For the most part, we really enjoyed the design process. During construction when issues arose, we found that escalation to resolution was broken. Our project manager had limited sway with subcontractors and the front office. Warranty claims have been similar, with no responses to opening a warranty claim. Nothing is perfect and I expect there to be problems, How a company handles these problems is key to my relationship with them. Getting problems resolved with Mountainwood was very frustrating and irritating. As one example, after months of trying to get our roof finished so that construction could continue on our new house, I sent an email to the owner. I got asked at various times by people at Mountainwood if I had gotten a response. Eventually, almost two months later when the roof was moving forward again, I got a response from the owner apologizing that he had not seen my email and would add himself to the distribution within BuilderTrend. Evidently it was little help as my next email regarding open issues that dragged the last couple weeks of construction into a couple of months went unanswered and unresolved.

I would say the best part of the design process was how Mountainwood determines the level of finishes and accessories and appliances that one desires. One then gets allowances with a list of what is selected in pricing the house. One then shaps with the designer at their various suppliers. We are frugal and likely spent more than we would have getting exactly what we wanted, but enjoyed the savings when we came in under the allowances.
