Craig wasn't the cheapest contractor on the bids, but if there is one thing I learned with past projects, you really do get what you pay for!
Honestly, I think Craig surpassed my expectations. Houseworks Unlimited did an outstanding job!
Craig was a consummate professional throughout our project. He really gave us the feeling our house was in good hands and the project would be done the right way, the first time. Craig and his crew exceeded our expectations and did an outstanding job.
It was a pleasure working with you both. Thanks for being patient and working through the survey process. I/we look forward to working with you again in the near future.
There were some undiscovered problems in my house that Houseworks Unlimited took care of, but that was not their fault at all.
Houseworks Unlimited didn't fall short of our expectations anywhere.
I was most satisfied with the fact that Houseworks Unlimited was in charge of the entire operation, from the design to the details of the project.
My wife heard about Houseworks Unlimited from a friend of hers.
Houseworks Unlimited handled the whole process from the design concept to the final completion, which was very good. It was the best experience I have ever had with home building or home remodeling.
We're glad you had a good experience. All the planning and preparation took some time, but it's worth it in the end. Older homes always create a challenge and this one was no exception. Even with some hidden surprises, we still got it done. We hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it!
The quality of the workmanship.
Craig Knott (Houseworks Unlimited) has done work for us for years, including, among other things, a bathroom remodel, conversion of a screened-in porch to a sunroom, and now our latest project - a kitchen remodel. We needed to stay within a certain budget, and Craig worked with us on that by providing estimates of various options such as wood vs. vinyl bow window and tile vs. hardwood floors. He kept us apprised of problems/issues that were uncovered along the way (e.g., asbestos flooring underneath the existing floor) and the additonal costs associated with mitigating the problem. Although the original schedule did not account for the unexpected, Craig worked late and on the weekends to adhere to the schedule as much as possible. The areas where he was working were kept neat and clean; when the work was done, the only thing we were left with was a beautiful new kitchen. While Houseworks Unlimited is pricey in comparison to other contractors, you definitely get what you pay for. The quality of the workmanship is excellent; we wouldn't use anyone else!
I'm glad everything worked out.....thanks for being patient. We really appreciate the positive review and look forward to our next project.
Houseworks Unlimited did not fall short of my expectations in any area.
We were completely satisfied with the final product. also, Craig (owner) is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. would definitely contract with them again!
We would highly recommend Craig for the smallest home renovation project to building a complete home. Housework's quality of work sets the standard for the contracting industry. The company provides an excellent work product for a competative price.
Craig was the consumate professional and completed our projects on time with excellent results.
Quality of work and attention to detail. Every project is thoughfully planned and executed.
Referral from a friend.
Houseworks has completed several projects on our 105 year old house. Craig's expertise and knowledge of every facet of home building was invaluable. We are particularly impressed with Craig's ability to scope out a project and work with the homeowner to ensure that the completed project meets your expectations. Craig's carpentry skills are unparalelled and his ability to provide innovative solutions to the difficulties associated with renovating on older home were critical to the success of the projects undertaken on our house.
Thanks for the pat on the back! After doing this for over 30 years, I have learned a thing or two about working on older homes. It's a shame more of these entry level carpenters aren't trained in the some of the basics that were used 100 years ago. We find, way to often, that fine craftsmanship isn't repaired and it just removed. In it's place is another production piece. Thanks for allowing us to do it right and save a piece of history!
The ideas and creativity.
Through a reference.
During the construction, Craig and the plumbers decided that the pipe in the basement would be replaced (over and above what was contracted for). Thi was done without additional costs to us. Wow.
I don't recall where I saw it, but there is a product (similar to door & window flash, but wider) that goes on the plywood, along with a primer. You would need to start the application down at the footing and overlap it to just above grade.
I guess it would really depend on what type of home, the age of it and where it's located. Most of your older homes (prior to 1940) have a lot custom details you want to keep intact. If it's really old, and hasn't been maintained, then restoring may not be an economical solution. A lot of the homes in our area (DC Metro) are being torn down because the lots are so valuable.
