We've had numerous guests see the completed renovation this fall, and all have been impressed with not only the overall transformation of the space but also with how the details of the project were crafted - such as the flush outlets at the island or the custom hood which looks great and aligns with a grout joint or the refrigerator cabinet (Thanks Mike!), to name just a few.

We have known the Feinmann Inc since 2010, when we first worked with them on a very successful project in our house. Since then, we worked with them on two more projects, and their work has always been exceptional!

I am thrilled with the results of my multi-room renovation. My project manager was extremely knowledgeable with a good design sense and detail orientation. Her customer service was exceptional. I trusted that she always had my best interest in mind. Cost-related issues were handled in a very fair and balanced manner. Using the "new" rooms for a few months has reaffirmed Feinmann's competencies in design, planning and construction. I would work with them again in a heartbeat and have no reservations about recommending the firm.

Overall Experience

Overall Experience - This project is a major to the studs redo (including structure change) of a major part of the first floor while we continue to live in the rest of the house. From the outset Feinmann’s design team took time to understand how everyone in the house is using the space and the design and finished product truly reflect that effort. They come up with smart solution to maximize counter space while hiding small appliances, which wows without fail every time we have guest in my house as they have never seen anything like it. The construction team took to heart the fact we are occupying the house and from the outset planned and built a makeshift kitchen and dining room. The construction was cleaned up every evening with minimal intrusion to our lives. I also appreciate their philosophy of not working over weekends. It shows respect to their employee and customer’s lives, and it is evident from talking to Feinmann employees they love working for the company. Ultimately we are very happy with this project that was managed to completion (slightly ahead of schedule) with minimal intrusion to our busy lives with young kids in the house. Every inch of the new space is how we imagined we would like to use it. Thank you Feinmann.

Recognized Excellence - I thank Luiz for his master carpentry. Everyday I am using the space I am reminded of his attention to detail and precision craftsmanship. I thank Greg for getting the pieces moving on schedule, constantly having to schedule multiple crews to interact by one day and they do show up as scheduled and complete the task like a jigsaw puzzle.

If someone is looking for a high quality renovation or project with high quality finishes AND is ok with a higher price tag, then I give it a 5 star review. If it is someone who is looking for something inexpensive and mediocre, then I would not recommend Feinmann Inc as this personal service and time and quality come with a bigger price tag.

Expertise

Expertise - Tammy and Greg make a good pair. Greg is skilled at keeping everything moving in the right direction and staying on contractors and inspectors to make it happen. We didn't always see eye-to-eye design-wise, but that is where Tammy helped out a lot and helped get everyone there.

Clean & Safe

Clean & Safe - Thank you for making the barriers such that our cats could not escape. This was much appreciated as the cats are very important to us!

Recognized Excellence - Tammy, Greg and AnD were excellent complementary team! And AnD - he is an amazing carpenter and always friendly and hardworking. He was very patient with solving problems - for example, the door trim between the kitchen and the living room - it was a tough problem to solve but he did it well!

Overall, we were extremely pleased with the bathroom renovation job that Feinmann did.

Schedule - Agreed upon schedule was 3-4 months. The project took exactly 5 months, but some of the delay was due to (1) a grout leakage problem, and (2) our additional orders (painting & refinishing).

Communication - Always prompt responses.

Problem Resolution

Problem Resolution - Biggest problem was the leakage of dark-colored grout into the white crackle-glazed tiles. No one expected this. We were impressed with the attempts to fix the stains. When nothing worked, the white tiles were replaced. Excellent work.

Value - It wasn't cheap, but the job was so well done and the materials quality so good, that it was indeed value for money.

Recognized Excellence - Matt Soraghan was great! He was always responsive, patient, and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to work with him. Also, special kudos to Charlie (the carpenter) who did superior work, and was fun to have around.

I would say the process is expensive but you get the expertise you pay for and you can know that you’ll get it done right.

Recognized Excellence - Ryan and Kevin are simply fantastic. Please pay them more. Whenever any part of this process ran into snags, whether they were initially involved in that part or not, one or both of those two figured out (sometimes over multiple attempts) a way to fix it and make it work.

From the design process through to the finished work, the experience was excellent. The design team did a great job of finding out and designing what we really needed rather than designing to what we thought we needed. The building process was smooth, of good quality and very well project managed - we always knew where we stood with respect to progress and timelines. The finished spaces have tranformed our home.

All we can say is, look no further than Feinmann.

Additional Comments - Feinmann is the gold standard. Between working and moving out of a house during COVID, the one thing I never had to worry about was how my new residence was coming along. They know every detail about how it’s done. No challenge was too big. The team was phenomenal. One of the best decisions I have made was choosing them.

