How do you leave a review for a contractor that did work for you? It looks as if the contractor must reach out to the customer.

I would like to paint the inside of my front door. It is already stained with a semi glossy dark stain. Can I effectively use latex paint with primer in it? Iwill be pInting the door a creamy white so that it matches the baseboards. Thanks.

I moved into a new house about a year ago. All of the toilets seem to be a little cheap in that: 1. The lids are plastic and come off easily (I don't really want them to ever come off) 2. The chain on the flushing mechanism comes disconnected frequently Is it easy to change just theses parts or should I be thinking about new toilets. Should I just call a plumber or can I upgrade parts at Home Depot?

I had vinyl replacement windows installed three years ago in my 70 year old brick home. Could bad installation (shims?) be causing interior wood to pull away? I've got the usual settling of an older home and have very small cracks around stress points. But nothing like this. It looks to me like pressure from the window is distorting the frame and woodwork. Is that possible? See photos. This is the second floor and I can't see what is happening on the outside. Who do I call to give me a professional answer to fix this?

What is causing the downstairs ceiling to leak when an upstairs window is open? My daughter has an upstairs bedroom and when she opened her window to watch the rain, rain came dripping through the downstairs ceiling, which is in our master bedroom. We keep this upstairs window closed. We've had a roofer come and extend the shingles to overhang over this window and we've had a handyman come to and did some caulking. We were told that the roof was rather new when we purchase the house.

roof vents placed behind 4ft walls in finished attic dont do squat for ventilation. no place for soffit vents, siding is asbestos so gable vents too pricey. whats my best bet for adequate ventilation for finished attic room?

How do you know when it's time to replace your windows? Mine are probably 30-40 years old, but they have storm windows over top so I think it's helping keep the heat in. I know buying windows is a BIG expense, so I'd prefer to hold off as long as I can.

Is it time to replace my roof? I've heard I should have the roof replaced every ~20 years MAX. I just purchased a home and found that the current roof has been on for approx 25 years. My brother's girlfriend's father is a contractor who says it is fine, but I'm not so sure. Can I roll with it, or should I have a new one put on?

With solar panels installed, is it true that you can eliminate the need for power from your local power company? I've heard that homes with solar paneling can be fully powered without the use of the power company, thereby saving you thousands of dollars on the backend after you've paid for the initial install in full
