From the beginning to the end, they were disorganized and lacked effective communication. The salesperson clearly did not listen to our wishes, and screwed up the contract big time. I told him from the start I want all the wood off the house unless it is in great shape. In that case, I can just have it cleaned up and painted. This was reiterated over and over, yet somehow he never put the wooden sills on the contract to be replaced. Then when the first one that needed replacement came up, they adjusted the invoice, I said these were all supposed to be on there, and if anything, we were supposed to get a discount if any were salvageable. They completely messed that part up. They also just painted over the wooden sills without sanding or finishing, like I asked 20 times. He also said Board and Batten can be put on top of the garage without reframing anything, and he was wrong. They actually put it up not centered, and thought that was a good idea. They also dropped the porta potty on my front lawn instead of the dirt on the side of the house, so the salesman comes out and drags it across the grass causing more damage. The hardie plank was supposed to come in with a baked in color, but it came in where it had to be painted. The side garage door was ordered black with a standard white interior, but they brought a white door with gray interior, and said they will paint it black. The manufacturer said this would not come out nearly as nice as an ordered black door. They obviously tried to pawn off a part from another project. The hard part was the salesman was a nice guy, but completely unorganized, and unable to translate our wishes to a contract. He also told us the wrong privacy setting for the side light glass, which almost had us pick a less private glass. When I questioned him on the privacy ratings he had them all wrong.
The crew installed a new porch light but because the porch light base was not big enough for the mounting plate, the lead guy just cut the batten strip to fit around the porch light base without asking me or the project manager. We ended up having to get that removed and redone after finding new porch lights that fit the mounting plate. The mounting plate was all sloppy and not sanded. They also were going to install Batten strips in the porch alcove completely incorrectly. I am not a construction professional, but I measured and mapped out how to install it and the project manager said I was completely correct. How did they not know how to install it? After so many errors and miscommunication, they promised to paint two coats on everything. I'm not sure if they ever did, and we had to keep nagging them to fix sloppy paint. The lead painter was not professional or caring at all. You could tell he was annoyed, but he was so lazy and sloppy fixing things. They left a lot of damage that I have to fix, and a lot of debris. They came back to plant grass, and missed the most important areas after completely destroying my lawn, and not even trying to avoid doing it. I knew they couldn't avoid the grass, but I asked them to use my patio and driveway to store heavy equipment. They always put it on the grass instead and left for the day. The project manager tried to help a bit but they clearly did not listen or respect him. One time they were working on Friday, and the project manager said they had to leave but would be back in the afternoon. I didn't hear from them until 10:30 Monday. They tried to get me to pay more up front, which altered from the contract by having me sign a form. I didn't fall for that shady bull****, and never signed, and they knew they couldn't do anything. They painted over brackets without asking if we wanted them removed. They needed to work inside the garage and needed it opened. I asked them if I needed to move any things in the garage, and they said no, and then I find sawdust all over my mower and other things.

From beginning to end, the work was done as scheduled, on budget, and the yard left tidier than when they arrived. The new deck is fabulous, solid, and looks and functions great!

AJT planned, executed and finished our siding replacement, wood repair project in an efficient and timely manner. The various crews came when scheduled and worked consistently until their jobs were completed. There was attention to worksite cleanliness and safe practices were followed.This is a definite contrast to other remodeling/repair projects that we have done in the past, where "whenever" seemed to be the operative scheduling philosophy.

We bought a 30-year-old home that was in need of some TLC. Met with Cody and pretty much knew AJT was who we were going to hire. This is a well oiled machine. They came in and replaced the deck, while the painters prepped. As soon as the deck was done the siding came off the back of the house along with all of the gutters. The siding was replaced along with black gutters which I never would have chosen without the recommendation from Cody. They look AWESOME! Residing a home and replacing windows is a job for professionals. It is to the customer's advantage if the contracting business has a general contractor's license. The license protects the quality of the job for the customer. I advise taking this into consideration for a project that affects the soundness of a home, for decades and of course it is required for projects with a cost that exceeds $30,000. I did receive many bids, but I chose the only contractor with a license and I am confident that this partnership with AJT means they will stand by their products and services.
