Based on the great job they did remodeling our bathroom, we would recommend Trace. They understood the changes we wished to make and listened when we spoke about the money we had set aside for the renovation. The folks at Trace provided us with a detailed cost estimate as well as a timeline for the project, they offered helpful, knowledgeable advice about products and services we purchased and we stayed on budget.

Though the trades people were knowledgeable, skilled, and pleasant the bid was priced for worse case scenarios. What they got was best case scenarios and there was no price adjustment. The result was that we grossly overpaid. We also paid for a dumpster and a porta-o-let which never showed up. I think a better strategy for Trace would be to present the client with a price range that could account for unforeseen problems.

The bottom line is that we agreed to pay the bill as presented but will be very unlikely to use Trace again as we felt taken advantage of. The three stars comes with a big caveat in that the work comes with a high price tag.

Our experience with Mark was that he was very detailed in planning the project but I was quite dissatisfied with his foreman and what happened on the site. I liked the management and how the project was planned and was quite satisfied but not satisfied with the foreman.

We were extremely pleased. They stayed within our budget. They finished the project one week early. We would recommend them to anyone.

I have used Trace Ventures on multiple projects large and not so large. They bring solutions and fresh ideas, really listen to what you are trying to accomplish, have a project management and communications process that keeps the owner up to speed on the whole project, knowing that it will be completed on time and on budget.
