Nothing special about this builder. We had a fire claim, and Charlie Smith Builders was who they sent to provide an estimate. After the initial estimate, we would never see Charlie again.

After months and months of chasing Charlie around, he finally sent a subcontractor out to the house to begin work on our deck. The crew he sent had one person that spoke English which made any type of communication very difficult, and they didn't check on the work before they left to make sure it was satisfactory.

Days later, I received a call from Charlie wanting payment.... which again was fine, but provided no invoice as he said he was going to do. I'm still waiting on the invoice from last summer (2019)... guess I'm chalking it up to the quality of professionalism we can expect.

I waited months again for his crew to come finish the work on the siding, which he made no effort to follow-up or to explain delays. We are assuming that the job was too small for his concern.

When I contacted him again, he got annoyed with me and said that he contacted State Farm to tell them that the estimate was too low and that he couldn't find anyone to subcontract to. I followed up with State Farm and they had no record of communication from Charlie. So I called Charlie back to tell him, and the next day my adjuster called me and told me that Charlie had faxed over a note that said "can't find subs for less than $X"; my adjuster told me that he needed more detail and Charlie said he would send more but never did.

I ended up going with another crew due to the lack of communication. This was probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Now I'm looking for someone to do other work and he has made me apprehensive for future experiences.

Charlie was true to his word and got everything completed when he said.

Charlie was fantastic. The subcontractors were where the issue lied in getting the job done in a timely fashion.

They were very professional, very courteous, helpful, cleaned up everything, and left the work site in a good condition.

Everyone and everything went well. Wish all things went as smooth.

The emergency I had could not have been handled more expediently, professionally, and with the best of service.

I was pleased with the work.

For having never gone through something like this before, they made it very easy for me.

Charlie and his entire crew were professional and courteous with the Reed family. Hilton and Charlie went over the top to assist us at all times. Very satisfied with overall job.
