I chose Neil Kelly for their design/build capabilities, and I was aware of their reputation, commitment to the community, and its history in the northwest. After 32 years, it was time to update my “dated” kitchen and two bathrooms.

Without expecting a dollar by dollar breakdown, I would have liked a better understanding of how the choices we made were reflected in the overall cost. For example, we were told simply that Corian was "much more" expensive than a quartz countertop. When we checked an independent online source, they appeared to be comparably priced. Similar lack of more precise information on cost for materials for which we couldn't readily get independent cost estimates because Neil Kelly seemed to prefer a particular supplier. On the otherhand, it was helpful to have Neil Kelly narrow the choice of suppliers.

I'm on the Neil Kelly Board of Directors. I retired from Neil Kelly 5 years ago after 45 years. I know the integrity and quality of the people and the work. I know the follow-through and know the high value of Neil Kelly's warranty. I would not use anyone else. I trust Neil Kelly to tell me the truth and give me options if available. Neil Kelly has told me not to do a solar project because it won't be a good investment for me. They honor my budget for projects and work within what I have to spend.

Although not using the template and stars, I would like to offer a hopefully constructive suggestion.

I would consider adding two specialized consultants, one an expert in lighting and the second an expert in building and the environmental sciences. Prospective clients might welcome well-informed direction about which building materials and practices are most healthy. Other clients may be uncertain of the effect of various colors to be installed in their unique context and appreciate the guidance of a lighting designer.

I think that a resource like this might complement the work of the talented staff while adding depth to NK's already considerable repertoire of skills.

We have had Larry Romick do our remodeling several times over the years. He is always as close to on-time and on-budget as is possible. When it is not possible, he gives clear reasons for increased cost or delay and estimated corrected time and/or cost. He has pointed out several times how we can save money. We have and will continue to recommend him and Neil Kelly. This sounds like a paid ad but it isn't. We just like working with this company.

Yes, likely to recommend, with the understanding that NK will cost a bit more, may run slightly behind/make a few random mistakes but will do everything to a complete and do a wonderful job overall.

Communication with Neil Kelly was an issue throughout our project. Fortunately, that was the only real snag we hit. Their subcontractors were fantastic and did a great job. However, compared to other options in town, their pricing wasn't competitive and we would have saved money working an independent contractor instead.

First, communication with me was superb, and the designers, managers an workers were always checking to see if I was satisfied with the work.

Robby Barham was our designer and we were really pleased with his design ideas and solutions for our galley kitchen. Robby was attentive throughout the design process to address our requests and needs. He provided several thoughtful and artistic options with budgets and with his help, we chose the best design solution that we will appreciate for years to come.

Project Manager, Spenser Boeck and his assistant, Zoe Pressly, inspired confidence throughout the entire project. Their planning and communication skills were excellent. They provided timely response and solutions to unforeseen issues that showed up during the project, which always resulted in a positive outcome.

Master carpenter, Ram and his assistant, Knoll, showed attention to details in their craftmanship and work. Ram had the ability to anticipate challenges with our older home, and always developed solutions for implementation of the design plan. Both Ram and Knoll were friendly and easy to work with.

Wonderful to work with the Neil Kelly team. They installed handicap access in the guest bedroom and bath which does not look obviously handicap… Also completely removed dry rot and reinstalled two difficult wood windows and redid a deck with new doors off the master bath to the deck. We are very happy with their professionalism and their addressing every concern we had to our satisfaction.

Areas Of Satisfaction - -All workers respected our home & privacy, carefully letting us know when to expect them, and doing their best to keep our home clean. -Designer & project manager spent a lot of time meeting with us to understand our vision, and show us the many options available. -They did not try to talk us into a bigger project. -Once completed, the project is beautiful, and all materials are top-quality.

I appreciate the amount of detail and explanation that preceded the contract for signing. I originally called for help with deteriorating holes in the wall above the gutter box above my deck. Cal went all around the exterior of the house noting possible problem areas. Then he took me around and we discussed each item. There were instances of rotted wood around several windows; deck that needed power washing, then repairs and staining; some concrete slabs I wanted broken up and removed from the patio beneath the deck; generally, maintenance that we homeowners had neglected for several years. Between Cal and Christian, different teams with different expertise were assigned for the tasks. All were on time, efficient, and professional. Also nice people. When Parr Lumber dropped off materials at the end of the work day one time, and simply left them lying in the driving lane of this narrow street (no sidewalks or gutters), I discovered this fact after the end of the working day. I called Cal, and he went above and beyond and came over ASAP to personally move the items from the street to the available area on the driveway we'd agreed on. The Parr delivery folks did not even come to the door to ask me about where to drop the materials, and I was home if they'd asked. I am very pleased with the repairs to house wall, window frames, and deck. In this old house, some of the repairs took good advance planning and creativity by the teams doing the physical work. Some items were work added on as things went along and approved by me. I looked at what was suggested and accepted all those suggestions. I am happy to continue to ask NK for work on projects because you can contact the right experts and manage the process to get things done. I do not want nor need to be the "general contractor" on any of this type of work. NK and I have more planned, a big shed demo and rebuild of a smaller footprint shed; also replacing a number of 2x2 wood strips that go between the patio concrete slabs. This is all work that I wouldn't have had any idea who to call, otherwise.

My bathroom is just right. It looks perfect to me with colors I like. I have recommended Neil Kelly company to friends.
