I am very disappointed in the paint color. I have no notes of the color that Tilson painted the inside of my house. I have a picture of the color that I chose at the design stage. It’s not the same. Just because I didn’t know the name of the color and I signed a piece of paper I am screwed. Also, I did not know that the ceiling would be the same color as the walls and not white. Also, did not know that the paint would be flat ( which is what cheap home builders use) and you are not cheap. I would have picked stain. This is my forever home and it’s not what I wanted regarding paint color. You nickel and dime us for everything else, you would have thought that the upgrade of paint would have come up.

The tile in the second bathroom is wrong. Again not what I chose at the design stage.

Great model homes to choose from. Overall, pricing is better than other builders. I wish there were more accessories to choose. The light and ceiling packages are limited and not a wide variety of design.

Based on our experience throughout the construction of our home, we would be very unlikely to recommend Tilson Homes. Our concerns go well beyond an occasional construction issue. The biggest problems have been communication, accountability, and the amount of oversight we have had to provide throughout the build.

We have repeatedly had to inspect our own home, identify construction and quality concerns, document them with photographs, research appropriate construction methods and manufacturer requirements, compare the work against our plans and selections, and then repeatedly follow up to get answers or determine how an issue would be corrected.

We have also experienced repeated difficulty obtaining clear answers from our assigned builder, Daniel. We were told that communication was to go through him, yet there were numerous occasions where our questions are not answered or require repeated follow-up. At one point, I was even told, in his words, “No one at the sales office can help you,” when I was trying to find someone who could answer construction-related questions.

This left us feeling as though we had very limited avenues for obtaining information about our own home. We ultimately had to push for answers and escalate concerns ourselves.

We understand that construction is a process and that issues can occur during a build. Our frustration is that we have had to take such an active role in identifying those issues and making sure they are addressed. We expected Tilson’s construction and quality-control process to identify many of these concerns before they were brought to the homeowner’s attention.

Overall, the experience has required significantly more homeowner involvement, inspection, documentation, and advocacy than we ever expected when purchasing a new construction home.

They are very easy to work with. We have built multiple houses. They are like a self-curbside service with HEB or Walmart, where you pick out all of your things, and they have it ready for you. You pick everything out, and they give you a price, making it very easy and convenient.

I had to literally legally threaten Tilson about a contract matter. They finally relented because they owed us money on a contract. It had nothing to do with the actual construction. It was the contracting, and I was exceptionally disappointed with how it was handled.

Colten was very knowledgeable and able to help us build our dream home. He walked us through expectations and constantly made sure we were taken care of. Mike was amazing in making sure we were up to date on anything build related. Always open to communication and making sure things were done right.

We had a great experience when we spoke to the staff and set up the initial appointment. From the first meeting Kim helped us so much find the perfect floor plan to start our planning process.

The entire process has been an experience that we will always remember. Kim has been the absolute best!

I haven’t been happy with how slow the process has been. They have screwed up our floors and then just have stopped on the house completely.

They were very flexible and were able to answer all of our questions with no issues.

Additional Comments - Tilson Homes was able to work with me when other builders would not. Currently, they are in the process of making our dream home come true.

All the mystery and nervousness about the process is eliminated. Tilson professionals walk you through the process and keep in constant contact with you. I feel that I am truly a person and not a number with Tilson.

Design was challenging due to not getting the hat we wanted for certain things and not knowing prices for our changes which usually led to a delay or just forgetting to follow up with a price and just not adding. Drafting seemed to always do what they wanted without reviewing our comments. This process seemed long because of our customizations with delayed responses as mentioned above.

Construction was much more smoother and seemed to be very expedited compared to the design process. Zach was our construction manager and has done a great job listing to all of our concerns and corrected a lot of the small things for us. The only gripe I have during construction is finding all the issues we did not get after construction has started on the areas not addressed during design.

We have just started construction of the foundation. So the only thing I could comment on would be the salesmanship and customer service. I really don't think you want to know what I think about this.

I was happy from the price point. Especially with where we could customize the design. With the price point, we got a custom home at a reasonable price.

There were several times when communication failed. A major one was with the well. We'd already had an agreement with a company to do the work and were on their wait list. Tilson, having already closed on the construction loan, refused to pay the company we wanted to work with so we had to go with the company they had an arrangement with. Had the new company started work on time we would have likely closed in July like expected instead of late September. I can't put that on the well company because Tilson failed to tell the new company that we were moving forward with them for almost three months, which set us back greatly. We had also made changes to the plans with the sales rep that were never done. Our back door, which is a four panel glass wall, was supposed to open all the way in one direction but this one that they installed only opens in the center. We were also told that we were not responsible for providing water to the construction site but had to pay over $2,500 for water and water tank rental. I've actually reached out to Tilson several times about this but never get a call back. Lastly, on the 5th day of living here the septic system backed up into the house. Tilson warranty department sent out an electrician and I watched as he wired the septic system to the house. It had no power running to it so how it passed inspection is beyond me.

I would recommend them a friend because they were definitely a ten.

You build a very good home but there is several areas you could improve. #1 Some of the contractors don’t seem to care are respect the property. Especially the concrete and framers. They do good work but lack respect to hat they leave behind. #2 some of your sales process is misleading in what all is covered. I would be more than glad to elaborate more if someone would call me.

My only issue was I felt it took too long. I loved the whole experience and if the situation come where I need another home built I would use you all, but when I say it took too long I got pre-approved buy the mortgage company you all recommend, and a whole year went by and I ended up having to do the whole pre-approval rigorous application again which wasn’t the greatest, and we sit here now. No construction is being done just a port a potty and a rock road in almost 2 years. I do know that the end result will pay off though.

Every step of the way has been an awesome experience. From designing our home to the final walkthrough. Everyone who asks us about our home we highly recommend Tilson.
