I appreciate knowing that Sela is a BIG company. With the complexity of dealing with insurance companies for claims, Sela's experience was critical in trying to get us the best settlement possible with our reluctant insurer.

Wish I had shopped around a little more. I went with Sela because they did my roof 32 years ago and were very compassionate as costs escalated. Great job then. Doesn't seem to be the same values coming through now. Perhaps it's gotten too big and corporate. No longer a "family business". Poor communication, not great clean-up and caulking on flashing was not great.

They did a fine job overall for the exact price quoted. It was my request that Sela not start the job until after Thanksgiving and the day they came was quite cold and my roof is very steep. I think the roofers did not have good work conditions and as such, Sela had to send a another crew back in the spring to fix some issues. All issues were corrected as promised.

Excellent reputation, good value (not the cheapest, but the best combination of workmanship and reliability) and thus the bang for the buck. I can always count on them being around if I need further help.

Lack of responsiveness, quality work, and communication.

They can nail shingles to a roof. Anything beyond that, including management, billing, oversight, etc, or anything more complicated like a flat roof or gutters, and you'll start to see the wheels come off. Numerous issues throughout the process, from scheduling, navigating insurance, damaging the home during installation and doing sloppy work, to bigger issues like removing then not replacing gutters for weeks, causing a huge amount of water damage in my home.

If/when things go wrong, this is when the real issues begin. You will not be able to get a quick resolution. You probably won't even be able to get a returned call or email. We would go weeks without hearing from Sela when we were having major issues, despite constant outreach to them. At one point, they even threatened to put a mechanic's lien on my home, when they'd never finished the work or sent an invoice.

Hiring Sela cost me at least 100 hours of my own time, thousands of dollars, and 17 months of frustration and anger. I'll never get that back... I thought hiring one of the biggest companies in the metro would be the easiest and best way to get a new roof. Don't make the same mistake as me... do not hire Sela. This is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with.
