the builder, THE DAY BEFORE what was to be our final walk-through. Shoddy craftsmanship at best. After living In our home for a week, we've noticed they forgot caulk along the shower in one of the bathrooms and under the kitchen sink. The backsplash In the kitchen looks like It was done by my toddler; no spacers used. All the lines are uneven...speaking of my toddler, she stepped on a tack strip staple sticking through the carpet with her bare feet. We ended up finding them throughout the length of the floor and had to hammer them down just so we could walk barefoot in our BRAND NEW HOME! This is just a few of the things we’ve encountered. The favorite "go to" line of one of their representatives, is "This occasionally happens In construction." I may not be a builder, but I'm no idiot. What a load of BS. My own (elderly) parents were afraid to point out mistakes during their walk-through, for fear Montevista would try and terminate their contract too. They didn't have heat for the first few days they moved in because the HVAC wasn't even hooked up!! They have hinges of different finishes on the same door. We've also spoken to plenty of neighbors that have had bad experiences as well. This is one SHADY company. RUN the other way if you hear their name. Some of their representatives are nice people, but I cannot understand why they would work for a company that has treated their customers so poorly. What a bunch of clowns.
Numerous plumbing problems, time frames where not met, work is sloppy and unprofessional, communication was very poor, promises were made but not kept and the floors are squeaky. I doubt the home could be sold for what I have paid for it. I would strongly recommend to anyone not to buy a home built by MontaVista.
I have recommended MonteVista Homes to 4 people I know that are currently looking for a new home. Showed them my new home and they were very impressed and were going to follow up
There was poor quality in a lot of things that they used.
Quality home
Monte Vista is the best in this area!
During the construction process, I had to be involved in making sure things were to my liking.
The backyard is filled with rocks and tree limbs. There is a large hole and the metal posts are exposed and allow for
my small animals to get out. No landscaper
will touch it until it is fixed. Three weeks before we moved in we were given a paper to sign re. the fence not being built yet and wouldn’t be for three more weeks. What were we to do? We had sold our house in Florence and had to leave, booked the movers, paid our bills promptly with you and signed everything you needed. We did not expect what was out the back door. Given that our realtor said she thought Monte Vista
was a good builder, we had not even thought you were capable of such shoddy work. I wish I could send you pictures. It has soured our love for the house and no, I would not recommend your houses.
We knew the back would not be landscaped
but it should have been leveled and cleared of debris.
Best residential developer I have ever done business with.
They are a great company to deal with!
Monte Vista has been the best. They did everything they promised and even more.
I'd never recommend MonteVista Homes to anyone.
The quality of the home shows itself. However, the landscaping was a little disappointing. Some of the rocks used for drainage take up quite a bit of my yard space. I was told that this was a code compliance issue but I found that an adjacent development did not have this in their community. Also, the HOA regulations were not set in place until after I moved into my home.
MonteVista homes has been the most excellent to deal with! We love our home, our neighborhood, and appreciate everyone we have dealt with at MonteVista. We highly recommend. This area needed these professional, high quality builders!
I have already recommended to several people.
I would never recommended to buy from Montevista homes
Absolutely!!!
Montevista Homes has the Best customer service, Sales Team and Construction! We LOVE our Montevista Home
The house structure is sloppy. The roof beams are not joined evenly.
We highly recommend Montevista Homes with the confidence of knowing their team makes customer satisfaction number one!
With the changeover of the sales staff, we are more likely now to recommend.
As a buyer, just make sure you know what you want. It can get confusing.
I feel like I had to be really involved in monitoring the progress to make sure issue's or concerns were addressed.
From the initial meeting to the final walk through, all of the A Cut Above Exteriors team were friendly and professional. They were able to answer all of our questions and address our concerns.
