Baxter Construction is unequivocally the finest company of its’ type in this region. We embarked on a two year gut-renovation of a historic home in Princeton, NJ, encountered countless challenges and seemingly insurmountable problems; Baxter persevered and partnered in a way I am confident no other firm could have or would have.

Baxter is one of the 2 or 3 best construction firms in Princeton. Most of the carpenters seem to be long term employees. They know what they’re doing.

We chose Baxter based on some personal recommendations and some examples we saw on Realtor.com and Zillow. The team was personal and professional from the beginning. We met with Jim and Bonnie early on to go over our vision and plans. They walked us through everything and offered suggestions on the best path forward for our renovations. The estimate was straightforward and accurate - any changes were discussed and approved. We worked with two teams. One for a smaller job (master carpenter and some other team members) then with Wayne’s team for the larger renovation. We had a completely wonderful experience and can’t wait to work with Baxter again.

I have had remodels done on other houses which usually involved a lot of down time between trades or waiting for materials to arrive which caused the jobs to drag out. Thankfully I did not need to experience it with this project. I really couldn't have been happier with the team, quality of the design, workmanship and execution of this project and wouldn't hesitate on recommending Baxter to others.

Our experience with Baxter was everything we could have hoped for and more. From start to finish they listened, delivered what they promised, adapted when needed without any hesitation, always worked towards exceeding our expectations, communicated clearly throughout about how we were doing from a budget perspective and somehow managed to stay on schedule. After living in Hopewell for close to 30 years, my wife and I became keenly aware of the fact that there was extensive exterior repairs required to our home. We recognized the importance of working with a building company that would be able to inspect and diagnose issues related to our cedar shake exterior, trim and fascia, roofing, and painting. After exploring several construction and restoration companies, we decided to go with Baxter Construction given their reputation for top notch, project management and a wide range of expertise in many of the skill sets we would require. We were very impressed with their project management from beginning to end of what turned out to become a 6 month project. In working with Baxter, we were additionally comforted by the dedicated staff carpenters that had been with the company for many years. As the weeks and months progressed, Baxter were able to diagnose problems and perform remediations responsibly. We were kept up to date with frequent progress reports from the project manager, and grew to admire the carpenters who explained the details to us along the way. Given the need for carpentry, roofing and painting, Baxter was able to coordinate the process efficiently. This was a challenge given the numerous Covid related supply chain issues we ware experiencing. In short, we are extremely happy that we went with Baxter and would highly recommend them.

From start to finish the job was well organized and benefitted from careful oversight of all aspects of it. Work began earlier than expected and was completed within the estimated time.

They are no doubt on the more premium side compared to other contractors, however, there is a reliability factor that goes a long way. I knew that at no point I had to worry about them not finishing the project, going under and having to scramble for a replacement. You hear nightmare stories, yet Baxter has a solid reputation for a very long time. You get what you pay for essentially.
