Over the years, my wife and I have done several major home improvement projects, with a variety of contractors. I can say, without reservation, that we have never had as positive an experience as we had with Chad and his subcontractors. Chad always worked with us, creatively, esthetically, and practically, to explore options, not only at the inception of the project, but throughout the myriad small and large decisions that needed to be made, while always making us feel that we were the decision makers. Our home is an Evanston co-op, with a wonderful, but very picky Board (which we appreciate, because it protects us in the long run, though in the middle of the project, it was often challenging). Chad was masterful in working with the Board, including helping them think through the practical implications of their multitudinous requirements, which, while well intended, were not always thought through. The Board was totally won over by Chad, and we all saw our work together as a true collaboration, much of which was due to Chad's quiet, good-natured, but very thorough, leadership.

After "completion" there was a problem. But Blank & Baker totally resolved the problem and in a timely manner. They listened to me, saw the problem, and knew how to resolve it. So a problem turned into an asset in my mind!

I was very pleased with Chad's integrity. I felt that he cared as much about my home and the improvements almost as much as I did. Communication was no trouble. It was very easy to send an email or phone call and receive a response soon after. This made the process smooth for me. It was nice to feel as though my project had Chad's full attention.

Chad is a professional with the highest integrity. He worked within our budget and the parameters that we set. He made himself available at all hours to meet our needs. The work was flawless.

I am very glad to have clearly written understandable documentation with regard to what work was done and why. Too often, though this is somthing that is readily pledged early on, it usually fails to fully materialize. This company stands apart in that regard.

Written communication has been exceptionally good. We received an initial detailed analysis of the problem and proposed solutions in writing with pictures and the subsequent contract flowed from this report.. In the past year we faced two problems that led us to call for assistance and each time the response was excellent. The first incident occurred within a couple months of completion. One of our new copper downspouts was stolen off the front of our home and Chad had it replaced at no cost to us. The second and more recent incident involved some apparent deterioration of our newly plastered interior walls. I emailed pictures and a brief description and Chad responded immediately. He came out and took moisture measurements and pictures then provided written follow up to me within a few days. He had discussed and explored the problem with appropriate professionals then provided us with a detailed written analysis of the problem. Having owned several older homes, we have worked with many contractors through the years. Often they can seem to be rather glib when it comes to getting everything they say they are going to do clearly spelled out on paper. That simply was not the case with Blank and Baker. In person, Chad's approach is measured and thoughtful and his written follow-up is thorough and clear.

They're definitely superior to anyone else we've worked with.
