Additional Comments - HIVEX Basements was great with pricing and being honest about everything. I have had problems with contractors before about hidden fees. Chris, the owner, and others involved were upfront on every bit of the cost and every bit of the materials. That was probably the biggest thing for me. I can't stand it when contractors don't tell you the whole story. HIVEX Basements was really good about being upfront about everything.

Our "go to guy", NATE has been super in all areas such as communication, explanation of any issues, knowledge of every trade, & creative suggestions! All the trades-people have been very diligent in their specialties as well.

I would highly recommend HIVEX Basements to everyone! Not only do they provide quality work, but also they are extremely easy to work.

So far we've had a mixed experience. The project is getting done much more quickly than our self-managed projects, and the planning/sales process was very impressive. But the execution has been sloppy at times, and resulted in a myriad of inconveniences for the tenants living in the upstairs unit. We haven't seen the final project yet, so I can't say whether or not we'd recommend them just yet.

We feel fortunate to have had HIVEX finish our basement. We found them to be well organized, friendly, competent and trustworthy; and we couldn't be happier with the finished product. Just as importantly, we were really impressed with how the work was done. It was obvious to us that HIVEX has worked hard to create an impeccable process. From the start, Jess made an impression on us when providing an estimate for the project. She patiently helped us decide what we wanted our basement to look like and took pains to provide a transparent and comprehensive explanation of the scope work - including the floor plan and the agreement – to ensure that there were no misunderstandings or hidden costs. Once construction started, our knowledgeable and friendly project manager, Bob, took the time to explain things, offer suggestions, and remain immediately available to us if we had any questions or concerns. Bob even had his team members put up a temporary fence in our backyard to ensure that our dog wouldn’t get out when HIVEX team members accessed our basement walkout entry. He was extremely professional, kept me informed and accommodated my many changes throughout the project. He was pleasant, friendly and patient. Every crew from framing, drywall hanging, painting, carpet and flooring were all extremely professional, reliable and prompt. My finished basement exceeded my expectations! The corporate office staff was equally responsive and helpful. Someone was always available and willing to answer questions or provide details on the project. We were very pleased with Hivex Basements. Our initial meeting with the owner put us at ease with the work to be done. He explained everything and gave us an estimate right away. They started on time, and we received updates by email explaining the next steps along the way. The questions we had were answered on a timely basis. The workmen were polite and cleaned up every day. The one thing we did not like was that the workmen left the materials behind. We are not sure if that was explained to us at the beginning or if it was in the contract somewhere. It was nice to have the extra flooring and the trim paint, but we didn't need the large container of spackle or primer paint for us to deal with. That should be explained up front, or they should remove it as part of the contract. Otherwise Hivex was great.

Problem Resolution - We had ordered a sink for our bar area, through another vendor, and it was listed with incorrect measurements. This was not a mistake by HIVEX, but they were able to address the situation anyway and push back the knee wall so that everything could fit properly. HIVEX didn't complain about having to make corrections and redo that portion of the wall. In the end, it turned out great!

HIVEX seemed to be ahead of schedule and there were no delays in construction on their part. The entire project took less than 2 months to complete.

We chose HIVEX because they were a family business who took the time to explain everything, make suggestions about the project, they provided their insurance information (which no other contractor did), and their overall reputation that I uncovered through research and "word of mouth" was elite. Their pricing is competitive and there was no hidden or unexpected costs. Everyone that we came in contact with from HIVEX (Jess, Andrea, John, a few of the workers, etc) were polite, knowledgeable, and willing to address our needs.

When I was taking bids for finishing my basement I mentioned to another contractor I was waiting on another estimate to come by as well, he asked if it was HIVEX and I was like yeah actually it is, he never called me back. Now I know why. The finished project looked amazing. We are extremely happy with the work they did. Great attention to detail, Professional. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a remodel/finished basement. They went the extra step that others would not have done. They put up a temporary fence to keep my dogs safe from getting out of the yard. They moved everything out of the basement for me, even taking half of it to the dump. Who else would do that? Bob the site contractor was always responsive, helpful and a good person. They are a family owned local company who does great work.

This company is good at a few things, but lack in others. I think they are very good with getting the skeleton of a basement complete, framing, drywall, trim, etc. This company is poor at finishing and attention to detail.

The HIVEX team, from the first meeting with Michael to discuss design options through the entire project working with our project manager Bob, was professional, accommodating, attentive to details, responsive - 1st class all the way. The effort put forth is what you'd hope to get out of any significant project - top notch processes and communication and feedback.
