Since our founding in Clearwater, the YMCA of the Suncoast has grown from its first facility in 1965 to its newest in Citrus County in May 2016. At the time it opened, the Clearwater YMCA was one of the largest YMCAs in the country. In more than 60 years, our footprint has not just grown, but flourished and made an impact on the communities we serve, especially in youth development. I do not prefer the new arrangement of the wellness floor. Moving all of the stability/functional fitness to the smaller room, while also removing the turf is not convenient to incorporate stability work into workout program. No benches, tight space, small/unsantized floor mats.
Universal/lat/seated row system should be located near benches and free weights, not near e machines. All of the accessories, ie different size bars, handles to use with that system are no longer available.
Lower dumbbell weight amounts should be consistent brand as the other dumbbells, i.e. The dumbbells 8 pounds and under have a larger grips, which makes it difficult for women to hold.
There should be more 12 or 12 1/2 pound dumbbells, not just 1 total of the large grip ones.
The YMCA located in Landsbrook has a layout that is more functional.

Like all machine (wish they would have more inner and outer leg machines as I always have to wait till I can use them). Love the wipes dispensers! I would give you 10 if the gym wouldn’t be so crowded.

This location is extremely clean and well appointed. The staff is always friendly, happy to see me, and greets me by name when I walk into the building.They’re always sure to ask me if everything‘s OK and if I need anything. If I I have a question, the information is provided for me right away. I feel very fortunate to belong to this YMCA program. Thank you everyone for being such a dedicated or welcoming staff!

I did bring my child to parents night out and my child reported back to me that one of the staff ladies was not really friendly and, very snappy. My child stated that this staff member only pretended to be friendly when presented into the multipurpose room. I was deeply saddened to hear this considering the Y has a great reputation. I expect better treatment towards my child and anyone regardless of age. I will be closely watching interactions with my child and staff seeing as this is extremely UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!
