Additional Comments - We enjoyed the experience with our master closet/bath renovation so much we decided to go ahead and renovate our 2nd bath. That should say it all.

Creative and thoughtful design to maximize storage. Courteous and efficient installation. Beautiful at the end - I now just want to live in my closet!

Respectful

Respectful - Mike was so faithful to text every morning and let us know when to expect him or to ask permission before any work was done outside of normal business hours...so considerate! When plans changed for the day or the schedule was different than what we were told, he was communicative to let us know so we knew what to expect. Everyone that came into our home treated our family and our home with respect. We also felt that everyone respected ours and neighboring properties as materials were delivered and moved in/out.

Communication - With a project of this scale, we were very impressed with the communication we received. During times where perhaps a message got lost in translation or the schedule dictated an action that was different than what we were originally told, we always felt like the team took ownership and made it right.

Quality Of Materials - Admittedly, this was an area that before we selected a contractor/design team, we were concerned/nervous about...FLD does not cut corners and takes great care and pride in providing a QUALITY finish that both they and we are so proud of.

Quality Of Workmanship

Quality Of Workmanship - 10/10. Even the sub contractors that came in demonstrated the same high level of integrity and workmanship as the FLD team. I wish I could name everyone - but here working day-to-day - Justin, Mike, Chris, Jake, Drew...literally everyone that touched our project did so in a very thoughtful manner showing genuine care for their work and for our home.

Problem Resolution

Problem Resolution - Any issues/problems that arose were addressed and resolved quickly and fairly. And this happened at every level - day-to-day/on-the-job as well as anything bigger that arose along the way. Everyone we worked with showed willingness to listen and help us resolve our concerns. What we also found was that small details or things we saw along the way were often resolved before we even had a chance to raise them. We truly can't say enough about attention to detail and quality of work.

Professional & Organized - From our first interaction to our last, and every meeting in between, we experienced the FLD team as extremely professional, organized and prepared.

Value

Value - FLD added so much value to our project and in our opinion, this really set them apart from all the other contractors/design firms we met with - lending their expertise and wealth of experience during each phase of the project. We were so impressed with the design plans (and willingness to tweak and work with us to meet our specific needs). At times it was helpful for us to move away from the paper and walk the space and Britney & Justin were always willing to do so - and demonstrated such patience with us during this initial phase! Britney quite literally held our hand through the material selection phase and did a wonderful job of never pushing, yet offering guidance and her thoughtful opinions along the way. She took the time to listen, get to know us and make appropriate recommendations based on our budget, style, etc., and to make us feel comfortable and at ease with the decisions we made. When we moved into construction both Justin & Mike never hesitated to point out things we should consider, be aware of or even just ideas to make our original plans even better. As someone that likes to be involved in the details, Justin & Mike made sure to include us on decisions and to ensure we were all on the same page at critical points in the project. Chris also offered insight and lent his expertise as he was here too. He provided a safe space to ask questions and better understand the process. We truly felt so taken care of. Based on our experience with other home projects we've completed - this experience does not exist across the board and FLD stands out because of the tremendous value the entire team adds.

Design

Design - It's fun to look at where we started and to see the now finished product - total transformation! The design (and willingness in that phase to work with us to get to a place that truly met all of our needs and checked all of the boxes) is perfect!

Recognized Excellence - Britney - If it weren't for Britney, we would likely still be sitting with a hoarding situation of a basement!! She never pushed, but faithfully (even asking for permission) followed up with us for the better part of a year while we got our act together. She was patient and kind - taking the time to answer all of our questions and put us at ease. She is a wonderful designer - knowledgable and highly skilled - keeping us on trend but in our transitional (hopefully somewhat timeless!) style. She took the time to get to know us and made really good suggestions based on that information. In times where we were overwhelmed, she narrowed down our choices making it easier to decide. But conversely, there were times where we needed to know ALL of the options (sorry...flooring!) and she never made us feel rushed or like we were putting her out with our questions, etc. We enjoyed working with Britney so much and are grateful for the beautiful basement she very much guided and helped us to complete. Justin - Equal parts expertise, genuine care and thoughtful attention - this is how we would describe Justin. He is so personable and that goes a long way when you open your home and invite someone in for 3 months! We asked what I am sure were a million silly questions along the way and Justin showed us true kindness in each and every answer he gave. His craftsmanship is bar none - he is the best. We felt confident in the quality of work being done but knowing Justin was managing our project put us at ease before construction even started. We have countless examples of things he saw (details big and small that simply arise as the project moved forward) that could have went unnoticed (and someone else would have let go) but that mattered to us. He took the time to help us problem solve and to guide us every step of the way. We were lucky to have just one thing come up (not related to the project, but directly affecting the project) where he lent his expertise when he didn't have to so we could resolve the issue and move on (exterior leak affecting the interior walls). Throughout the entire construction process, Justin made us feel secure and safe in choosing FLD and we are thankful to have had the opportunity to work with him. Mike - Mike became an honorary member of the family while here - the last day he was here I didn't get to say goodbye in person and that still bugs me (my fault - I was at the kids' school)! He lent incredible experience, knowledge and expertise to our basement and we felt so lucky to have had him here. He was always respectful and considerate - and truly was the one person that was here day in and day out. His communication (from morning texts to give us his eta to making sure it was ok to work a little earlier than normal or come in on the weekend to get stuff done) was excellent and most appreciated. Being the one at home full time I was most concerned about this part of the project - having someone in the house every day. Mike made it seamless and easy - and that meant so much. We sincerely appreciate the wealth of expertise and experience Mike brought to our project - especially in the details - the quality of his work and integrity in his work ethic was so appreciated. Chris - Chris was so fun to work with. We really enjoyed the time he was here. He too demonstrated expertise and knowledge that put us at ease from our first conversation with him. He offered practical solutions we hadn't considered from the first time we met him and on several occasions he helped us better understand the process, our options and better understand our expectations. He never made us feel like we asked too many questions or that any question was silly. He took the time we needed to explain and would check back in to be sure we were all on the same page. We truly looked forward to the days Chris was here - he did a wonderful job helping us think outside of the box at the very beginning and answered all of our questions along the way. Kathy - Nothing but total respect for the exceptional business you have built and top-tier team you have assembled. We appreciate you and the way you worked with us to not only win our business but to see our project through to the very end. You gave us quick attention whenever necessary and always treated us so fairly. For that we are grateful. Areas Of Satisfaction - We love our basement and we genuinely appreciate the team that brought it to fruition. Working with FLD has exceeded our expectations. We know what it feels like to work with good companies and good people and FLD blew our previous experiences out of the water.

We remodeled our kitchen and mudroom. This was the first major project completed on our home, and our first ever remodel experience. To this, the team was very patient with us as we navigated through the process. During the design phase the team married their unique concept and our own vision for the space. The execution was exceptional. The attention to detail in regards to taking the time to keep the space as clean as possible, and the extra time taken to keep us informed was not unnoticed and much appreciated. It is obvious they take pride in their work, as if they were working on their own homes.

Problem Resolution

Problem Resolution - I believe that no remodel of this scope goes without some unforeseen issues, and ours was no different. However, they were quick to acknowledge our concerns along the way and addressed them to our full satisfaction.

I found the entire experience of working with Functional Living Design fantastic. I've already recommended them to someone.
