Glickman Design Build did a fantastic job on our addition/renovation. The overall project management was wonderful and the subcontractors were each top notch. The overall cost was high but was certainly comparable to other top firms in the area. The best part was the attention to detail. When something wasn't quite right it was fixed before we even noticed.
Trees fell on my house crushing the roof rafters. Another contractor had wasted months of our time never performing any work and not even completing the estimates. Glickman responded within one week and coordinated with the roofer who had given us a 50 year guarantee. Together they completed the job in five working days! Total professionalism.
You can publish the ratings from "David and Donna M."We used Glickman Design/Build to build a 900 sq. ft. addition and remodeled two existing rooms to build a master bedroom/bathroom, renovated a family room/bathroom, and added two attached bedrooms for our returned child with family. The design/build process worked very well. Glickman took our ideas and created a lovely and very functional addition that fit the look and flow of our existing home, both inside and outside. Glickman worked with us to incorporate our needs and desires and to keep costs down. Glickman developed a workable budget and they stayed within it, except for the few times we chose to make upgrades. The finished product is wonderful, far better than we had ever imagined. The Glickman process was very professional, moving quickly through all the phases of design and build. The project manager Justin was amazing. He kept the contractors moving smoothly through the project. He was there nearly every day keeping us informed about what was occurring and what would be done during the week. The project remained on schedule throughout the process. Justin had an outstanding eye for detail and insisted that the work by the subcontractors meet his high standards or the work was redone until both Justin and we were satisfied. Part of our family continued to live in the home during the renovation. The impact to them was kept to a minimum. The workers were always very professional and courteous; their arrival and departure times were minimized the impact to early mornings and dinnertime. While not inexpensive, the finished product is worth every penny. We would highly recommend Glickman Design/Build to anyone interested in building an addition or undertaking a significant remodeling project.
Everyone were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. We had a rough idea of what we needed to do but they took our rough ideas and turned them into an incredibly beautiful and functional building. We would use the design/build process again if we had to do an addition or major renovation.
My expectations were exceeded throughout the project. We love the addition and remodeled rooms.
1. The design was very professional and has resulted in an addition that looks like it is part of the original home. The flow and functionality are superb.2. The project manager was wonderful. He was always there. He had a great eye for detail and quality and ensured that everything was perfect. He was spectacular in his communications with us. After working with him for 7 months we feel like we are loosing a part of our family when the job is complete and he moves on to another project.
Quality additions and renovations are expensive and take time. The popular TV shows are terribly misleading in the cost of major projects and the time it takes. That was the biggest shock to us initially. Once we began to compare prices and found out what other companies would charge then we were able to adjust to the realities of the DC area.
GDB designed and built an accessible in-law suite (bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette) and reconfigured some of our main family space. The project was handled very professionally, by a top-notch project manager (Justin) and responsible, courteous subs. Very few issues arose during construction, and Russ (GDB owner) fairly resolved those that did. All in all, an excellent experience.
Our project manager, Justin, was excellent. He has a great eye for detail and a wonderful ability to problem-solve on site. He was honest and courteous as well.
Glickman Design Build did a great job remodeling our home. I attribute the success to two, key factors--collaboration and communication. First, they worked with us every step of the way, listening to our thoughts, ideas, and preferences. From the design through the build and item selection, they understood our joint vision, and they fulfilled it. We also communicated throughout the project. This included both good news and when problems arose. When the latter happened, they came to us with viable solutions to keep the project on track and within budget.
Mr. Glickman is a caring contractor, listens to and senses the need of customers.
Mr. Glickman cannot be everywhere where he has contracts of building, but he makes a frequent visit to any given site. Then, he inspects work progress and tries to troubleshoot as soon as he notices something unexpected or wrong.
Our first encountering was back in 1997 and we were very satisfied with results. Then, in 2011, we had no question as to whom to ask for next project.
The Glickman Design Build team was just that, a team. We had a good partnership and they did an excellent job, especially when we needed to resolved problems that arose.
They really do have a great team. We picked them because we know they care about their clients and the finished product, and I know it will be the case as we go through our final punch list. I really appreciate everything they have been doing for us.
