Too many delays and lack of communication
Doug Phelps, the project manager did his best but it was unfortunate the remediation and restoration mangers did not do what they were hired to do.
The remediation manager did not follow through in a timely fashion in order for the restoration to begin. Unused remediation equipment sat in my duplex for over a week because, the next step had not be set up to move forward.
The restoration manager was incompetent. He did not have the knowledge to manage this job or the ability to understand what had to be ordered. When I would ask him a question about the project his typical answer would be something like, “yes I’ll take care of that, well maybe, I think so, probably.” In addition, corners were cut, in several parts of the job. Unfortunately I had to hire and of course pay for out of my pocket for a project manager so this job could get done and done correctly., BluSky took it upon themselves to use a trash bin service I had hired I also had to pay for cleaning service because my property was too dirty in which to live. Although it says in the contract the air ducts will be cleaned, I was told they were cleaned after the remediation to make sure there was no mold, they will need to be cleaned again because after the restoration they are filled with dust from the job.
This was not the job it looked like it would be given the insurance contract.

I feel like I almost got taken advantage of. The mold test came back with a recommendation to remediate it with special protocols. When I googled the mold test readings, other remediation websites indicated the levels were in a normal range. I then drove to the property and removed some of the floor that was supposedly at greatest risk for mold underneath and it was bone dry with no apparent issues. I spent $1,000 for a bogus mold test, and the only good news is I didn't blindly follow the recommendation and spend many more thousands remediating a non-existent issue.
Professional and Knowledgeable - Michael was able to help with another bathroom damage issue while I was out of town in Crested Butte. It was wonderful to have someone I could trust that could run point while I was away.
Areas Of Satisfaction - Prompt response to original outreach. Ownership of the issue while I was out of town and out of service for a large part of the day the work was happening. Appreciate the trusted relationship I have built with Michael in the past and am always most comfortable reaching out to him as my go-to on any major issue! I appreciate him so much.

Very responsive but poor accountability and overpriced. Telling me something is "withing market standards" is such a lame excuse for price gouging.
The entire job was handled very professionally - they communicated with us constantly, the work was all done with care, the workers were all pleasant and their work was excellent. The whole process was completed on time, and the room looks like it did before the destruction happened. I unequivocally recommend BluSky Restoration!
They responded extremely quick, with in 15 minutes of the initial call, which is essential in an emergency.
They made claims about damages that would have needed high-cost asbestos abatement without out doing an adequate investigation.
Specifically, they refused to pull the baseboards in Unit 10 to see if there was actual water damage to the drywall and insulation. I called in a second company to get an independent assessment. They pulled the baseboards and found the drywall to be bone dry. While the carpet was soaked, the baseboards had kept the water away from the drywall because they were tight against the carpet.
In addition, the independent assessment found that there was still moisture in the Unit 10 carpet and subfloor even though BluSky had declared everything dry and had removed their equipment. The independent assessment also suggested additional steps in another area that did a much better drying job. That made the repairs that BluSky had recommended unnecessary.
That is why I replaced BluSky.
BluSky's asbestos abatement estimate was twice the estimates I got from two other companies.
I had the opportunity to review their logs of time on site. I was generally present when they were on site. I felt that a few of their log entries had been inflated.
These people are very quick to respond and provide good service to their customers.
