Absolutely terrible communication and outright lies from the company office, esp. their scheduler, Kevin. Never returned phone messages and outright lied at least twice when promising to get back to me. When they finally showed up to begin the job not so much as a knock on the door or a ring of the door bell. Instead awakened by the sound of my old roof being torn off above my head with power tools. The "foreman" on the job never identified himself as such, was extremely rude, and seemed annoyed by simple questions like "how many vents will be installed?," "should I keep my car on the overnight street to accommodate you guys?'," etc., etc.All three of my adjoining neighbors were angered by roof debris left in their yards. I am still picking up roofing debris and metal debris like nails and staples on my own property.Several problems trying to contact their office because of their phone system, e.g., calls routed to a fax machine, "the voicemail you are attempting to reach is full" (at 3:00 pm?!). Screw ups with my attempts to pay them (even after voice mails left attempting to give them payment).Never once heard from the owner. . .if one even exists (unlike at least one other company of the same size I recd. an estimate from). Obviously, he thinks he's too important to deal with customers. Only decent employee in the entire company was the original salesperson, David. I still believe they ripped me off for appx. $500 worth of wood that was not used, but no one would ever answer my question about it. Again, horrible communication.I was just relieved to finally get them out of my life.
The quality and workmanship appears great so far. The lack of communication was unacceptable and unreasonable. The delay was unacceptable and unreasonable. Some of it was because of the City, but 50% of it was because of Certified Roofing's lack of communication and just failure to follow up. Three months later, we still don't have solar and we are still paying an electricity bill AND we've already paid $30,000.
Professional estimate and professional install. No surprises related to cost. All in all very happy with the end result.
I contracted for a new roof and solar system. My roof had a double layer of shingles. The crew, supervised by Juan, was very efficient. Juan explained their process and was on hand for any questions I might have. My wife and I were very impressed and satisfied with the materiels used and the overall process of installing a new roof. The solar system installation was supervised by Omar and , likewise, was very professional, efficient and available for general information and questions I had.
CRS installed a very solid Owens Corning roofing system for our complete re-roof. The install team was extremely efficient and the pricing was very good. There were some very minor issues but nothing that would deter us from recommending them to others.
The crew who did our roof and solar installation and the supervisors were fantastic. We could not have been happier with their professionalism, work ethic, cleanliness, and attitude. Our salesperson, David Schubert was exceptional and responsive. However, their office was somewhat disorganized and did not communicate well. I am assuming that they like other companies are having staffing shortages and that is why we experienced this and that it will be addressed because every other aspect of their company was exceptional and I would work with them again without hesitation.
There are some home projects you only have to do once in your life. One of the biggest is getting a new roof. I knew NOTHING about roofing, so I consulted my good friend, Google... Consumer Reports gave Owens Corning roofing shingles (and their "Total Protection Roofing System") a good rating. I went to their web site, where they had a list of "Preferred Installers." Their "Platinum Preferred Installers" go through more training, have to achieve certain standards of workmanship, and are the only ones authorized to provide Owens Corning's best warranty. I called five installers from the list... The first company I called did my estimate over the phone. Their quote seemed very high to me, based on the average costs listed on the Consumer Reports site. The second company I called was "Certified Roofing Specialists" (CRS) in Santa Ana. They were a Platinum Installer. Sales Rep David S. came to my house, and the first thing that impressed me, was that he did not go into a "sales pitch." He asked me what I wanted to do, and he answered all of my questions. He wrote down the information, got some measurements, and immediately gave me an estimate. It was so low, that I had to force myself to not grin or act giddy. I just stayed cool, and then verified what I had just heard... "Does that include the building permit?" (Yes.) "Does that include the Platinum Warranty?" (Yes.) "Does that include all materials, labor, and tax?" (Yes.) I also mentioned that we were going to get solar panels. He gave me information on the panels which CRS installs, and quoted me a price which was $4,000 lower than the solar company we were going to use. He told me that CRS is family owned, has been in business for many years, and that he really enjoys working for them. His sentiments were genuine, and I was impressed by that as well. Due to David's obvious knowledge of the products, his attention to my needs, the speed of doing the estimate, the lack of any pressure to make a sale, and the low prices, I pretty much knew that this would be the company we would use; but I subsequently got quotes from 3 other companies, and all were much higher than CRS. One was more than 3 times higher! I called David, and he sent me a contract right away (for roofing and solar). Next, CRS Roofing Coordinator Irma called me, and explained the entire process. I then received an email from Solar Coordinator Ashley, who helped me set up a day for their Solar System Planner, Omar, to come to my house and evaluate the location for the panels. Omar worked with me to plan-out the panel locations. Whenever I called or texted him, he always responded promptly. (Another good sign.) Two weeks later, they had all the materials, and started working on our roof. CRS foreman "JC" showed up right on time. The first thing he wanted to know, was if I had any questions. Not only did he answer all of my questions, but he educated me on all the roofing steps, ventilation, etc. I even learned that CRS requires their crews to wear tennis shoes when working on the roof, because work boots (which many other company crews wear) can damage the shingles. JC's crew were all top-notch workers... Manuel, the "master framer" always had his triangle ruler with him, and all his cuts with the circular saw were straight as an arrow. Other hard-working crew members were Carlos, Felix, Christopher, Rico, Jose #1, and Jose #2. Imagine manually removing 3 layers of shingles and thousands of nails in the hot sun, all while trying to keep your balance on a roof; then, installing all the new material... Sheesh! They even did little unexpected things, like placing small conical rings at the base of each roof vent pipe to route rain water away, painting all roof vents and other rooftop items the EXACT color of the shingles, painting the top of our water heater vent the same color (to match the roof, even though it is not ON the roof), and JC cleaned out all our rain gutters (which had debris in them BEFORE the roofing project). While doing all this extremely hard work, you could hear them singing and laughing, like this was the most fun they ever had! ...and unlike most foremen that I have seen, JC worked hard the whole time, up on the roof with his crew. JC also spoke of how much he loves working for the company. His wife and uncle work there as well. On the last day, they cleaned up every spec of debris around my house, so it was literally cleaner than before they arrived. The entire roofing project was done in 4 days! (Solar panels are coming next.) Summary: High quality, high standards, good knowledge of roofing systems/products/ventilation, prompt responses, attention to detail, short install time, best prices out there, helpful staff. I would absolutely recommend Certified Roofing Specialists to anyone who needs a roof, or roof repair. Kudos to the owner, for doing great training, and getting the most awesome people. Our house looks fantastic. Thank you, thank you, thank you CRS!!!!
