I had a wonderful, professional experience working with our contractor Nick - I felt at ease with him and we could communicate well, after talking with other contractors and not feeling comfortable.
Fast work - thorough cleanup.
We are extremely happy with the work that was done at our house. The crew worked long days, made sure all work was done at the highest quality, and had the utmost respect for our house, lawn, and landscape as they did their work.
1) We had to wait an inexcusable 3 1/2 months for work to be completed. 2) We had to draw up a 4-page punch list of things that needed to be corrected after work was supposedly "completed". 3) Some siding crew members seemed experienced, other members clearly were not and should have received more training before being put on the job. 4) Inexplicable mistakes were made, e.g. one vertical seam on the side of a window had had a bead of caulk applied from the top, but the bead was stopped half way down; in lots of other places there were noticeable gaps and holes that should have been caulked; a cracked Hardie board was installed; an outdoor light fixture hung crooked because only one of the two nuts used to hold it in place was installed. There were many, many other examples. 5) Some 10 roof shingles were damaged by the siding crew and had to be replaced. When the roofing crew came out to make the repairs, we asked why the shingles were damaged. They told us the siding crew had worn the wrong type of shoes on the new roof when installing siding above the roof, and the cleats on their shoes had perforated the shingles. They said they should have worn shoes with foam rubber soles. 6) One day, we were notified that the siding crew would be by at a certain time to continue the punch list work but they were no-shows. 7) There are several places where the drip edge material does not look like it was properly installed. There are places where the drip edge has gaps between it and the fascia, and again where pieces of drip edge are joined together. While it may not affect performance, these areas are visually unattractive and should not have been left that way. 8) One of the newly installed window shutters has an anchor that has already come loose. 9) We feel that more frequent and thorough inspection/supervision should have taken place along the way, so that we wouldn't end up with a 4-page punch list.
We couldn't say enough good things about Nick, Arek and the crew at FTC Oury. The install team was a pleasure to work with and their commitment to "get it right" was excellent. Nick and Arek continuously communicated with us making sure that we were beyond satisfied. Truly one of the best subs we worked with on our whole house remodel!
