Ocean Exteriors did a great job in explaining the process of replacing my roof and worked within my budget to provide me with a new high quality roof. They took the responsibility of working with the city in pulling permits and having inspectors sign off on the work. The crew was exceptional in the work that was done including pulling off the old roof, delivery of materials, and installing the new roof. Once the old roof was removed the new was in place in only one day. A separate crew came out the next day to clean up. It was a smooth experience leaving me with a beautiful new roof as well as peace of mind.
They did not follow up. Also, they are not responsive when there is a problem. They are really good at selling you something.
They were really helpful. They came out and saw the work was being done properly.
Everyone was friendly and courteous at all times. Even if I asked dumb questions.
The price was higher than I would have expected for the detailed work done. My roof was removed in a day, and after waiting for the inspection. The roof was put on in one day however, the finishing details was not completed before the added rain gutters was done. As of this date never completed. There were contract issues that was promised but was only completed after I had to pay $1200.00 extra. Also, there was confusion about when the final inspection was done and the demand for full payment except for $1000.00 and the extra $1200.00 along with the balance of the rain gutters I did pay what was asked for but held the final balance until the job was totally completed. I was an all-cash customer, and I just did not get the respect I felt I should have gotten. A roof that was quoted at $39,000.00 at the end of the day ended up costing me nearly $50,000.00
The high pressure sells tactics used was not called for. The Roof turned into Roof and Gutters and the project list would have kept on going if the sells people had their way. As for the detail work not completed, I have to wander how much extra that will cost me.
I rated Ocean Exteriors Inc. a 2 because I do not think they got a permit. They told me they got one, and then they told me they did not need one. They had different people each time telling me different things. If they come up with a permit, I would rate a 5.
Na
I cannot recommend anyone as I do not want them to experience the problems I had,.
The Worst Roofing company i have delt with in over 30 years. They were always late, did NOT communicate, made many, many installation errors, and were overpriced. during 5 day install process. i was made to speak with no less than 8 different people. each of which had no idea what the other discussed. They had to come back to correct errors on 4 separate occasions after intimal install.. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!See below list of installation errors:On several occasions when speaking with Ocean Exteriors, I expressed a need to meet with contractors each morning to briefly review the scope of works for that day. Just to be sure we were all clear on needs and expectations. Unfortunately, this never happened. Workers simply showed up and began working. And when I inquired about issues and scope of work, I was either given no information, or conflicting information. This led to several phone calls and messages to Ocean Exterior reps for clarification. However, in many cases the below issues were already completed and would no need to be corrected. Due to the many, many issues I was forced stat on sight all week to oversee the entire process and point out to the installer faults to be sure they were corrected. The below list is ONLY the faults I saw, there could be far more that show up that I did NOT observe.I was promised and expected a superior product for the premium price charged. What I have received is a sub-standard install, which over time I'm sure will reveal future issues.1) TEAR OFF & PATCH (2023-1003)a. During Tear off, & Patch All previous materials & flashing were NOT removed and decking was installed over old flashing.b. New and "Good" old decking boards were NOT secured properly to rafter structure, loose and uneven boards were left, with gapping & pop-ups.c. As outlined in the proposal, 2 dis-used vents & old electrical tiedown were to be removed from the structure. This was NOT done until I was made to point out the oversite. Even though I told 3 different representatives that it needs to be completed.d. Rafter Tails & Fashia: although the boards were primed prior to installation, the cut edges should have also been primed and were NOT.e. Debris was to be deposited directly to trash truck not left on lawn or on site., Piles of debris was left onsite (per the worker truck left before they could add debris. It was NOT full.f. The missed and incomplete tear-off works were finally completed by "Charles's group". (They were great). They removed vents, electrical & re-nailed down loose decking in prep for install.2) INSTALL (2023-1005 & 1006)a. Underlayment: Improper underlayment installation, The underlayment was hurriedly applied to decking with gaps, rippling and cupping. It was NOT applied smooth and even fashion as to avoid final rippling of shingles. Therefore, there are full sections of the roof that have both rippled and cupping shingles.b. Step Flashing: Step Flashing improperly installed. Hip flashing should have been applied in alternating layers beginning at the starter course and alternating up the wall. (Starter shingle, flashing, shingle flashing) This was NOT done. All flashing was installed in a single layer then shingles were applied overtop. However, most concerning was at one section nails were driven directly into the Stucco Wall.. leaving the nail holes vulnerable to future water intrusion that would be extremely difficult to detect as the intrusion would be in an interior stud wall and not visible. Major damage could occur over time and go unnoticed.c. Valley Flashing or Shingle Weave: During proposal, it was noted that Ocean Exterior do NOT use metal valley flashing but applied a "Shingle Weave" method. It was explained that this was superior as there was no chance of metal expansion and contraction that could lead to faults in the system. It was agreed to use the "Weave" method. This was NOT done it was installed without "metal valley flashing" but shingles were installed 1 layer above and a second below. NOT the "Weave" as discussed. Driving rain could more easily make its way under the current installation leading to future water intrusion.d. Porch Overhang: Front porch overhang was cut away from structure and left detached with opening to inside leaving possible access for animals.e. Shingle Install: Throughout the overall Roofing system there are many sections of cupping and wavy shingle laying. According to the Ocean Exterior Team, this is a sign of improper underlayment and shingle installation.3) INSTALL COMPLETION (2023-1006)After completion, several items remain unresolved. In addition to the above, visible nail head through facing shingles throughout the entire roof surfaces. I have documented the entire process including faulty works and defects, with photos and video and can provide supporting upon request.
Think again before hiring Ocean ExteriorAll of sales rep including mine they are Very unprofessional sales rep .Once money is collected responsibility and follow up is not there. Submitted hard copy survey and they told me they never received which means whoever collected was not happy with it and threw away,
