We had two estimates for our new 12x24-foot deck. Three D Construction's estimate was the higher of the two, but I still went with them. Here's why:The other company's proposal was to use 4x4 posts and 2x6 joists - Three D used 6x6 posts and 2x8 joists - much more stout - there is no flex in this deck. The other company was going to leave my existing concrete porch in place and simply hide it with the deck. Mike from Three D explained that this was a bad idea due to potential issues down the road, so they removed it and did the job correctly. A BONUS - they found and repaired an 8-foot section of rotted wood that was hidden behind the concrete, and flashed it properly so this can't happen again. That would still be there if the porch had been left in place. And finally, the deck is beautiful, with every detail attended to. The railings, steps, skirting, all of it expertly done. Mike even suggested right in the middle of the job that we reposition the steps for easier access, and that was a perfect suggestion that we hadn't thought of.I would eventually like to add a roof over the deck, and I won't shop around when I do. Three D already built the foundation to support the weight of a possible roof, so I'm all set there. If you take anything away from this review, I hope you take this: don't let price be the only deciding factor. That would have been a mistake in my case. I'm 63, and at a point in my life where I want my big purchases to outlive me. So I'm inclined to look for what I believe will be the best. I never want to mess with this deck again, so I went with the company in whom I felt most confident. The construction of this deck will last until my children inherit it, I'm confident of that.Mike and Jake of Three D Construction were great to work with. They have excellent attitudes. Even while building the deck IN FEBRUARY IN THE RAIN they were cheerful. We could not be happier with our selection of a contractor. They are true craftsmen who pay strict attention to details. If you have a project, at least do yourself a favor and talk with Mike Whitley. Three D Construction won't disappoint you.
Very professional throughout the entire project. Communication was excellent and quality of workmanship was very good. They took extra steps to ensure we were satsified with every aspect of the project. I would highly recommmend them!
