I'm on the Neil Kelly Board of Directors. I retired from Neil Kelly 5 years ago after 45 years. I know the integrity and quality of the people and the work. I know the follow-through and know the high value of Neil Kelly's warranty. I would not use anyone else. I trust Neil Kelly to tell me the truth and give me options if available. Neil Kelly has told me not to do a solar project because it won't be a good investment for me. They honor my budget for projects and work within what I have to spend.
We have 2 families interested in Neil-Kelly Solar. If they have more questions, we will refer them to you.
Great Team, very knowledgeable and professional
Neil Kelly-Eugene has accomplished 3 big projects for me on 2 houses and were incredibly good at design, communication, and excellent results on all 3 projects. All personnel were delightful to deal with personally.
Although not using the template and stars, I would like to offer a hopefully constructive suggestion.
I would consider adding two specialized consultants, one an expert in lighting and the second an expert in building and the environmental sciences. Prospective clients might welcome well-informed direction about which building materials and practices are most healthy. Other clients may be uncertain of the effect of various colors to be installed in their unique context and appreciate the guidance of a lighting designer.
I think that a resource like this might complement the work of the talented staff while adding depth to NK's already considerable repertoire of skills.
efficient, made good use of time. and did great job
The solution was great and the service throughout was realistic and helpful.
We have had Larry Romick do our remodeling several times over the years. He is always as close to on-time and on-budget as is possible. When it is not possible, he gives clear reasons for increased cost or delay and estimated corrected time and/or cost. He has pointed out several times how we can save money. We have and will continue to recommend him and Neil Kelly. This sounds like a paid ad but it isn't. We just like working with this company.
I believe I filled out a survey for you about a week or more ago; please recheck; did you not receivd it?
There were several issues:
1) The term ‘handyman’ services a bit of a bait and switch, as once we got past the ‘planning’ stage, it seemed to become an official Neil Kelly project, where we had Aaron Land, Ashley Jackson, and a rotating crew of workers all involved. There was no handyman involved as advertised or marketed. We didn’t need a weekly ‘progress report’.
2) There were a lot of inefficiencies, for example, the person who does measurements should be the person doing the work. There were numerous times where Aaron came over to take measurements and pictures, but then the carpenter or whoever would not really know what he was thinking and would have to redo measurements. This led to some challenges with the door installations in particular. It also meant using up more of my time waiting at the house, etc.
3) I think we went through 3 ‘carpenters’ during our project, which meant no consistency, as well as more of a chance for something to go wrong or a miscommunication. I’m not sure if that’s normal for a Neil Kelly job, but it seemed like a lot of turnover to me.
4) Aaron was particularly bad at communicating. There were several instances where his email "didn’t work" or where he sent apologies for being delayed or not showing up. For example, he didn’t show to the final walk through, even though Ashley did (though she didn’t do the walk through as she was never really involved other than putting out the key box and retrieving it). I’ve outlined the times below where Aaron’s communication was not optimal.
Jan 30, emails didn’t ‘go’ out
Feb 7, again apology for delay in email
Feb 17, said he sent contract but never got it;
Feb 19, still no contract, apologized for delay
Apr 17, another email apparently lost to ‘ghost world’ he says
Apr 28, didn’t show to final walk through, no text or email, Ashley told me
In the end, we won’t recommend Neil Kelly to any of our friends and won’t be using your services again. The work done is fine, but it was poorly managed and extreme overkill for the project we needed. Given how much we paid, we expected better management and a smoother process. There seems to be a premium put on email/phone surveys at the end of the project, but we needed less of that and more actual work/consistency.
Yes, likely to recommend, with the understanding that NK will cost a bit more, may run slightly behind/make a few random mistakes but will do everything to a complete and do a wonderful job overall.
Communication with Neil Kelly was an issue throughout our project. Fortunately, that was the only real snag we hit. Their subcontractors were fantastic and did a great job. However, compared to other options in town, their pricing wasn't competitive and we would have saved money working an independent contractor instead.
First, communication with me was superb, and the designers, managers an workers were always checking to see if I was satisfied with the work.
Everyone involved in the project was helpful and kind, and very good at providing information and answering questions.
No high-pressure sales tactics, and consultant Jo Blinman built a customized system that fit my needs.
We are very happy that we chose Neil Kelly for our bathrooms remodel. They were very professional - organized, clear communicators, helpful with ideas, and treated us and our home with the utmost respect. I would highly recommend their services!
Very professional "handyman" named Bob who listened to the needs and got right to work fixing a variety of projects
The quality and workmanship was impeccable! And the overall experience was actually fun!
Has nothing to do with you. We're very satisfied with the job and the work, and we'd tell anyone who asks. Recommendations are not my thing.
The design process with Jonne Vandehey was done very professionally and helped us determine what we wanted in the selection of materials. The scope of work and contract were very clearly defined and the work was executed consistent with the defined scope.
Neil Kelly walked us through the entire process at our first meeting. They were very detailed on what the process would entail, including the initial steps to get the project started.
We’ve used Neil Kelly for many projects over many years and have always been extremely pleased with their services and workmanship.
Having used Neil Kelley for many projects over the years, they are the first and only people we call because their work is impeccable and completed as described in their contract.
Everyone that I worked with were professional, friendly, and great!
Yes. Without hesitation or reservation.
