Feinmann is an award-winning design/build firm, specializing in kitchen and bath remodels, room additions, and whole house renovations. From listening to our clients over the past 20 years, we have learned what matters most when it comes to making major home improvements - in short, they look for ingenious design, a well-articulated process, superb craftsmanship, responsive service, and the best value for the cost. That is why we have built a complete range of in-house services, from expert planning all the way through fabrics and furnishings, around exactly these requirements. And, even when a particular project is complete, we are committed to enhancing our relationship through on-going education, acting as a sounding board for design and remodeling issues, and helping address the hands-on maintenance needs of our clients.
Feinmann was a pleasure to work with, bringing a responsive and experienced team that was a true partner in our whole-house renovation & addition project. We're deeply appreciative of everyone that contributed to our challenging home transformation (during the snowiest winter on record), and especially want to recognize Steve Prittie and Dave Ramirez for going above and beyond in their dedication and attention to detail.
We were particularly interested in a design/build approach and found that Feinmann's level of quality and thoughtful design, as well as strong local presence, were a perfect match. Their Renovation Workshop was also very valuable in outlining a transparent and helpful roadmap toward planning a rewarding remodeling experience.
We love our new space! We decided to move out while the work was being done (kitchen, mud area, powder room, master bath.) We have dogs and I have dust allergies so it was easier for us. Feinmann stayed on budget and let us know our options. We decided to spend a little more in certain areas, but there were no budget surprises. Toward the end it does feel as though the finish work and punch list items take a bit longer, but in reality Feinmann was very responsive and any small thing was addressed in a timely manner. They never make you feel like you are being a pain! E.g., any big project has tweaks at the end -- a cabinet door adjustment or light fixture. The work crew picked up after themselves and the house was given a top to bottom cleaning. I feel like the money we spent was well worth it and the project managed appropriately. We had weekly meetings to go over completed items with the project manager, which we really appreciated.
The building/construction work has gone very smoothly. Kyle and Steve have been great, easy to work with and very conscientious.
Feinmann did another project for us some years ago for which I was completely satisfied. This time Feinmann Inc. did make some mistakes, but they did their best to correct them as much and as soon as they could. I am really impressed with and grateful for their great customer service.
They have done the most beautiful work. All their staff has been wonderful, amazing creative, and truly collaborative. I am thrilled, they sweat the details and they have been partners all the way. I would recommend them to anyone. I loved working with every single one of them they have been a pleasure to work with.
Steve Prittie managed the entire job in a very professional manner. Steve was always pleasant and would address our questions and concerns promptly. The project ran smoothly because of Steve's efforts. Kevin's interior carpentry is exceptional. We continue to get compliments on all his interior woodwork and cabinetry. Kevin pays a lot of attention to detail, is a very friendly person, and always addressed our concerns. We were very happy with all Feinmann's sub-contractors.
All aspects of this project exceeded our expectations. The design and planning process went smoothly. All Feinmann contractors were friendly, efficient, and did their work in a professional manner. Steve Prittie managed all aspects of the job exceptionally well. We had complete trust that Steve had our interest in mind from the project's start to finish.
We contracted with Feinmann to finish our basement. This turned out to be a more involved project than expected because the low ceiling height required reworking many of the mechanicals. Kyle and Paul were very skilled and effective at moving us through those issues and getting to an excellent design and result. I felt that the process was highly transparent. It is harder to comment on cost; in this process, one is basically committed to the vendor before the full cost is known, so one can't easily shop for competitive bids but rather is trusting Feinmann to extract good value from the subcontractors. I did think that the level of service was very high, including on unexpected twists. So I certainly would recommend Feinmann.
We were very pleased with the quality of Feinmann's work and their ability to develop creative solutions to meet our needs. We are enjoying meals in our new eating area and the light that streams in through the beautiful large windows surrounding our dining table. We also gained space in the kitchen from a redesigned pantry and kitchen island. And the entire family, including our dog, loves the new deck.
I am very happy with my kitchen and bath renovation by Feinmann. The team was incredibly professional and responsive to my needs. No detail was overlooked. Everyone was reliable and really cared to make sure that the project turned out the way I wanted. The daily on-site carpenter was incredibly personable, neat, clean and organized. All the subs were skilled, reliable and long term colleagues of Feinmann. The work was overseen weekly by a friendly and dedicated project manager. I would definitely use Feinmann Inc again and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a trustworthy group who will have your best interests at heart.
A lot of little problems came up during the project and they were all corrected to our satisfaction. The temporary kitchen was indespensable. Not sure how we would have managed without it. Also, the drawer directly under the cooktop initially didn't open because it was hitting on the underpart of the cooktop. Initially, Kevin and Kyle weren't sure if they were going to be able to make the drawer operational but they did by modifying the sides and back of the drawer. It seems like a small thing, but we love that we can use that drawer for storing cooking utensils. It's extremely convenient and one of the many things we love about the kitchen. Kevin did such a great job modifying the drawer, it looks like it came from the factory that way.
