The process from beginning to end was cumbersome, time-consuming, and ultimately low quality. After getting connected with a salesperson and describing exactly what I was looking for, I was still subjected to a pitch to talk about other options that I made clear were unwanted. In the contract it stated that I would get a scheduling call between 4 and 8 weeks from the date of signature. At 8 weeks I called and got told it would be another week, and that someone would call me. At 9.5 weeks I called back and finally got the scheduler to call me to get it scheduled.
Fast forward to install day. The installer was on time, friendly, and even did great with my dog. We walked the property and he asked a few questions, then stated that he was back on the job after some other work, so he was pretty new, but confident and that clearly the company had confidence in him to send him on a job like this on his own. After a full 10 hours of work, I was left with sub-standard installation quality, including gaps in framing, poor caulk work, and caulk stains and chipped pain on my window boxes.
Upon completion of the job, customer service reached out and asked how it went. I expressed these concerns. The rep indicated that she would call back the next day with a solution. Upon calling back, she stated that the same installer would come out and fix the job. I stated that I did not want the installer who had proven that they lacked the skill to do it the first time to come out and "fix" the work. I requested a different more skilled installer. She told me, on what I assume was the recoded line, that she would connect with someone and get back to me with a solution. It is now 5 days later and I have heard from Zero people from Champion.
One thing that has worked like clockwork - My credit account has been charged exactly on time every step of the way. This gives me a clear indicator of the companies priorities are. My issues is not with any one person in particular, but with a series of moment that demonstrate lack of integrity, understanding, and commitment to the brand promise so thoroughly explained to my by the sales rep. In short, I view Champion as a shady company, and will recommend that no one engage this company for services. The sales person indicated that the company was attempting to compete for business in Michigan for the first time, and while I cannot guarantee that this statement was accurate, I can say the company will need to up their game or lower their price significantly to compete. You can be expensive and high quality, or cut rate and cut price. You cant be expensive, and cut rate quality.
The windows are exactly what we were hoping for
The first installers did not do a professional job. He couldn't figure out my lock so I was left with a door that I couldn't lock until Saturday. They installed my windows on Thursday. He did a crappy job on the trim work. He blew all the scraps that were on my deck from them working into my yard with a leaf blower. He should have swept them up. There were pieces of glass on my deck and driveway. There were places where there was no caulk at all and other places where there was too much. When I first called to complain about the Job and to express my concern about not feeling safe because I couldn't lock my door both the installer and the manager told me to put a broom stick in-between the slider and the frame. That answer was unacceptable to me. The installer said the lock was defective and that someone would be out the next day ( Friday) to fix it at 11:00. Well no one showed up and when I called I was told that person called in sick but yet nobody called me to tell me that he wasn't coming. I talked to the manager and he said that that would be out next week to fix all the issues. I told him that was unacceptable. I am a 63 yr woman that lives alone. That I didn't feel safe. He said he was sorry that their was nothing that he could do. We ended that conversation with me being very unhappy. He called back a few minutes later and said that he would have someone come out Saturday and fix all my issues. So on Saturday an installer named Jeff showed up. Jeff was amazing. It is because of Jeff and Jeff only that I would ever consider using your company again and I would only use your company again if Jeff was the installer. He alone saved face for your company. Yes your manager finally did the right thing but I had to be a complete bitch to get any results. I am thankful he changed his mind and got Jeff to come fix everything. Jeff made everything look like it should when you hire a professional company. Jeff is an asset to your company. Because of Jeff I am now satisfied with the work that was done. And by the way there was nothing wrong with the lock. Jeff had it installed with in 15 min.
Once the salesman got his signed contract and left I was unable to reach him and did not get any response from him. Actual finished product looks cheap and part of it blew off the first day after it was installed. Finished results are ok. Installers were great and manager was helpful and responsive to issues throughout the project.
