Tuckahoe Creek Construction was founded in 1990 and specializes in Luxury Residential Construction and Remodeling. The combined experience of our 3 principal field personnel totals 94 years. We have built and remodeled homes in such prestigious locations as Windsor Farms, Lockgreen, Westmoreland Place, Hampton Gardens, Countryside, Mooreland Farms, River Place, Middle Quarter, Riverlake Colony, Lower Tuckahoe, Rivergate, The Meadows, Sabot Hill Farm, Founders Bridge and other locations in the surrounding Richmond area. We are a small, hands-on building company and pride ourselves on the quality of our craftsmanship, our attention to detail, and our client focused processes and service. Our operating model is one of transparency and fairness, and in 2003 we were awarded The Torch Award For Marketplace Integrity in Central Virginia by The Better Business Bureau, and were selected as runner-up for the International Torch Award that same year. In early 2010, Tuckahoe Creek was one of just a few local firms honored with the Guildmaster Designation and the only one in the Richmond market to be honored with Guildmaster with Highest Disctinction. We were delighted to receive that same recognition in 2011. We were also pleased to win a Builders Choice award in 2011 for a pool and patio project we constructed in the area. We are an EarthCraft Certified Builder.
Our Personnel:
Gray Stettinius is one of the co-founders of Tuckahoe Creek Construction and is the owner and President. He has over 20 years experience in residential construction, as well as 7 years in commercial banking. He is a graduate of The University of Virginia having earned his degree in Finance, with heavy course work in Accounting. He has earned the designation of Certified Graduate Builder, Certified Green Professional, and is one of only 6 Master Builders in the Richmond market. He is Past President of the Home Building Association of Richmond, and currently serves as a Director of The Home Building Association of Richmond, as a Trustee of The HBAR Designated Fund, and as a Director of The National Association of Home Builders. He is a long-standing member of the Building Committee of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, and is a member of the City of Richmond's Contractor Advisory Committee where he previously sat on a task force charged with evaluating processes and procedures of the Department of Permits and Inspections for the City of Richmond. He is married with three children.
Laurie Stettinius has been married to Gray for 27 years and is an officer of Tuckahoe Creek Construction. She has been actively employed with the company since 2004, but has been closely involved with its growth and development since 1990. She has a degree in Management Information Systems from The University of Virginia. She is responsible for the majority of the back office functions of the company, primarily accounts payable and payroll. She is also involved with the marketing of Tuckahoe Creek.
Tom Dunn has been with the company since 2006 and has over 30 years of active experience in residential construction in addition to the experience gained in his youth working with his father. Prior to joining our firm, he worked with another residential contractor for 10 years and only became available to us when that builder retired. Prior to entering construction, he spent 4 years in The United States Marine Corps. He is the Project Manager for our company, and is personally skilled and experienced in all trades related to residential construction. He is responsible for overseeing and scheduling all field related activities on our projects. He actively seeks out and participates in new product and process seminars. He has been married for 29 years and has three sons.
Curtis Wirt is the latest addition to our firm having formally joined us in 2007. However, he had previously worked for Tuckahoe Creek as a subcontractor and spent 6 years working for the co-founder of Tuckahoe Creek at another firm. All told, Curtis has over 40 years of residential construction experience. He has many years supervisory experience, but specializes in all things carpentry related. He serves as a utility man for us, helping take care of all the important details that differentiate our work from that of others. He also supports Tom in the supervision of our trades and vendors. Like Tom, Curtis is a 4 year veteran of The United States Marine Corps. He has been married to his wife for 39 years and has 2 children and 4 step children all grown and gone.
Our Sub-Contractor and Vendor Partners:
Tuckahoe Creek Construction could not reliably deliver our product and service to our clients as advertised without the support and collaboration of all the many trade partners with whom we have cultivated relationships over the last 21 years. Some of our partners have been with us the entire time, and others are relatively new members to our team. Regardless, old or new, they all understand what we expect from a product and process standpoint, and know that we are constantly striving to raise the bar and expect the same from them. We value their expertise, and are pleased to be able to offer their talents to our clients.
