This was a big project and I appreciated how ALH does business. Knowing we had to have our design done prior to start to ensure the timeline was solid was a huge benefit. We have not had any large renovation done to our house since we moved in, I was naïve to some of the processes, and ALH made me feel comfortable by explaining things and using Co-construct was very helpful so we knew what to expect daily.

We are thrilled with our new home. Working with the staff, subcontractors and others has been entirely positive. I have recommended ALH to at least a half dozen people. At no point in this 8+ month project have we felt we were not receiving quality workmanship and value for our investment. Any cost overrun was entirely of our choosing. As the project progressed we added many enhancements. With Phase 1 now complete we have already contracted with ALH for Phase 2. While this phase will be considerably shorted in duration I know the quality of work and professionalism will continue to be the excellent service we just received. In 2 words: Top Knotch. I’ve heard plenty of horror stories from friends who had bad experiences with renovations. We had the exact opposite of that. From planning to design to demolition to construction to finish, absolutely every phase of the project was well communicated, handled professionally and courteously, and completed to my great satisfaction. Best of all, my lead carpenter Neil was just a heck of a good guy. I could not have asked for more.

We had a very good experience with ALH for our home remodeling. From the initial contact with Alan, through the design process and the construction process, we were very pleased with the service and responsiveness of ALH and their staff. The lead contractor, Neil, was courteous and very professional. He talked us through any problems that we had as the renovation continued and gave us solutions for those problems. He was very friendly and a very good craftsman.

Having never done a home renovation project before, we weren't quite sure what to expect. We couldn't be happier with our choice to work with ALH. At every step in the process, the entire staff has been professional and patient with us to make sure that everyone involved had a clear understanding of what was being delivered. Each day of the project, ALH has provided progress updates, pictures, and have always responded promptly to our questions. When unexpected issues have come up, their process for communicating, establishing and recommending possible resolutions, and approving change orders has been seamless and allowed us to clearly follow where/why estimated costs have changed.

This is our third project with ALH. During our most recent project a storm damaged our house as we were close to finishing the planned project. ALH was extremely accommodate to our new, unexpected need. We are so grateful we had them already on site to get us through the trauma of storm damage! Neil was absolutely phenomenal and I couldn't ask for anything more from a project manager.

Geri made initial contact with ALH in January with the first meeting with Allen in February. Our understanding at that time was that the remodeling project would begin in March or April and be completed in May and were given a cost estimate at the time. During the design process we added additional items with the designer which we understood would be at additional cost. As the costs continued to increase we made the decision to delete some items from the renovation project, although costs continued to increase far beyond the original estimate. During the initial phase of the project, plastic covers were placed at doorways and over cabinets in the kitchen. We did have a two week pause in the project in order to host out of town grandchildren who have been spending a week with us since they were infants, the oldest now 18, the youngest 11. Since the project has resumed, no protection over cabinets or doorways has been installed and the tile contractor has been cutting tile in the living room as well as the carpenters cutting wood in the same location. Our kitchen cabinets now have tile and sawdust in them and the contents will need to be rewashed. Drywall contractors did drywall work in a bathroom which was not included in the project and did skim coating on three short walls and around the fireplace which were not part of the project. Additional drywall work which we were told would be done was not done as described.

The entire staff was courteous, very informative, polite and cleaned up after themselves.

I am always confident that they are going to do an excellent job.

This was our third project with ALH. Each was demanding and their staff addressed every issue with great understanding and good ideas. Their sub contractors are excellent and consistently on time and very good communicators. I feel very secure with ALH staff in our house when we're away. This is the third time ALH has exceeded our expectations. A fourth project is on the horizon.

ALH has done a great job on my project. The quality of workmanship is excellent and the workers are polite and friendly. The same is true of ALH management. ALH provided me with a detailed timetable that shows day to day who would be doing what on my project. Their communication and planning skills are top notch. I would enthusiastically recommend ALH to anyone that is planning a construction project.

ALH Home Renovations was fantastic! Everyone on the team was very professional, and our kitchen looks fantastic. They worked with us and scheduled pieces we wanted to do ourselves into the renovation plan. We met our timelines, which allowed them to meet theirs as well! They worked closely to get our new IKEA cabinetry and counters installed, which turned out to be a great alternative to custom cabinetry. Very happy with ALH and we would highly recommend them to others!

I wasn't expecting such a high level of organization and professionalism. They came in with spreadsheets and lists of how the project would proceed day by day with every cost line-itemed. Very impressive. Attention to detail was incredible. They took care of situations that arose that neither of us saw coming. Not only did they come up with a solution, they gave me two to three options on how the problems could be solved. Excellent. I was given daily updates either verbally or by email. I was always contacted immediately if something had to be changed or the schedule adjusted. We were amazed at the measures they took to control dust and mess. They told us they couldn't control everything, and that dust would filter out of the construction area. But still, it was no where close to what we thought it would be. They aren't cheap but they aren't way expensive either. But their work is so outstanding I felt like I totally got a good deal. Highly recommended without reservation.

Additional Comments - Initially, we looked at three different companies. One, which was surprising to us, didn't handle projects in the Northland. Another company in Johnson country we pursued, seemed very reluctant to come to Liberty and wanted to provide an initial estimate without seeing the kitchen in which we were having remodeled. They also didn't bother to follow up.Allen and his team, while located in Johnson county, had no issues, not even a minor hesitation with driving to Liberty to talk to us about the remodel. The fact that the owner of the company came personally spoke volumes. Allen and his crew seemed willing to come to the job site as often as needed. What my comment boils down to is excellent customer service. ALH delivered.
