When it comes to major home renovations, what improvements/fixes produce the best ROI? I just purchased a seriously outdated fixer-upper, and I’m hoping to renovate the most important parts of the home and put it back on the market within a year. I don't have time to renovate the entire home, and I'd like to know what kinds of renovations produce the best ROI so I know where to start.

Before hiring an architect or designer for my addition, what sort of questions should I ask them? Design is extremely important to me, and I feel like I can see that in their portfolio of work. What else should I be paying attention to?

Are solar shingles a good option for my home? We live in Atlanta on a sunny lot with unshaded southern exposure. We're considering incorporating solar power in a new carriage house. Are solar shingles (like those Elon Musk / Solar City / Tesla recently announced) a good option for us?

Can I install a laminate wood flooring on top of existing laminate wood flooring? The existing laminate is glued on a concrete pad very well and there is enough room by the baseboards and doors for the new floor to exist without having spacing issues. The new floor would be a 12mm floating floor with a pad underneath.

A landcaping contractor might help. Depending on your location, you may be able to find someone here: http://www.guildquality.com/find/Landscaping-and-hardscaping/North-America

Best way to caulk the seam between our backsplash and kitchen counter? We have a marble counter and backsplash, and in the area behind the sink the caulk is deteriorating. What is the best way to fix this?

Does anyone have experience with Thermory for decking or other applications? A friend is contemplating a deck project and two contractors have suggested it as an alternative to Ipe. He prefers to use tried-and-true products, and would love to learn more before seriously considering it. More from their site: http://www.thermoryusa.com/

If the company is a Guildmember, you should be able to submit a review in the bottom right-hand corner of their profile page. For companies that are not Guildmembers, we don't presently accept reviews.

Building product directories: I'm searching for a comprehensive directory of all building products and building product manufacturers. I'm searching for a comprehensive building product directory. I've found a couple, but they don't seem comprehensive. Two examples: http://www.arcat.com/divs/building_products.shtml http://sweets.construction.com Is there a single directory that includes every building product manufacturer and every building product? Or if not, every single one, most of them?

I have a screened in porch that I wish I used more. I was thinking about glassing it in and was wondering what my best option would be? I would like the option to open the glass on nice days. The porch is about 100 square feet with an A-Frame shaped ceiling that is probably 20 feet high. What would the cost of something like this be? Are there options I'm not considering?