The COVID pandemic started after our project was already initiated and Feinmann met the challenge of continuing to work on our project while ensuring the safety of their team and our family. In addition the work that they have done, their attention to detail and their ability to meet the challenges inherent in any build/renovation project (even in non-COVID times) is impressive. We couldn't be happier with how our project is turning out and we are grateful for Tammy, Eric, Kyle, Andy, Barney and Peter and everyone else on the Feinmann team for making it happen.

I highly recommend the Feynman team. Having one team take responsibility from design through build is very seamless and efficient. Customer Suggestion - During the build phase there were a couple decisions that were made without consulting fully with us - because they were standard practices in New England. For example the risers here are usually painted and hence a lower grade wood is used. However, we thought they were going to be oak and that we will stain them.

Subcontractors: Luis x 2 the tile guys were great - meticulous in their work and considerate.

Overall, we are extremely pleased with the outcome of the project. We enjoyed working with Lori, Charlie and Luiz. They were a great team. We wished Charlie could have finished our project as he put his heart and soul into the project.

Experience with Historical district regulation in Lexington a close second and of course, the overall styles of prior projects published and on their website was a great match with our preferred overall style. Price was steep, but the overall professionalism did match it.

Yes, we have recommended Feinmann to several people already. One family has a project in the works with Feinmann.

Recognized Excellence - Greg and Phil. They both very much respected our space and family which was so important to us because we lived through the renovation. Phil's carpentry work is beautiful and our home was left very clean every day. Phil also came up with creative solutions to solve problems and gave us options to choose from. Greg kept us on track, was always prepared for our meetings with an agenda and project details, had the difficult conversations with subs, and we felt he had our back throughout the process. He noticed when we were not thrilled with a particular element (e.g. our backsplash) and personally came with us to a tile store to help us make the right decision. Another example is when we felt our island was too long (a point that we questioned during the design phase). Thankfully, Greg and Phil responded and addressed this immediately. Kevin did a beautiful job on the stair railings. Tammy was not technically assigned to our project, but was always willing to help when we needed her to provide guidance on the finishing touches. We very much appreciated her time. Tiago (electrician) did great work, cared about the project, and was great with our kids.

We appreciated the lengths that Feinmann went to however in mitigating some of these hiccups and working with us to make the process smoother.

Budget - We ended up over budget, but almost entirely from issues that arose during construction that would have been difficult to anticipate. We very much appreciated the way that these overages were managed by the Feinmann team, how issues were communicated, and in some cases how the expenses were shared. I felt that Ryan and others were managing the project as if it was their home, and this engendered a huge amount of trust when problems (rarely) arose.

Feinmann - We spoke to a number of design/build firms and liked Feinmann's approach and were reassured by the positive reviews that they had received.

We are very happy with the experience we had with Feinmann in what was a pretty extensive remodel. First of all, their design team - particularly Barney - truly developed a great vision for the house, beyond what we had imagined. Through the remodel, which by its nature is an arduous process (living without a kitchen for a while), the Feinmann team was very collaborative and supportive - and the results have truly transformed our house. We're extremely happy with the outcome.

For that project, we didn't use the design services as much ... this time we decided to use both design and build - and we were happy with that coordinated effort.

Additional Comments - Like any long project, there were some ups and downs, and some periods of frustration - but overall, given the complexity and scale of the job, it was well managed. We enjoyed interacting with all the people who came through our home on the project, so that helped. And when some initial plan ideas turned out not to work out as expected, Feinmann worked with us to adjust and make it right. We do feel that they stand by their word and resolved every issue that arose. We are very pleased with the outcome and are truly enjoying our "new" home.

We added a new room to our single-family home and remodeled another small room. Feinmann provided us with a variety of design options for a challenging space - an older, small home on a small lot, variances required, etc - as well as many potential construction schedule options, and were patient while we deliberated the options and worked out our financing in order to make the best decision. During the construction phase they took care to evaluate, accommodate, and where they could, remediate the construction work done before we owned the home. Our project schedule extended from fall through a very, very cold winter, but the dedicated crew worked through snow and freezing temperatures to stay on track. They did lots of little "extras" for us as well. I imagine we were a relatively small and less interesting project for Feinmann, given their portfolio - but even if that was true, you wouldn't have known it from the care and attention paid to our remodeling needs. Thanks for helping us make some very necessary changes and love our home even more!

Customer Suggestion - I think continuing some kind of regular status meeting through to the very end of the project would be a positive change. We had a decent punch list when our regular meetings stopped, albeit of small things, and it was not always clear when things would be completed or who owned the next step. Having a regular opportunity to meet for questions/clarifications/etc until the very end would take some of the angst out of getting those final final tasks completed, on all sides (Feinmann, contractors, clients).

They use top-notch folks for all aspects of the work from electrician to plumber, master carpenter to project manager. We had previously used Feinmann for a renovation of our 1st floor and kitchen. That was 5 years ago and we still are praising and enjoying the work every day. When we decided to redo our exterior deck, Feinmann was our first choice. The design was excellent as well as the execution. When we hit some design challenges along the way, Feinmann's lead carpenter solved them. We had a strict deadline for the project, since we had planned to celebrate our daughter's college graduation with a party that included the deck. Feinmann met that deadline and we had a memorable occasion! We now have had the deck for two months. We enjoy it for almost every meal over the weekend and often during the week. It adds an extra room to the house which we thoroughly enjoy.

