No detail was too small to discuss and clarify with the Degnan Team at any phase of the project from design through completion. They were very responsive to our questions and helpful with suggestions. Their stated goal was that they wanted us to be satisfied upon completion, and we are. In a project of this size it is inevitable that issues will arise during the course of construction, the question is how will your contractor respond to those issues. We recommend Degnan because we are confident that they will respond in a positive manner to all reasonable issues as they arise.

Communication - We did not move quickly through the design phase because of many personal conflicts in our schedule. We feel that Degnan always responded to us in a timely manner, and were patient in those times when our response time was slow.

Whether they were big issues (cabinet delivered that did not meet specs, we completely change the hood design at the last minute) or smaller issues they were met head-on without fingerpointing and with the goal to deliver an end product to our liking.

We also were glad to be able to visit the counter-top cutter to look at remnants that fit our needs in the mud/laundry room. In addition, we had some design elements (specifically a couple of slatted walls) that were sized and implemented on-site allowing us to be precise in the placement of the wall and island. Also appreciated were the efforts made to level our floor in an area that had sagged due to construction issues from when the house was built in the 1970's. We are especially happy with the hardwood floor refinishing. The subcontractor did excellent work.

After our electrical consultation, when the electrician came to do the work, a lot of our discussed details were lost and either had to be redone or had to be left in a less than perfect state. Every other aspect had a high attention to detail and excellent project management. The Degnan team was caring and giving along the way.

While everyone we worked with was professional and caring, we had some issues with things taking longer than were estimated. This was especially frustrating when messages would be sent via CoConstruct and it took 10 days to get a response, even though several people had been tagged in the message. A lot of the schedule got moved around and we mostly felt like we had to be proactive in asking about what was going on. We also feel like there was some disconnect between the design and construction team that didn't come to light until very late in the process.

Remodeling Concerns - Mainly addressing any of my wife's concerns and questions, as this is her first experience with an significant house project.

Additional Comments - We love our updated house. While making all the changes to the roof due to its age and 3 layers, we are extremely happy we were 'forced' into making the call and doing all of it. If we skipped even one of the additional steps, we would likely look back and regret it. (e.g. replacing the roof, adding foam, adding overhangs, removing the chimney, replacing the furnace)

Fantastic work carried out by great people. My wife and I are thrilled with the look and results of the project!

Use Comment(s) - Kelly, John and Cheryl made my dream kitchen. David went beyond by getting me the countertops I never thought I would be able to have. Dave worked with me to design a kitchen that I always envisioned. DegnanDesign was all that I hoped they would be. Amy was great when the billing came due.

Overall a very good experience, from initial contact, to design selections, to final completion. I wanted a true turn-key solution and Degnan provided it!

Areas Of Satisfaction - All employees at Degnan were very easy to work with and responsive. Minor issues were fixed without creating a hassle for me.

The people, especially our lead carpenter, Kelly, were very personable and had integrity. Everyone was very nice.

Areas Of Satisfaction - The design of our bathroom is top notch. The integrity and honesty and kindness shown to us by Kelly Lawton, our lead on the project was a wonderful experience. We feel our lives were enriched by getting to know him.

Degnan was amazing well worth the money to have everything coordinated so well. The result was beautiful for the tiny space they had to work with. Designers were great and PJ was amazing helping with any little problem I had. Thank u so much for my bathroom I love it!

Degnan is unlike any other building/remodel project we have done. They are very thorough in all aspects prior to signing a contract leaving nothing untouched.

Areas Of Sat: Design Selections Process

Areas Of Sat: Design Selections Process - We were pleased that the custom made cabinets are being made at a lesser cost by an Amish cabinet maker. He is able to match our existing cabinets in design, color and fit as opposed to a general cabinet company.

Co-Construct

Co-Construct - Very easy and effective way of communicating. Questions were quickly answered and nice to be able to go back and review those communications.

We really appreciated how easy this process was. It was a large project and very overwhelming to figure out all the details but everyone worked with us so well to make the most perfect home for us in the end. I really appreciated having a design team to help us figure out how to put everything together down to paint colors and rugs. Every person that stepped in our door was friendly and easy to work with. They listened to every idea and any concern and really made sure things turned out exactly how we wanted them. Thank you all, we will definitely have you back again for future projects.

