The walls in the house are about an inch higher than the floor for the walls the along the houses exterior. The walls that are only interior are still level with the floor. We're the two meet the baseboard is higher for the exterior wall and the ceiling corner looks like the outer wall rose and pulled part of the ceiling with it. Floor seems level and no cracks. Was told it could be house sinking and floor should have cracks but after removing carpet floor seems fine except by outer wall. trying to figure out if that's what needs fixed.

I am looking to convert a crawlspace into an angled closet. Who would I need to contact to get quotes? (What type of contractor I suppose) There are LARGE crawlspaces on the top floor connected to both bedrooms. I would like to put the space to better use amd get a decent sized closet. (As well as getting rid of the small janky ones I currently have)

What do you do when a contractor takes your money and runs? Lien on the business? Small claims court? We are only talking $2200 which was requested up front. No communication from Robin Restoration in Savannah GA. Although I was told to stick the money up my *ss.

Our roof trusses we put those foam insulation boards between and fiberglass insulation over it, we put some tape where the foamboard broke, will the tape mold? Foam board and then paper faced insulation covering it, tongue and groove wood boards for our ceiling. One foam board had some duct tape on it, will it mold?

Sanding gets gooey So every time I sand a surface that has primer and paint, the two seem to melt into a gooey mess. Right now Im painting a red door. When I sanded the first layer of red before adding the second layer, certain spots would turn into pink goo balls. I can scrape it off but this leaves a hole in the primer. Any idea why this is happening? And also, what's the best solution for fixing a hole in primer? I tried adding more primer, but that left a very noticeable outline between the layers. Spackle seems to work... but im guessing thats not what I should be using for exterior applications. Any help appreciated! Thanks

How can I reduce orange peel texture when using high-gloss enamels? I am currently in the process of painting my trim and baseboards inside. I've sanded and primed them with no issue, no obvious texture with the primer, however when rolling on the high-gloss (white) paint, I've noticed it leaves a very obvious orange peel texture. I have tried both a foam roller cover and a synthetic one with a short pile but both produce similar results. I've also tried applying the paint thicker but it just runs or appears uneven, and while rolling over the same area a few times does appear to tighten the texture a bit, it also greatly dulls the glossiness. What can I do to get a smoother finish while maintaining the glossy appearance?

Window replacement - how to maximize glass area I'm replacing the 9 windows in our townhouse. They are 32"x62". The views are great, with lot of sunshine coming through. It makes the living room, kitchen, and guest room attractive. Replacement windows will result on loosing 1.25" of glass on each side, total of 2.5" lost glass on each window. A slim replacement window might cut that down to 2". One contractor and Lowes recommended new construction windows, only because of the way these windows are installed. Will using new construction windows, which cost $100. more each because of the extra labor involved, result in more glass area than using replacement windows?