Glickman Design Build offers a top-notch craftsmanship and construction expertise. They were able to come up with innovative solutions to design challenges and offer practical solutions. We very much admire Glickman's commitment on budgeted costs and accountability.
I am most satisfied with the overall experience.
Russ Glickman assembles a outstanding team to brainstorm and problem solve solutions for a challenging protect. His team worked cooperatively with me to come to a workable solution for a accessible home. Thanks to Russ Glickmans design I have become totally independent.
I was most satisfied with team approach to the unique problems for this project. He gathered a team of experts to help with the design of this project. They had great ideas for someone with a disability. His ideas were extremely helpful for turning a traditional home into one that meets the needs for someone who is wheelchair bound.
They added a interior elevator and exterior lift and a lift in tub for the bathroom. As a client I found it important to focus on my needs and goals. To ashore that I received what I really was looking for. Instead of what he thought was best for me.
A first-rate company.
I would rate my experience as neither better or worse than expected. It fulfilled my expectations, and was fully satisfactory.
Keep up the good work.
When I first hired Glickman Design Build, I was a little nervous about the work and how much needed to be done (I'm handicapped), but they addressed all my issues and made the renovations to my home "to the T" of the contract. Everything was done in a very courteous and professional manner.
I was most satisfied with the bedroom and the bathroom. It was excellent work.
I would recommend them. I'm very happy.
They anticipated potential improvements and problems we had not previously considered.
We hired Glickman Design Build in the late summer of 2013 to rebuild the deck, do an exterior paint job, and fix some leaking skylights on a house we owned in Rockville. Later, in the summer of 2014, after we had moved into the house, we had them remove some trees and do some extensive patio and concrete work on the outside of the house, to include replacement and expansion of the driveway, installing sidewalks, putting in a large concrete patio and paver patio in the backyard, and putting in concrete steps in our sloping back yard. They did excellent work on all counts. They advised us on what needed to be done to implement our vision of what we wanted and pointed out issues that we had missed with the roof and our yard which needed to be dealt with. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy with what they did. Glickman is probably somewhat more expensive than others, but the quality of the work is worth it. We will almost certainly use them again when we need further major work on the house.
I would not hesitate to hire GDB again for any renovation project in my home. The staff is skilled, experienced, creative, and efficient. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is considering a home renovation or expansion.
The design of the kitchen is outstanding. GDB worked hard to accommodate my wishes while making the project look like an award-winning kitchen. The workmanship was outstanding in every detail.
I researched GDB on Angie's List, then met and talked to reps at a home show. Their reputation and reviews were excellent, but I was especially pleased to learn a project manager was now working for them. I had worked with him on an earlier project and was impressed with his work, professionalism, problem solving, creativity, and attitude toward pleasing his clients.
I am still waiting for the small wall shelf that is to be installed between the sink and door wall. Measurements were made, again, last fall, but I've not been contacted about the shelf being made and ready for installing. It is to be for Mom to be more independent and have her items in reach. Originally, the Designer suggested that it might be in the way of caregivers. I was told to use the bathroom for a while and then let BDB know if still wanted it. Again, requested it more than a year ago. Measurements not done until fall. It is to be white like sink, rolled edge to keep items from sliding off, not more than 10" deep, etc. Thank you for opportunity to get this done. Linda
Professionalism, clean-up daily, good workmanship

By administrating surveys as an unbiased third party we ensure that customers have the oppurtunity to express their true feelings about a project and that members get the most accurate and detailed feedback possible.
When a survey contains the "Review" question, that customer's answer will show up on the member's profile page as a public review. Members have the option to turn off reviews but cannot hide individual reviews. It's all or nothing. This means that any reviews you see on a GuildQuality profile page are real comments left by the customer and verified by GuildQuality.
Each item listed under "Customer satisfaction" represents a specific question asked by GuildQuality to customers of Glickman Design Build as part of our survey process. The bar graph and percentage next to the question stand for the percentage of respondents that were "Satisfied" about that particular question.
