Staff are so friendly and helpful, instructors are marvelous!
Clean facility, I like how there is space for bodyweight/floor movements, I appreciate the hydro/cryomassage and sauna rooms, friendly staff, variety of equipment
Please make the massage machines use once per day for every machine (not just per type of machine) This would allow members to swap to another machine if it's open. Or allowing a second use with a time interval. Thanks
Unlikely if you like to swim since the Plum Street YMCA doesn't have a swimming pool, but likely if you don't wanna swim & do anything else that you wanna do. If you do wanna swim, go to the Briggs YMCA.
Parking is becoming a challenge and problem several mornings
I would say make the group exercises room a new paint job or floor redone. Not a gray color please. It is a bummer there is not child care there anymore, but I understand because not very many parents go to it.
Staff is friendly and helpful, the space is clean and airy, the class offerings are good.
Facilities are old compared to other local gyms and YMCAs (i.e. Crunch, LA Fitness, Planet Fitness, Pearl Street Y). Location and parking are inconvenient. Would love a steam room to avoid going to Briggs' over clorinated hot tub.
The Briggs YMCA is a really friendly, safe place for my family to recreate. The swimming lessons are really well structured and taught by skilled people who love kids. The variety of programming is fun, too. Also, during the cold, dark, wet months of the year, it’s so nice to have an indoor facility to have fun and exercise.
Open atmosphere, friendly staff, good selection of weight machiens. Good parking.
Very welcoming!! Awesome!! Whoo! Hoo!
I love the Y. Staff very friendly in most cases. I think it could use more HIIT equipment and spaces. Additionally there needs to be more clear signage stating that mobile devices/ entertainment can only be used with headphones. There have been multiple instances of people listening to/watching their own shows, podcasts, music, etc loud enough for everyone else to be forced to listen as well.
I'd give it a 10 but parking is horrible, even with the member placards for the dashboard.
I wish that they still closed at 9pm. Otherwise I enjoy all other aspects of the plum st Y
I like being a member of the Y and having places close to workout. Love some of the classes and teachers - Barre (Maren) and some of the yoga teachers; use the well stocked workout room too. The mats need upgrading thought they work. I am disappointed that both places are shoddy feeling as old and not kept up. At Plum - the lockers are sticky making them hard to open and close, the sauna is too small. At Briggs - the lockers room is still funky and shoddy despite the new ‘upgrade’ with too small lockers. It is disappointing that the hot tub dysfunction is so frequent. As a swimmer, I wish there were more options in town as the lap swims are very crowded (not your fault). The price of membership is on the high end for having these issues, in my opinion. You send too many emails for surverys, also. All that said, I am grateful to be a member and love the ‘welcoming all’ culture that includes me! This explains the 7 vs higher score.
I really love the variety of classes available for a wide range of abilities, in addition to access to all of the equipment. I have recommended the Y to my entire family.
Open longer hours and more days (e.g. holidays); more free opportunities for women to improve in resistence training
Love the classes especially body pump with Tammy and Carissa
Weekend hours are too short. My best blocks of free time during the week are Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening, and you are closed then. I can't be the only one who needs this schedule-- seems like it would be true for lots of people with 9 to 5 jobs?
Plum street Y is my favorite. It’s open and spacious design keeps it from being stale and musty smelling or feeling overly crowded.
Parking is a nightmare!
Parking is terrible, there isn't enough. Busy times have gotten really busy and I often am lucky to find a spot. Childcare feels focused on the youngest kids. My 10yo does not enjoy
Friendly staff, clean facility, serves my needs.
It is a very nice and clean place to work out, and the staff is kind and helpful.
Friendly staff and members
I love the plum street why! I always feel welcome, the people are awesome!
Great staff, friendly atmosphere, great yoga class with Jade
The cost is too high
The exterior of the property needs to be tended to more. Garbage especially needs to be picked up on the parameters of the building and on the walkway in front of the building. From the outside the building looks like it's not in use.
Very friendly staff and a great facility for getting a good workout. I appreciate the continuing effort to make the space great. I am sorry to see the spaces for mat exercises and stretching taken up by bikes. It's nice to have space available that's not in the middle of the room.
I like the Recovery Room. I attend weekday class at Briggs as it is close to my home.
My husband and I have met good people when we come to work out, and there’s a friendly group who share workout ideas. I do floor exercises and use free weights and my husband uses a bike and other machines. We come almost 5x/week.
I take a regular class twice a week. I have been surprised by other guests either using the equipment during class or the space - sometimes making class members have to squeeze together, etc.
Friendly staff, low key environment
Staff are friendly and welcoming. The facility is very clean and well maintained. The water massage table is amazing!
Need more parking.
Thank you for asking. Several facilities all within a 10mi radius but lacking in amenities and quality overall. Would prefer focus on a legacy facility (think Burlington's Y or other). Focus rather than spread.
They have the friendliest atmosphere to a lot ive been too...
Purchase parking next door
The weight machines (particularly the shoulder machine) need up grades and more of them.
I love the class I take -- the instructor leads us gently, supportively, and with a smile, to push ourselves through a well-rounded workout that leaves me wilted, but noticeably stronger and more energetic throughout my week. I also appreciate the breadth of machines that can provide some strengthening etc at other times. I enjoy the welcoming community as well.
People are friendly. The bathroom and shower areas are clean. There is a fold down bench shower and sauna. Hydro massage chairs.
The childcare is amazing. The staff is always engaging with my kids and give warm welcomes when they arrive. We love it!
the front desk staff are very welcoming and helpful, the recovery lounge, sauna, workout floor arrangement and the group classes.
. .
It has the standard equipment to meet most gym-goers needs, including mine. It does not have the capacity for many amenities, so it depends on the needs of the person. The gym has failed to create a welcoming environment, much less a nurturing one, among gym-goers. Staff are always respectful.
The atmosphere is very casual and pleasant.
More parking that’s easier and safer to get in and out of!
Parking is a struggle and my new car door has three dings even thpugh I park carefully. I have started parking on the street which is expensive.
Overall atmosphere is welcoming. Classes are both fun and beneficial—I can see a change in my health. The restorative lounge is an amazing and much appreciated addition.
