I already have recommended them.
Energy Roofing is a company with a remote satellite office located in Pasadena, Inglewood, and Garden Groove but based in Calabasas with LIC# 1033650. I honestly thought this company would be great when I met up with Israel, their sales representative/project manager. I did go through the process and asked for multiple quotes from different vendors. So far, Energy Roofing was one of the most expensive proposals I received. I took a gamble and decided to go with them. I am willing to pay for premium service and quality work; what can go wrong. Right? Per my conversation with Israel, they've been in the business for a very long time, and their staffs are top-notch roofers who are excellent at their crafts. He also indicated he would be the project manager for my roofing needs and would make sure I would not need to be concerned about anything. He answered my questions and made notes of concerns and wants. He provided me with images from a past project and indicated their customers were delighted with their services. I just wanted to get this project over with, so I was willing to pay for the job so they can replace my damaged fascia boards and rafters and put new shingles on my roof. Oh man, I was wrong. (Ugghh) It was so bad that pigs have wings, and they were flying like crazy.Headache 1.To my surprised, I had people working on my roof. At first, I was like, "WOW," they want to finish this project quickly. Then I noticed the details that were missed, along with the quality of work. I tried to inform the roofer at the site; unfortunately, we could not communicate since he could not speak English. So I had to take pictures and video and forward them on to Israel, their project manager. Roof flashing was incorrectly installed at the chimney and all over the side of the house. (Should I be telling an expert roofer who works for a certified company and does not speak English his roof flashing is set incorrectly and not up to code?)There are still damaged rafters and fascia boards. Why are they not replaced before installing the new roof shingles? Why are there so many roofing caulk everywhere on a brand new roof? This roofer was so caulking happy he was leaving drips, splash, and dots around on the roof. He was squirting caulk into fascia boards, rafters, places where there were holes that they created. This guy was a joke. Oh, my goodness.Headache 2.However, things still seem to go wrong when I went back a few days later, even though I spoke with Suzie Manager and Israel.Once again, the roofers covered up their mistakes with caulk, and then they dared to paint over them to make it look like nothing was wrong. They spray-painted the flashing on the roofs and other items as well. They left spray paint marking all over the roof shingles, chimney, and house side shingles. Felt like graffiti artists were tagging my roof.Broken rafters were still left in place, along with the lousy quality fascia boards they installed. My neighbor complained that their window was damaged because of the roofers. Headache 3Suzie indicated that she will now send out her top team to handle the mess which the roofers created. I was feeling good speaking with Suzie, and she is so nice and seems to be on top of things. I was very patient and was crossing my fingers, hoping this could be it. Unfortunately, I was wrong. (Please note even though Suzie and Israel are trying their best to salvage the problem and it is not their fault). My doubt with these roofers who work for them is just really getting bad now.Roofers used paint thinner to remove spray paint on roof shingles which left marks on the roof.Chimney still have black spray paint left from the previous complaintDamaged rafters still in placeYou can see waves on my roof because roof shingles are not placed or set correctly.More caulking was used to hide the damaged fascia board, which was painted over and tried to be concealed as being corrected. I noticed I have damages to my skylight due to the poor installation roofers have done.At this point, I am pretty much tired and exhausted dealing with Energy Roofing. Even though they indicated, they would come back out and correct the mess until I am happy. However, every time their roofers would try to fix something, they would create another mess, and again things would go wrong. My confidence in this company is GONE. So, I believe that rather than peeling the bandage slowly, I asked for a modest discount and nothing significant and crazy. Energy Roofing charged me $31,530 for this project for the amount of work, quality, and headache I went through. I was only able to get a 2K discount which was only 6%. I initially asked for 5K, but they were not going to budge. Since I was tired and wanted them out of my face, I took it, and I know that was my fault. I should have stood firm. Now here is the kicker, they are supposed to leave the site "neat and broom clean condition." If nobody is there to manage these roofers, do you honestly think it will be left clean? My kids were helping me pick up a large number of nails left by the roofers. We are talking about a bag full of new and used nails on our lawn, driveway, front street, and everywhere around the perimeter. It was so bad that I found out that my two tires were punctured from nails and had a slow leak and had to get them replaced, which cost me out of pocket $500. I did reach out to the project manager, and he was hesitant to take responsibility and said it was up to management. I didn't hear back from them, so my wife decided to write this lengthy review, and then we were able to get a response back to address the tire problems. (Note: Tire problems was resolved)Straight to the point, if you want a quick roofing company and you don't really care about price, and quality, take a gamble with Energy Roofing. However, I can not and will not recommend this company to anyone, even to my worst of friends and enemies. They are overpriced; they lack quality work, over-promise, and always under-deliver.
