I think they are a great builder. They are by far and away the best that I have seen (I've dealt with 2 or 3 different builders out here).

Parkwood Homes was founded in 1991 and soon became the principal builder in the nationally acclaimed community of Kentlands, Maryland. We are a small, privately owned company. Most of our employees have been with us for many years and are seasoned and experienced in homebuilding. We limit the number of homes we build each year and take great pride in the solid craftsmanship and quality our homes provide. Although Parkwood is a small firm, we have enjoyed very positive recognition for our innovative and high quality homes. We place great emphasis on excellent design. We are a 100% Energy Star builder. Parkwood Homes was responsive and clear about changes that had to be made. If there were any, they made them promptly. They never really fell behind schedules. If they did, they notified us quickly. I would definitely buy another Parkwood Home if the situation presented itself.

The homes are beautiful and the customization provided is unbeatable. The warranty repair process, however, has been slow and predictably frustrating. Repairs are made in an "as cheap as possible" fashion rather than a "do it right" fashion. You have to stay on them to get the job done right -- often for months at a time.

Parkwood is a builder with multiple floorplan options that provide a good use of space. The Parkwood Home curb appeal is unparalleled. We really appreciated the flexibility during the planning to move windows, doors, walls, etc.

The home is very nice and does meet expectations. However, Parkwood is not the "custom" builder it makes itself out to be. When asked to do anything out of the ordinary, the usual answer was "no," and after some fighting, it woud change to "for a steep price." The constant fighting to get our HOME the way we wanted it was very tiring and deflating. It's unfortunate that Parkwood is not willing or cannot budget for the accomidations they claim to make, as the slight changes are what would make each of thier homes wonderful and so very special to the owners. That promise is why we initially went to Parkwood.

We do try our best to not only build beautiful, high-quality homes, but also to make the process as enjoyable as possible. We have been successful in making the vast majority of our homeowners loyal fans over the past few years, but acknowledge that we aren't perfect and try our best to rectify problems when they do arise. In this case, there were some misunderstandings, and we believed that we had worked with you to resolve your concerns, but apparently haven't completely done so. My experience with Parkwood has been amazing. The sales staff, project managers, and site workers are extremely helpful and professional. They are very fair in their upgrade charges and are also flexible with making changes at no charge. They really take the time to help you make the best choices to fit your needs and your budget.

The home construction process with Parkwood has been exceptional. The sales staff are knowlegable and eager to accommodate building exactly what you want. The construction managager is also very knowlegable about the process and takes the time to explain and answer questions in detail. I don't get the feeling like i am "bothering someone." I love my home. the only thing I would want to change is having less steps coming in from the front and back of the house. there are a lot of steps from the kitchen to the outside, it would be great if somehow the structure was lower thus less steps.....not a huge deal. I love the uniqueness of the home! Yay parkwood.
