When we decided to add a family room and remodel the kitchen in our home, we researched several potential building contractors using the Better Business Bureau as a starting point. We interviewed three and decided to proceed with 21st Century Building based on process rather than price. Their collaborative design process with their recommended architect, Ed Deering, insured that the concepts we were seeking and the architectural detail needed to develop a proposal were incorporated into the design. Using the designs, 21st Century Building then provided a detailed proposal outlining everything they would provide and their price. The detail made it easy to negotiate the final proposal and price that met our objectives. During the construction phase we found 21st Century Building to be very reliable, dependable and to provide quality craftsmanship work. They have a strong relationship with all their contractors who are very reliable. We were kept informed of everything that was planned, the impact on our personal environment and what they needed from us to keep the project moving. As is likely with almost every large project, there were a few things that we decided to change as the project was proceeding. Again, with the original detailed proposal, it was easy to determine the impact of any changes and the associated costs.No matter how well planned, when modifying an existing home, there were issues from the home’s original design and construction that were not anticipated. The Project Manager, along with the skilled contractors working on the project, rapidly identified fixes that resolved the issues and kept our project on schedule. They also paid close attention to all the detail items that we identified as we neared the completion of our project.We are very pleased with the work they did and we are very excited and happy with our new family room and kitchen. In the future, if we decide to do any additional work on our home, we would return to 21st Century Building without hesitation.

Areas Of Satisfaction - The initial design process, working on-line with 21st Century Building Company's designer Ed Deering, insured that we collaborated on the original design using the latest technology, and enabled us to come up with a design that met our appearance and cost expectations. With the detailed design, David Kramer was able to develop a very detailed project plan and related costs that insured that we would knew when deviated from the original plan, the deviation would result in a different cost (either more or less). Our assigned project manager Kevin was out to the site every day, stayed on top of the work that was being done, effectively managed the city inspectors who reviewed the work and made sure the project was completed in the time frame that was required despite several deviations from the original project plan.

Architectural Design

Architectural Design - We were able to coordinate our schedules by doing the design interactively on-line in conjunction with a conference call (there was one time we worked on-line where I was in my home, my wife was in Phoenix and Ed was at his home - this was at a critical juncture of finalizing the design). If we had to do this work together in one place, it would have taken much longer. I am confident that we saved time and were able to come up with a much better collaborative design for our project.