Budget Pre-Con - We have been all over the place with our budget and they have adjusted to it every time. They have also made sure we were able to do what we wanted within our budget.

Product Selection - This was one of my favorite parts. It is a huge project and a bit overwhelming. I appreciated the design help so much. They helped me pick out paint and everything which seems like such a small task but it helped me so much and I love how it is all coming together!

Areas Of Sat: Design Selections Process

Areas Of Sat: Design Selections Process - The creativity in designs and the process of picking everything out. It's a large project and I have been so nervous about it all coming together and looking good. I don't really worry anymore because the selections and design process was so fantastic. I appreciated all the feedback.

Lead Source

Lead Source - In a group for Epic Spouses on facebook. I asked for recommendations and Degnan Design Build Remodel came up multiple times.

Professional & Organized

Professional & Organized - They were definitely professional and organized. They stuck to the schedule as well as they could even with the pandemic causing supply issues.

Expertise

Expertise - Everyone was fantastic but PJ was awesome to work with. He definitely has a ton of expertise and an amazing attention to detail. He saw issues that I never would have noticed and made sure they were perfect. He always had an answer to a any question I had and was easy to work with.

Schedule

Schedule - I think they did great with the schedule. There were some delays but it was not the fault of Degnan. It was the result of doing a remodel in a pandemic when everything takes longer to come in. If something was delayed or no longer available they worked hard to help us find a replacement that we would love.

Budget

Budget - No budget issues besides things that we added so that was on us.

Construction Quality

Construction Quality - I think everything is great. I have not seen any quality issues at this point. We often just look around at how amazing it is. We sit in the theater room and look at the barn door and just are amazed that PJ made it. It's all perfect and we love it.

Communication

Communication - No issues with communication. Everyone got back to us quickly and I even had to tell PJ to not respond in the evening and when he was on vacation. It was a very dedicated team which I appreciate, just also want to make sure they have them time!

Problem Resolution

Problem Resolution - Any time a material that we picked wasn't available or was not what we thought it was they quickly helped us find a new product to replace it. When the washer flooded the laundry room they came quickly and helped us problem solve next steps. I really appreciated all of you in that moment, it was definitely a stressful moment and you guys getting back to me quickly and getting here quickly made all the difference. Thank you!

Clean & Safe

Clean & Safe - Since we were still living in the house they were really thoughtful about keeping areas cleaned up and safe. We have 2 young kids and dogs in the house and they were very careful to make sure it was as safe as possible for them.

Employees & Subcontractors

Employees & Subcontractors - They employees were amazing, we didn't work with anyone we didn't like and they were all extremely friendly and helpful. We had no issues with any subcontractors and many of them were very easy to work with too.

Value - I believe we got everything we had hoped for the money we spent.

Trust - I trust them completely. It was such a large project and everything turned out great.

Easier Than Expected - It was just as easy, if not easier than we expected it to be. It was a great group of people to work with.

Areas For Improvement - I honestly can't think of anything they fell short on. It was a great experience from start to finish. We threw a lot at you and completely changed everything from what we first came to you with and you all rolled with it and made this home exactly what we hoped it would be.

Areas Of Satisfaction - Honestly pretty much everything but I think the people were the best. Every single person we worked with was easy to work with. They were friendly, extremely knowledgeable and listened to what we wanted. From designing to execution of the project I felt involved and listened to if I had questions or something wasn't quite right. I felt like I built relationships with everyone and I appreciate that. It was kind of sad not seeing everyone when the project was done. Thank you all, not just the work but for making it easy and enjoyable.

Remodeling Concerns

Remodeling Concerns - I was nervous to take on a project of this size and spend so much money. Worried that something would go really wrong, we would find an issue with the house (sorry about the mice, that was gross) or that we would not like what it was like in the end. I don't regret doing this at all and I find myself looking around all the time and I can't believe this is ours and how much I love it all.

Additional Comments - Thank you for turning the house we bought into the home we wanted for our family. It has so many things we always hoped we could have and I still can't believe we live here. We will definitely be in touch about the millions of ideas we have for this house and property!