Peter for taking the time to understand the design of the house and how we used the space so that Feinmann could design a kitchen that fit in with the design of the rest of our house and met our daily needs. Barney for his eye for design. Kyle for being so easy to work with and for quickly fixing the things that we weren't happy with. Kevin for his workmanship and attention to detail.
Online article that indicated that they were one of the top builders in Boston area. We saw photos of some previous jobs and we liked how they looked. When Peter came to the house took real interest in building a kitchen that would fit the design of the house and meet our needs, that was when we knew that Feinmann was the best choice for us. Anyone can rip out an old kitchen and put in some new counters and cabinets, but we wanted someone who cared about design, style and function.
David Wittig did a fantastic job of coordination. Paul Flynn did a superb carpentry job and took care of all aspects on the site and did not hesitate to call to ask for our opinion.
Feinmann's original proposal and estimate were taking in account our budget and gave a reasonable projection. The process was also well laid out and comprehensive. Also, previous results on work done elsewhere were in line with what we were looking for. The in-house architect also meant we could save on the design time and budget.
This was our first remodeling project in the Boston area. The first visit from Feinmann immediately showed that they understood the scope of the project and the constraints of our budget. Communications with the staff were frequent and efficient. Peter, David, Barney and Paul were all very professional and devised cost effective solutions. The project ran smoothly and according to a precise schedule. And we like the remodeling result even more than what we dreamed of!
Feinmann, Inc. handled a major renovation for us -- gutting and reconfiguring most of our first floor. The reconfiguration included re-imagining our dining room, kitchen, downstairs bath, laundry room, and living room, plus adding a new sunroom and deck. Our intensive experience with them, through what we feared would have to be a scary, painful, and traumatic experience, was outstanding! Feinmann was the only design firm we interviewed that understood the scope and interactions of the problems we had with the home we had lived in for 20 years. They developed a complete solution. The iterative, collaborative design process (with Barney) resulted in a conceptual design that addressed all of our many requirements, incorporating both “think-outside-the box†ideas that we would never have dreamed of, as well as our own ideas and modifications that we drew ourselves. (We highly recommend that you start the process by creating your own “needs assessment†document that describes how you currently (mis)use your rooms and what you would love to have instead.) Feinmann gently guided us through the stressful process of weighing the trade-offs about which modifications to do, and what not to do.The project manager, Tammy, masterfully managed the thousands of details of the project, including coordinating and scheduling the many subcontractors so the project kept moving without any significant delays. Many days she would have five or six different subcontractor crews working simultaneously in a beautifully orchestrated symphony. She shielded us from the day-to-day stresses, but also did a great job communicating with us about the progress of the project, conferring with us well in advance of when decisions were required. She took full responsibility, and aggressive correction action, for the few communications gaps that occurred. She also went above and beyond her nominal role by spending hours helping us narrow down various alternatives for which we would have otherwise hired a decorator (not just the selection of countertop, backsplash, plumbing fixtures, etc., but even light fixtures, paint colors, and selection of rugs). AnD, our lead carpenter, demonstrated a dedication to excellence that we found so comforting, both in his own work and, reassuringly, in overseeing the work of the many other carpenters and subcontractors. Nothing slipshod will ever get by AnD! And he made significant, conscious efforts to insulate us from the noise, dust, and invasions of the construction (not that reconfiguring an entire first floor could ever be easy), even as one of us continued to work out of the house during the six months of active construction.Yes, our high-quality renovation project was expensive, but what a relief it was to feel so confident that all the complexities of the project were being handled so professionally and the money was being well spent. As the project got underway, we soon felt assured that no subcontractor was making horrible mistakes that we would regret far longer than we would remember the bill. Many of the warnings we received from other homeowners (e.g., of ever expanding bills, and the need to “watch them like a hawk†to keep them from cutting corners) did not apply to us. Small changes and corrections were handled seamlessly. We did have a few minor overages, and we expanded the project in a few areas, but those were other jobs that we had known that would eventually need to be done; by then, we knew that we already had a crew whom we could trust to do them well. If you have the skills of a general contractor and understand how to direct, coordinate, and inspect every inch of every subcontractor's job, and don't mind the nit-picking nightmare, you may be able to get off cheaper, but then you should be working for Feinmann. If you are like the rest of us, and you value your peace of mind and the quality of the job, and you want to sleep well each night knowing that your interests are being well looked after, choose Feinmann. We love how our home has turned out, both functionally and aesthetically, and we couldn’t be happier that we selected Feinmann for this significant, complex project. We would recommend this company for any intricate remodeling job.
Feinmann is an extremely professional organization and provided expert guidance throughout the whole renovation process. I was very pleased to be able to have one point of contact from design through construction. The whole team was friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Most importantly, we couldn't be more pleased with how our kitchen renovation turned out.
Two areas I would recognize. One, Feinmann has a strong team with individuals who deliver different areas of expertise. One delivered the big picture idea, another had the details, a third had the practical implications. Excellent. Two, Dave Witting managed the process exceptionally well. Timely updates, terrific responsiveness. He anticipated frustration and managed expecations extremely well.
