I had to have a special floor pan designed for my house because of the way it was built. It uses 4×6 trusses to support the floor, and they cut a four-inch chunk out of one. The whole reason we had to have a center pan was to avoid doing that, so the communication between the work order and the installer was zero. I had to buy a $300 floor jack to fix that beam, so my house doesn't fall.
A 4×6 with a four-inch cut in it, is a 2×4; that is all you are left, so they destroyed the structure under my house. If I didn't have to go under the house for another reason, I would not have even known. I paid extra to have a pan made, special, for that room, so that was a little nuts.
They don't make a single piece wall as big as I needed, so we needed to add another wall to take up a small a space — seven inches; that was my thing to get done. However, apparently the project manager was on FMLA having a child, and when he came back, he was in a big hurry to get caught up, so it didn't give me anytime to finish preparing the room. The installed the shower in a room with no plaster on the walls and no floor, which meant all the other work had to be worked around a brand-new shower without damaging anything. It was a $25K shower; they could have given me a little more time to prep the room or a little more warning, but I got two weeks and only because I begged for an extra week.
The walls weren't finished, so it is still to bare sheetrock. Since they used bathroom caulk, I can't paint it. How do I add plaster when nothing sticks to bathroom caulk, so I can't paint it, I can't get the paster to stick — it is virtually impossible to make it correct.
If they had waited another week, it would have been plaster on the walls, the caulk would have been done by them to the finished wall.
I am stuck patching up a nasty mess. I have been working on it for two months since they left. When they emailed and asked for a review, I ignored it the first two times. They finally called asking why I wouldn't do it and I told them they destroyed the structure of the bottom of my house, didn't give me time to prep the room, and brought back a guy who had only done 14 installs. That is not an experienced person, hence all the other errors. The fixtures aren't even caulked to the wall, so I am going to have to caulk the fixtures myself or the water will run into the wall.
I called them and told them I was not happy, and they never returned my call. I asked them to send me an email letting me know when they would be here to review my complaint because I have a one-year install warranty and I wanted this stuff reviewed because it is wrong.
All they want is a positive review, and if they can't have that, they don't want to talk to you.
I am not happy with their responses to phone calls.
I'd recommend them to a friend because of their wonderful workmanship, and they cleaned up well.
It was a great experience. They did a great job. I am satisfied.
Bathroom window still doesn’t open. Workmen have tried to fix it twice.
Very friendly, prompt, always showed up when they said they would
Chris my project manager and Philip my installer did a great job.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my experience with K-Designers. From start to finish they did a professional, efficient and high quality job with high quality materials.
Pleased with the way Philip got the windows done in a day.
ALL WENT WELL! ONE QUESTION... ARE THE THREE WORKERS SUPPOSED TO FILL THE NAIL HOLES TO BE PART OF THE FULL INSTALLATION FEE???
The windows are high quality and were installed with care and kindness.
Decision Making Factors - Quality of materials and labor. Company stands by its product.
They don't fit nicely together, and I am disappointed. I would not recommend them to anyone.
They were just plain wonderful and very nice people.
Additional Thoughts - Just an excellent company to do business with!
Overall, we had a ok experience except for two things. We wanted to see three different colors of shutters against our base color. We were told by a manager who shall remain nameless at this time, that it wouldn’t be a problem, they would get the samples to us right away. Well, they sent down a full set of all white, which was our least favorite of the three we chose to look at, and I think they were hoping we would just decide to take them and call it good. Well, no. So, when I called and talked to said manager, he tried to kind of sluff it off, but I demanded to see the other two colors. So he agreed to get them to us. A week goes by and we had seen nothing. So I called again, and got a different manager. I told him my problem, and he said they would get right on it, and that one of the colors had to come from out of state. OK, so I said that would be fine.
So, I finally get a call from a third manager who said he had the colors we needed and he could come by that afternoon. Great. So, when he arrived, the color midnight surf, which is what we selected as the trim color for the house but we suspected was not the right color that was put on the house, was nothing like the sample that the third manager brought to the house. The sample was the midnight surf, which has a blue tone to it. The color the house was trimmed with is not what we ordered, which I suspected all along. I really have a feeling that they dumped a color on us that they had a stockpile of. Luckily for K Designers, the color they trimmed the house with was ok with us. But it certainly was not what we ordered. Disappointing.
Second, we wanted the peak of our house to be done in vertical siding, versus horizontal like he rest of the house. Again, the first manager, whom we agreed to a final contract with, and we agreed to a certain price with, which was supposed to include the vertical siding, was not written into the contract by him, unbeknownst to us. So when I called and talked to this manager, I was told that he wrote it up with the standard siding to keep costs down. So, the vertical siding cost is another $450. That was not what we agreed to. I feel like I was getting chiseled on that deal. But, I had to agree to it, as we wanted the vertical as an offset to everything else. Again, disappointing.
The one bright spot was the installer, Aaron. He was helpful, did a very good job, and answered all of our questions.
Additional Thoughts - The presentation was professional.
Sales Professionalism - Jose spent all the time that we needed on the presentation to make sure that we had all of the answers we needed. If he didn't have the exact answer he made to sure get it right then. Doing this project was more than we thaought and he made sure we were comfortable with everything.
Installation Crew - Phillip was a pro. On time, considerate of our schedules and efficient.
The installers did a very good joob.
The two men did an excellent job. They cleaned up after themselves. They were careful of our belongings, which is important to me. We are happy to have the windows replaced.
Areas Of Satisfaction - They were careful and respectful. They laid down plastic runners on our floor. They were careful rolling it up to collect all the debris
Recognized Excellence - The installers provided exceptional service—the two men who came by and checked on the work.
I will if I get the opportunity.
Areas Of Satisfaction - their friendly attitude was great, and they put up with my jokes and my gabbing. lol
Recognized Excellence - everyone was great, I'm happy at the service I got. great job.
Recognized Excellence - I would like to recognize the boss of the installation crew, Phillip. He was really good to work with. He was very responsive to my questions and so forth. I would also like to recognize Chris. He was one of the higher ups.
