Warren, the owner, was very informative, and patient with the process. I asked a lot of questions. I really appreciated all his time in explaining everything. He is physically on the job site doing the work with his crew. That was the biggest benefit we had.

Aaron Hinzman and his team built a new 500sf 2nd story Trex deck for us, in the dead of winter, and it is absolutely stunning. If you’ve ever worked with contractors, you’ll find an entire spectrum of personalities and workmanship. It is always a risk to take that leap of faith, and we’re grateful we found Michigan’s Best Deck Builders.
Our story: Aaron came over to give us an estimate and scope of work. He was incredibly meticulous and methodical with his quote and sketch from the start. He answered all of our questions with confidence and he was very calm (not salesy/pushy). We continued to take several weeks to obtain 5 additional quotes from other deck builders in the area. There are some great ones out there with big names, flashy marketing, and superstar type-A personalities, and competitive “we’ll beat any quote” pricing, and they all made us feel very comfortable, no complaints.
Here’s where Michigan’s Best Deck Builders stood out: Aaron runs a tight ship and doesn’t outsource his work to a 3rd party team. He was on our job every day and built our deck himself, with his own dedicated crew. There was never a time that he didn’t return a text or a phone call within a few hours and was on top of the schedule. We never had to ask or question anything.
That said, his quote was not the cheapest, but we unanimously chose him as he was incredibly reliable and the service quality was meticulous from quote to finish. That’s not something we found to be common these days; and if you’ve had to deal with chasing contractors, you’ll value reliability and quality over all.

The deck was a composite deck that was installed in April 2020. By summertime some of the screws in the deck boards were popping out, by winter there were some boards that were coming undone. For a $35,000 investment, i expected better quality.

The company owner, Warren, came out to review the needed repairs. Before he left we had a satisfactory estimate. The work done, replacing an existing 710 sq. foot cedar deck as well as an 80 sq. foot side deck with AZEK decking and new railings and bench areas was done to our extreme satisfaction. The job required a reconfiguration of existing support beams which was very tedious work. Our work crew answered my many questions with extreme patience and kept me informed as to the whys and wherefores of the job. The area was cleaned periodically and the site left completely free of debris. I would highly recommend this company. The new decks are a total pleasure to view and use.

We are very pleased with our new deck and the construction of it! HOWEVER, I will NEVER recommend Michigan's Best Deck Builders to anyone! The owner is a BULLY and his nephew, the salesperson, is NOT trustworthy! The business management / customer relationship aspect of this business is very lacking! The salesperson quoted us a price and told us if we paid with cash, we'd receive a 5% discount. Fast forward months after the deck was completed, we find out that the salesperson marked "cash" on our contract without us knowing and we were told we owed more money. The owner was very nasty about collecting the 5% that we believed was our discount. I will NEVER work with them again!
