We chose to apply OC Titanium FR to our entire roof because we live on the edge of the Spokane River gorge and are at higher risk from wildfires. I spoke with Jeff Faulkner about the need to clean the roof with broom and blower, as required by the installation instructions for this product. He assured me it would be done, but it was not done on the garage, even as he watched, after the protective covering that was temporarily installed while waiting for the correct product to arrive was removed. Staples and nails were removed or flattened but no cleaning was done. After installing the Titanium FR, the installation crew was concerned because the product was not sticking well to the wood decking, even after rolling, and held off on installing the shingles. Jeff decided to proceed with installing the shingles the next day, believing that the Titanium FR ice and water shield will eventually adhere to the decking. I am concerned about long term performance related to possible poor sealing of nail holes and tearing due to poor adhesion. The crew did subsequently clean the deck of the house with a leaf blower before applying the Titanium FR to it, and adhesion was better than on the garage. Deck cleaning should be standard procedure before applying any self-adhering underlayment. This was my one concern, which I have already shared with Jeff. Other than that, Jeff was good to work with and the crew worked very hard and did a great job.

I've talked to some people about my new roof and how great it is, but nobody has asked me who did the work, or what company I would recommend. Even though I was very pleased with the workmanship and process, I just think that the "likelihood" that someone is going to ask me for a recommendation is fairly small. That isn't something that you really have any control over. If someone did ask for a recommendation, yes, I would likely recommend Apex Roofing.
