Degnan builders did a wonderful job for our house remodel. We had very good communication with them. Our project ran smoothly, on time, in our budget, and we are very happy with the end result. Our Project Manager Jon and all the Degnan Subcontractors did a super job. They were professional, courteous, skilled and communicated with us each day. We are extremely with our remodel and it is exactly what we wanted.

I was impressed from beginning to end with the professionalism of every Degnan Design employee that worked with us on our project. I would definitely recommend their services.

Degnan Design-Build-Remodel of Madison brought my dream kitchen to life. I felt that the entire team worked to understand my style and presented options that worked for the space. I appreciate their honesty with what was reasonable with budget and proposed ideas that didn’t compromise my overall taste. I trusted their expertise and they didn’t disappoint.

The Degnan group was well coordinated. They listened well and did a great job responding to set backs. I’d definitely recommend. I’m a bit picky about electrical design and that is my only critique. After our electrical consultation, when the electrician came to do the work, a lot of our discussed details were lost and either had to be redone or had to be left in a less than perfect state. Every other aspect had a high attention to detail and excellent project management. The Degnan team was caring and giving along the way.

Areas Of Sat: Design Selections Process - My favorite part of the selection process was seeing how I could replace my old bathroom with a new one that was in keeping with my traditional house. It is very contemporary; it looks wonderful.

Problem Resolution - When the flooring was removed it was discovered that the previous remodelers(25years ago) has installed the plumbing incorrectly and it had to be replaced. Kelly Lawton snd his crew did it quickly and the schedule only was extended by a day. Separate reasonable contract as it was not included in the remodeling contract.

Areas For Improvement - I had a vision of what the hexagonal tile floor would look like from photos shown me in the design process and was alarmed when the installer put the tiles in as they came from the box (telling me that was the only way they could be laid when that was not true as there were six equal sides.) your crew responded and assured me it would look fine when installed. Now I like it but perhaps someone might have consulted with me and the installer before the job was started. Only complaint I have and it in not a serious one in the overall project!

We did a full kitchen remodel and they were very helpful in making suggestions like with the kitchen cabinets, as well as some changes with the cabinetry in the entry way. Overall very helpful.

They occasionally went out of there way to help fix something if we didn't think it was right. The gave us a lot of additional information, There online communication system was very helpful as well. We were just very pleased overall.

Expertise - I was very disappointed that I had to wait to get Anderson windows only to find out they ordered the wrong exterior color. I had to wait 4 more months for them to replace those with the correct color. When they used the grout in the bathroom, they also used the wrong color. There were further delays because the grout had to be removed and replaced with the correct grout.

They are more expensive than average but you get what you pay for and more than you might expect. They are not satisfied with mediocre outcomes and they are not satisfied until the customer is. The staff is diligent, friendly, polite, and in all things considerate of the customer's needs and preferences. The whole process of our remodel was thoroughly explained and carried out with careful attention to detail and cleanup.

While everyone we worked with was professional and caring, we had some issues with things taking longer than were estimated. This was especially frustrating when messages would be sent via CoConstruct and it took 10 days to get a response, even though several people had been tagged in the message. A lot of the schedule got moved around and we mostly felt like we had to be proactive in asking about what was going on. We also feel like there was some disconnect between the design and construction team that didn't come to light until very late in the process.

Construction Quality

Construction Quality - There are a few spots here and there that felt like they couldn't have been a little cleaner. Overall, any major issues got fixed though.

Employees & Subcontractors - Everyone was very professional and polite when working directly with us. I sometimes feel like the younger workers didn't engage well, but they were also not our primary contacts.

Trust - For almost all of our issues, they were resolved and we felt listened to. We do feel like we had to come back to the contract several times to verify scope of work things. We were never worried about anyone coming into our house and felt like everyone did have our best interest at heart.

We had initially planned to keep most of the kitchen appliances in the places they were originally located, but moved several things around and are very pleased with the end results. Same with the bathroom. We were initially going to move in one direction with design, but quickly changed our minds in the design process and feel like we were heard and listened to in our decision to make some changes.