I am very happy for having a great team to work for my properties.
Excellent customer service, professional, attention to detail, neat clean & organized.
Could not have been a better experience. These guys are courteous and clean. They cleaned up afterwards making sure no nails weere left laying around so my dog or us wouldnt step on any. Again these guys were amazing and efficient.
We got off to rocky start with a missed communication on start date, but they were very apologetic and accommodating. Great company to work with, and the crew on-site were exceptional.” - respectful, quiet (at times I forgot they were even on my roof), cleaned up every day and finished ahead of time. Juan was great and walked me through some issues I had with my roof, explained what was wrong and had a solution that didn’t leave me out of pocket. I’d recommend these guys again!
Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend them to friends and family, but there were some minor issues. Nothing that they didn't address promptly.
Quality work, great communication, reliable. Leo is a rockstar and kept us on time and in budget.
I already recommended CRS to my neighbors.
I could not be happier with the workmanship and professionalism of the Certified Roofing crew. They delivered exactly as promised. Reroofing our 1930 vintage home gave the crew a few surprises. They handled everything smoothly and efficiently. The communication was exemplary.
CRS is a fantastic company!!
Certified roofing specialist went above and beyond the call of the job. I’m very happy with the overall project and have I feel I have peace of mind with the roofing system I chose for my house.
I bought my home knowing I would need a roof sooner than later. Unfortunately, I needed a new roof sooner due to severe storms at the end of the year that resulted in leaks. I had about 5 estimates. Certified was not the cheapest but appears to have have the best system that I could trust would last for the a long time going forward. The team from the estimator, to the office team and the on site crew were professional and did an amazing job. I highly recommend.
I am more than pleased with Certified Roofing Specialists. A reputable, honest and fair priced roofing company. I highly recommend.
I am extremely happy with my new roof, The crew was fantastic and I have a older home which means a few unexpected issues which were addressed and options for me to decide upon. They are prompt, courteous and hard workers. They want to be sure I was happy. I would recommend them without any reservation
I am very pleased with CRS. The team was very professional and provided great service and workman ship from initial bid through completion and final paperwork. Thanks to the great team, including Leo, Kevin, Jose, Juan Carlos, Sergio, Ashley, Irma, and Omar.
The quality of workmanship is nonexistent and attention to detail is zero. If you want a crew to just slap roofing material onto your roof without looking with nail heads exposed and wood cut crooked then these are your guys. If you want your shingles to lay flat, nailed properly on the designated shingle NAIL LINE, and rafters/fascia boards installed straight, look elsewhere.
I am very impressed with the quality of the materials and the warranty that was available through Certified Roofing Specialist. They worked hard to address all of my issues and concerns and worked hard to make sure that I was satisfied with the work when it was completed.
Certified Roofing Specialists was easy to work with, honest about the pluses and minuses of their offerings, and very accurate with their price and time estimates. We had them install both a new roof and solar panels. The crew was very particular with keeping the jobsite clean and made sure everything was done properly. They noticed little issues with our previous plywood install nailing or trim areas that needed paint coverage. They were happy to help us resolve these issues as they arose. We recently had winds of 50-60mph and the new roof held up flawlessly. While there were other options that might have saved us a few dollars, I'm happy we went with the Owens Corning system that gave us the roof ridge venting and a 50 year warranty. I'd highly recommend CRS.
Beautiful finished roof. Staff are knowledgeable and professional. They started the work as indicated and completed the work as promised. Contractor clean up the site daily. I am very happy with my new roof. My old roof lasted about 32 years and I am hopeful and confident that this new one will last another 50.
