Doug Heath founded the company in 1976 as Doug Heath Roofing and built it one roof and one referral at a time. A specialty in wood shake roofing gave the business the name it still carries. In 2025, Doug sold to Brian Espindola, who now owns and operates NuShake under his own California C-39 license, CSLB #1142280, out of the same Ripon yard. Doug sold to a roofer, not an investor, and the company stayed in the trade.

Brian's path is unusual for an owner. He started on a tear-off crew at 18, the hardest job on any jobsite, led his own crew by 20, moved into sales at 21, and earned his contractor license at 23. When he walks your roof and quotes it, he has personally done the work he's pricing.

Our services cover the full roof and the building envelope: roof replacement and tear-offs, roof repair and leak diagnosis, same-day emergency response for active leaks, shake roofing and shake-to-Class-A conversions, tile, metal, flat and TPO systems, commercial and low-slope roofing, solar roofing, roof coatings, maintenance plans, gutters and flashing, skylights, and attic insulation. We also document storm and hail damage and support homeowners through insurance claims.

We carry five manufacturer certifications where most local roofers hold one or two: GAF Master Elite, GAF Gold Elite, GAF Solar Certified, CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster, and Owens Corning Preferred. That training unlocks enhanced manufacturer warranties on qualifying installations. We're licensed and insured under CSLB #1142280, verifiable at cslb.ca.gov, and monthly payment options are available through Service Finance.