Schedule

Schedule - Keeping to the agreed upon schedule was particularly important since we were planning on using our new expanded deck to host a college graduation party. Fienmann finished on time and we had a great event using the renovated porch.

we chose feinmann because of, well, peter feinmann. we loved having him, and his entire team in our home. which, they treated like their own, the entire time they were in it. the work they did is all over-the-top gorgeous. they coached us to select products and finishes that will last a life time (and through our toddler), and the craftsmanship with which it was all executed certainly will hold up to time, too. i admire daily the integration of existing and new, and regret only that in time i'll likely forget which is which. feinmann's team are masterful at what they do. and kind, and polite, and responsible, and responsive. i really can't say enough nice things about them, and their work.

Additional Comments - super satisfied. you guys deliver amazing work, with a lot of really nice customer service. i was reflecting with a friend on the process so far and explaining that i'm so so so happy with the services you are providing, and how you're dealing with everything that has arisen (unexpectedly or not). i'm not sure if i've already written this, so apologies if it's a repeat, but: i also really like how aligned your team is. you all clearly respect each other's skills and expertise and work to highlight them with your customers.

Additional Comments - Your collective attention to detail is mightily impressive. An example: the tiler finished adding a bit more tile over the weekend, and --if possible-- our bathroom looks even better! Your sub contractor was really patient and pleasant with each iteration, and he and Kris had a great working relationship. But, the reasoning and solutioning behind adding a bit more tile around the tub was brilliant, and something I never would've thought of (either the concern or the solution). A small example of your architecture/design/build brilliance!

Recognized Excellence - Greg Lehman and Kris Beder were both responsive to our questions and concerns. Kris was kind enough to lock up our house after he finished up work while we took off for the holidays. Greg helped us figure out we had some room behind a wall to keep the TV and network cables and such hidden away, which gave us a much cleaner look around the TV. That was a great idea! We appreciated that Barney Maier and Elvin Zayas-Lai continued to provide some advice way after the design phase, even though we didn't always take their advice.

Kris is very aware of the challenges of homeowners living through a renovation and goes out of his way to ensure our comfort and safety as well as keeping the project moving forward smoothly. Lori's attention to the multitude of finer details is both impressive and very much appreciated. The Masons did masterful work with the brick---they closed up a doorway. Anyone unfamiliar with the house would never notice a door had existed there---that said, we're thrilled that phase of the project is complete:)

Working with Feinmann made our renovation such a positive experience. Unforeseen issues were quickly and clearly communicated. Peter, Ryan, Kris and team were always cheerful and professional. We came up with great solutions to all the problems we wanted to solve with truly stunning results. Feinmann does an amazing job! Our project was an almost full gut renovation plus addition and we lived in the house throughout. Everything came out beautifully, with some great ideas and suggestions along the way. We are really happy with the results! Excellent experience start to finish.

The Feinmann team did a major renovation and reconfiguration of our entire second floor. The project presented a challenge due not only to the age of the house (120 years) but also to the unusual configuration of the rooms, doorways, and hall. We are so happy that we finally did this renovation and cannot believe we lived with the tiny master closet and horrible master bath for close to 30 years. We were worried about the massive disruption of such a project while we were living in the house. The lead carpenter, Dave, was fantastic and very competent. He was very careful to seal off the renovation space and keep the area contained. He was also very careful to clean up constantly and to oversee subcontractors so that no damage was done to other parts of our house. The project was well managed with weekly progress meetings, keeping us fully informed for the duration

Additional Comments - this project so far, has run smoothly and without snags. One snow day delay and one building inspector delay so far....I'm pleased with the work and minimal impact of construction in my home....Can't wait to use this bathroom!!!

Feinmann Inc. remodeled our bathroom in the South End: gutting the entire bathroom, converting a tank water heater to tankless, adding a shower, and re-routing HVAC lines. We couldn't be happier with the end product and with the team. They were on budget, on time and the product quality was top-notch. While they aren't the cheapest, I never had to worry about the management of the project, nor the quality of the end product. They promptly addressed any issues that we had, and worked to ensure we had a clean home, while they worked - this was especially important as my wife was pregnant at the time. I can't say enough positive things about this team!

Design Center & Selections - Elvin, Kris and Kyle had great chemistry and a design centric mindset. Elvin from a look and feel and user interaction, and Kyle and Kris from a user interaction and implementation perspectIve. We were very pleased with the color schemes and hardware recommendations that Elvin made, and from the implementation recommendations that Kris and Kyle made, e.g. Side for shower door to swing open on, placement of towel rack, etc.
