Purchased a spec house. Follow up was good from Tim on punch list

We've been very pleased with the progress of our project and with the people with whom we are working.

SG has made our complete home remodel as painless as possible! They are in constant communication with us- sending daily photos of work being done and weekly summary reports.

We have had a great experience with our project manager - Rusty. He's been extremely communicative, transparent, eager to move quickly, friendly and makes us feel like he's on our team. The house looks awesome.

SGB is still in the process of building our house. We have been building our house during COVID so things have been a bit different then pre-covid building. Before we signed our contract, SGB warned us that lumber prices might be going up and they would try their best to keep that cost down for us if it happened. Sure enough, the lumber prices rose and we had to pay more then they originally quoted us. They called and discussed the price increase and what our options were. We were not surprised when this call came and were thankful for their transparency. We also appreciated that they discussed the price increase with us and gave us options and just didn't charge us the increased price without any warning. There have been some hiccups in the building process with delays in getting material but we understand that this is out of SGBs hands. They have done their best to stay close to our budget and have shopped items around to different vendors to find the best price.

A con is that SGB started the permitting process for our house before we had finalized our architectural plans. (We used an architect not associated with SGB.) Since they did not use our final plans for permits, there have been things not done in the house that are on the final plans but are not on the permitted plans. This has caused us to have to go back and have things added in when they just could have been done the first time around. We also feel that they gave us low budget for allowance items, as we are tending to go over budget on the allowance items. It seems that they gave us the low budget to keep their bid in our price range. We thought we had been open enough about the price range we were looking for with plumbing, electrical, etc. As this is our first time building a house, we were very naive about the actual price of things. We just felt that they have a better idea of the price of things and could have done a better job given us more realistic budgets for our allowance items.

We absolutely love Drew K, our project Superintendent. He is absolutely amazing and keeps us very informed, gives us his honest opinion, and is always willing to look into making our crazy requests a reality. We highly recommend him. We just adore him.

Overall, we are satisfied with SGB and where we are in the building process.

Southern Green worked with us through possibly the most difficult situations a homeowner would have to deal with, our architect disappeared with our money but without submitting our building plans to the HOA to the city Southern Green stepped in, worked with our new architect, was able to help push through our permits. When Covid hit, they adapted beautifully and kept our project going.

It would depend on project. I do not have enough experience with other contractors to compare. Southern Green did an excellent job in some regards, such as ensuring the job was complete and to the extent possible done properly. When matters arose that needed to be addressed they were always responsive and cordial, constructive in trying to work together to find a solution.They were extremely organized. At the same time, I feel that certain items that became points of contention could have been avoided with closer monitoring of subs (specificall painters and cabinet maker). I would encourage a friend to consider them as an option.

Working with Southern Green was by far the best part of our home design and remodel experience. All the people are great. Communication was exceptional. Co-construct is incredibly useful. Clear expectations, reliable follow through. Any issues were addressed quickly, and well. Couldn't recommend more.

Management and field leaders of Southern Green Builders worked extensively with us to build a budget and work program for our custom home, and helped us navigate through multiple decisions and selections based on a highly constructive discussions. SGB demonstrated a great knowledge of constructibility options and honest desire to come up with solutions where all parties win and and facilitated discussions to ensure we make the right decisions based on out budget and quality expectations. During execution phase, process was completed as planned with minor deviations, with appropriate level of Communication between Construction /Architect and us as owners, very good Quality control on Materials and Construction, outstanding field supervision , very proactive "Problem Solving" attitude, constantly adhering to Cost control practices and Budget management. We developed an excellent relationship with Southern Green Builders Management and Staff based on trust and relying on SGB elevated sense of ethics and respect for their clients.

Areas Of Satisfaction - I was most satisfied with the schedule. Overall they really remained on schedule. There was a big delay but they came back. There was a big scope of change. It took some time for the left hand to talk to the right hand.

Southern Green Builders were very professional, always courteous, the superintendent was very devoted to the project and he had an amazing and calm demeanor. There does need to be better communication across the board and across the various trades and more eyes on the project as well.

They made my home building dreams come true. Having trust in your builder is critical and Southern Green will not disappoint. The online system they use to track the house build and communication with client is a BIG plus in working with this builder. You get to see the progress of your project unfold real time without daily site visits.

Southern Green has almost completed an extensive renovation of our 100+ year-old house - a "down to the studs" undertaking. And I can't say enough good things about the company and the folks I've worked with on the project. Every part of the process has been wonderful and stress-free. I will definitely recommend them to anyone who will listen!

It is rare to find a builder who is responsive to requests, and more importantly, who follows up on requests. Southern Green has been quick to respond, and every person has a cheerful and eager to please attitude. It is a breath of fresh air after experiences with other builders that I have dealt with personally or heard from friends and family.

We entrusted a complete down to studs remodel of our historic bungalow to Southern Green Builders and they exceeded our expectations. Our project was completed on time, within budget, and we were pleased with the result. General contractors are notorious for their lack of communication, but Southern Green Builders always responded to our requests and questions promptly and professionally.
