I am replacing "cloudy"existing ones Do I need to seal them or set them on something to avoid this cloudy look in the future? They have a 10 year warranty. I will be doing the work. THANKS

I have a 50 gal. gas Bradford water heater in my house that is almost 12 years old. I want to replace in the near future. What are my non-tankless options? I am looking for a good manufacturing warranty with a good consumer track record. I have heard that the new water heaters are not as good as the old ones? Could you recommend some 50 gallon gas models that have a good warranty and history behind them? Thanks

What makes a good remodeling customer?

One that is flexible and open to new ideas and solutions.

One that doesn't second guess every step of the process.

One that doesn't watch over your workers and want to help.

One that doesn't have to be in contact 24/7.

One that shows appreciation for progress and quality.

One that provides baked goods once a week.

Should I install solar panels on my new home?

Eric Consuegra answered:

Mar 12, 2014

Alex,

Solar panels are a great long term solution for energy savings. The average time frame for recovering the initial cost of the panels and installation is about 5 years, so if you are planning on living in the home for longer than 5 years, you will begin to see a return on your investment around year 6 and beyond. Also a big bonus is that tax credits are available to homeowners on both the state and federal level for solar currently!

Hope this helps! Good luck with your new home =)

What should I use to fill a gap where the metal face of the wood burning fireplace meets? What should I use to fill a gap where the metal face of the wood burning fireplace meets the other metal below the brick? There is a 3/8" gap. It's too big to just use fire safe caulk. I would like to use something like backer rod, but i know it needs to be fire safe. There is a very cold draft coming through. Thanks!

What is the best way to remove a very slight amount of mold on shower grout? What is the BEST sealer to use for re-sealing the cleaned grout? The mold is only on one side of the shower where the floor meets the wall and measures about 4-5 inches in length.

Can anyone share insights on how to block off a chimney opening? We have wasp coming through the chimney opening of our den into the house. We noticed this happens more in the summer months of course. I've purchased a board from my local hardware store to cover the front entrance of the chimney and have had success with taping up the opening, but I'm looking for a more elegant solution. We've called exterminators to get rid of the wasp nest, but they still find there way in.

What's the best hardwood flooring product for pet owners? We have a yorkie and a cocker spaniel. They are very playful, and tend to run all over our foyer and living room, making scratches to the floor surface.
